ALASKAN ROAD TRUCKERS ROADMAP
Many of you have been asking for a roadmap to show how we’ll continue to support Alaskan Road Truckers after launch. We’re not quite ready to share it, but we are working on one that we can’t wait to share with you.

We want to support Alaskan Road Truckers for years to come, and we want you to know what we’ve got planned. So keep your eyes peeled - there’ll be a roadmap soon!
SNOW PROBLEM
Alaska is a region of the world that has an incredibly varied climate. Most of the game we’ve shown off so far has been from the sunnier end of the year, with blue skies, green from mountain to mountain, and only a hint of snow.

Alaskan Road Truckers isn’t a game only about cruising through sunny days, you’ll have to deal with bad weather, snowstorms, and even avalanches. One of the gameplay features we’ve been making sure is working perfectly in the run-up to launch is blizzards and snow deformation - here are a few pics of how our work is going!
WHEELS AND SHIFTERS
Alaskan Road Truckers aims to recreate the experience of living as a trucker. As we always say, you play as a trucker - not a truck. While you’ll be getting out of the cab to eat, shop, refuel, and jerry-rig repairs to your truck, you’ll be spending a lot of your time driving too.

That’s why we want to make sure that you know that steering wheels and shifters will be supported in Alaskan Road Truckers from day one. So if you have the equipment, you’ll be able to use it in our game.

We’re still finalizing exactly how this support will work and will be announcing more details as we get closer to launch. We just wanted to make sure that you all know that steering wheel support is a priority for us.
RELEASING AN INDIE GAME
We’re hard at work making sure Alaskan Road Truckers is ready for launch. This means that everyone is super busy fixing bugs, rewriting text, refining gameplay features, and much - much - more.

We are a small team, so everyone pitches in with everything, and being small means we have unique challenges and opportunities. We’re incredibly ambitious with Alaskan Road Truckers, re-creating a huge slice of Alaska filled with hazards, roads, towns, and more. We had modest ambitions when we started making the game, but as we’ve worked on it, our eyes have lifted to the horizon, and we decided to expand our ideas. We’re now confident we’re making a brilliant, expansive game, and we're pretty sure you'll love it when you to play it.

This has meant our development time has been longer than we initially anticipated. As our scope grew, the game became more complex, meaning more work, bugs, and stuff to fix. Thankfully, we’re nearly there. We know you’ve all been waiting a long time for Alaskan Road Truckers - and your wait is almost over!

One of the brilliant opportunities that comes from being a small team working on an indie game is that we can take on feedback and work on what matters to you - the player. We aren’t a triple-A studio and publisher that requires tons of approvals before we start work, we can get our hands dirty nearly immediately. All this means that we’re not developing the game in isolation, we’re doing it in conjunction with you - and when we release the game on the 18th of October, your feedback will be utterly essential for us. So when the game’s out, if you encounter a bug, a problem, or have an idea - let us know!
YOUR FEEDBACK MATTERS
We can't stress enough how important your feedback has been during the beta phase. Your input has driven numerous improvements and refinements to the game, and we're committed to continuing this collaborative journey with you as we work towards the full release.

Community Feedback - Devlog no. 12

Hello truckers!

You may or may not have heard, but we were at Gamescom last week. This meant that real people, Gamescom attendees, got to play Alaskan Road Truckers for the first time.

Not only was this an incredible experience; setting up our stand and seeing the excitement on people’s faces as they took their first steps into Alaska, it was also incredibly useful for us.

Part of what makes any game a success is the fans, so that’s why we’re asking all of you to…
Have Your Say
We want to know what you think!

If you were at Gamescom and have played the game, get in touch here, our Discord, or on our social media channels to let us know what you thought of what you played. We’ve already gathered a ton of feedback from Gamescom but we can always use more - so if you’ve played Alaskan Road Truckers, tell us your thoughts.

Our need for feedback doesn’t stop there! If you haven’t played Alaskan Road Truckers, we also want to hear from you. From everything you’ve seen, what are your hopes for the game? What are your concerns?

We’re always watching the community talk and sending this feedback to our development team but now, as we approach the launch of the PC version on October 18 - feedback is critical. So please, let us know what you think and want to see in our game. We can’t wait to hear from you.
Next Steps
Now Gamescom is over and we’ve announced our PC Steam release date, we’re hard at work implementing bug fixes, tightening things up, and working on areas of feedback we received.

We’re also working to get key bits of information out to you all. Details like system requirements, localization options, and console/other store release dates are all being finalized at the moment. As soon as we have any of this information - we’ll let you know.
Thrustmaster T128 Giveaway Winner
Last week over Gamescom we ran a giveaway in conjunction with our friends over at Thrustmaster to give away a Thrustmaster T128 steering wheel. The winner has now been drawn and we’ve been in touch so check your emails!

We’ll be holding more giveaways in the future so if you missed out this time, check back in regularly here and on our social channels to keep up to date.
Stay in Touch
Every wishlist helps us make Alaskan Road Truckers a success so please, if you haven't already, head over to our store page and hit that wishlist button. Thank you in advance!

Braving the Cold - Devlog no. 11

Hello truckers!

It’s currently summer here in the Northern Hemisphere and things are getting very hot indeed, especially for those of us who are at Gamescom in Cologne. We thought for this week’s devlog we’d cool down a bit and take a look at some of the effects cold weather will have on you, your truck, and the world in Alaskan Road Truckers.

Come and chill with us!
Ice to See You
Alaska is a region of the world that harbors wildly varying weather. In some seasons you may have little more to deal with than the occasional patter of rain but when winter rolls around, you’ll find things a little trickier out there on the road.

Snow and ice can make completing even routine journeys difficult. When ice starts to appear you’ll find your traction difficult to maintain, especially when you’re trying to haul a heavy load up a hill. Thankfully throwing iron (using snow chains) can provide you with the grip you need to get through.

With deep snow to contend with and reduced visibility due to blizzards, it can get extremely hairy when you're trying to navigate Alaska and control several tons of diesel-powered metal.

Engines can be temperamental things. When the frost really starts biting you may have trouble starting your truck at all. Make sure you’ve got your radiator cover with you if you’re planning on stopping anywhere to give your engine a little cozy hug to ensure it starts up.

The effects of cold don’t just stop there. If the temperature drops too much you’ll find your windscreen wipers frozen solid, unable to clear any potential blizzards that might be hitting you. The only option you’ll have is to get out of your truck and try and scrape them clean - but are you prepared to head outside in the frozen north?
A Frosty Reception
In Alaskan Road Truckers you play as a trucker, not as a truck. This means that the effects of the climate will affect you as well as your vehicle. You’ll have to maintain your temperature to keep your health up, let that drop too much and you’ll have a trip to the emergency room in your future.

You can stay warm in a variety of ways. First off you’ll have your heater in your cab - keep that running when it’s cold and you’ll keep the worst of the frost from biting you. Dressing appropriately for the weather is also something you’ll have to take into account, put a sweater on to stay warm.

If you have to get out of your cab and enter the cold you’ll have to be extremely aware of the dangers that frosty weather can inflict on you. Keep your journeys outside of safety quick and return to your truck whenever you can to stave off the cold. Your truck isn’t just your home away from home - it’s your sanctuary, where you can get a hot meal, turn on a heater, and get some precious hours of shut-eye.

Of course, knowing all this won’t help you if you’re not prepared for the worst that Alaska’s climate can throw at you. If you get trapped by an avalanche, your battery dies, a tire bursts, and you’re miles away from civilization, it can start to get very dark and very cold very fast.

If you’re heading out in winter, make sure you have what you need to jury-rig some repairs on your truck and stock up on food to make sure you come back in one piece. We’re counting on you, trucker.

The Alaskan Survival Guide - Devlog no. 10

Hello truckers!

The icy winds are swirling around us, snow is up to our knees, our mouths are dry, our limbs are weary, and our stomachs empty. No, this isn’t just a complaint about adverse weather conditions, we’ve been playing Alaskan Road Truckers.

One of the key gameplay features in our game revolves around survival - you’ll not just be taking care of your truck and your cargo, you’ll need to look after yourself too.

Staying alive isn’t just a Bee Gees song, stay healthy in Alaskan Road Truckers with our Alaskan Survival Guide!
A Vision of Health
Alaska isn’t always the safest of places to be, especially when you’re heading out into the wilderness to deliver cargo to some distant location. In Alaskan Road Truckers you’ll have to watch your health meter carefully in order to stay alive and keep yourself going against the odds.

There are many ways to take damage, just like in real life. For example, if you smash up your truck or get into a crash you’ll get wounded and lose health. Or if you head out into a blizzard without adequate protection you should be prepared to watch your vitality plummet.

Lose too much health and you’ll be heading to the hospital. The friendly medical staff in Alaska will happily patch you up - for a fee. You’ll also lose time and be transported away from where you were, so if you were on an urgent job you may fail it or have to take a riskier route to get your cargo there on time.
It’s Dinner Time
Everyone likes a good meal and in Alaskan Road Truckers there’s plenty of food to gorge yourself on. You’ll have to stay fed if you want to sustain yourself on the road, and thankfully there are plenty of delectable choices to enjoy.

Refueling your truck is essential and refueling yourself is just as important - but the quality of your food is also important. Sure, you can snack away on hot dogs and snaffle frozen pizzas and energy drinks but too much junk food and you may get a tummy ache and that might have health implications if you don’t deal with it.

Thankfully there’s plenty of good, healthy food you can eat in Alaskan Road Truckers. Often though this may be more expensive or require some preparation, so if you’re on the road and you’re running on empty, you might have to resort to some top quality gas station dining.
You’re Finally Awake
Driving can take it out of you. Hours spent behind the wheel, managing the weather, road conditions, and dealing with other drivers can test your ability to stay awake and alert.

In Alaskan Road Truckers you’ll need to take breaks and get some well-earned shut-eye to recover your energy levels before you hit the road again. You can pull over to the side of the road and get some sleep in the bed in the back of your truck but the quality of rest you’ll get is less than if you slept at your base or at a motel. Your energy levels won’t recover to their maximum if you’re not resting properly.

But if you’re stuck out in the snow, avalanches ahead and ice underneath, you might need to crawl into the back of your cab to snatch a few moments of rest to wait out the storm. Some rest is better than no rest!

Now you should be equipped to keep yourself alive and healthy when out in the vast Alaskan wilderness - good luck on the road, truckers!
Life on the Road Gameplay Trailer
