Hello truckers!

Tomorrow will see Alaskan Road Truckers launch onto PC. After years of waiting and hard work, we’re ready to send our Alaskan baby out into the world for the very first time. We can’t wait to hear what you think about our game - but before we launch, we’ve got some news for you.

We want you to all know that when you pick up Alaskan Road Truckers, you’re taking a journey with us. That journey doesn’t end on the 18th of October; it’s just beginning, for us, for the game, and for you!

We plan to keep updating Alaskan Road Truckers after it launches, both in terms of patches and bug fixes, but also with new content and stuff to see and do.

Here’s what we’ve currently got planned - it’s time to check out…

[h2]The Alaskan Road Truckers Post-Launch Roadmap[/h2]

That’s right, we’ve got big plans for Alaskan Road Truckers after it launches, and we want to give you a sneak-peek of what new stuff we’re going to be working on.

So here’s a look at the first few months of Alaskan Road Truckers and what we will be bringing to the PC version!

October is all about launching Alaskan Road Truckers but you’ll also be able to get your hands on the Mother Truckers Edition DLC, giving you exclusive skins and ornaments for your truck as well as a badass new character to play as. The Mother Truckers Edition DLC will only be available for a limited time only, so grab it fast!

We’ll be adding a brand new truck later in the month to celebrate the launch - something a little…different. More info coming soon!

• Trucking Legend Mode
  
• Skin & Decal Pack

We know you can’t wait to get stuck into the snow so we’ll be adding a brand new game mode where you’ll start in Winter, with few resources, ready to survive in the harsh Alaskan cold. For truckers looking for more of a challenge - this is the one for you.

We’ll also have new skins and decals for your truck, so you can show off more of your style on the wild Alaskan roads.
[h3]December 2023[/h3]

• Ice Road Expansion
  
• Christmas Update

The first major update for Alaskan Road Truckers will be hitting in December, with the release of our Ice Road Expansion. This will add entirely new routes, roads, and missions for you to conquer - all featuring treacherous icy roads that’ll test your trucking skills to the limit.

We’ll also be adding some holiday cheer to celebrate Christmas, watch out for a round guy in red!
[h3]January 2024[/h3]

• Expanded Country Roads Network
  
• Internal Cab Customization

In the New Year you can expect to get your hands on our brand new update where we’ll increase the amount of small dirt track roads you can drive on. Existing towns will be interconnected with smaller country roads, so you’ll be able to head off the beaten path and forge your own route through the wilderness.

As well as that, we’ll be releasing the Internal Cab Customization update. You’ll already have access to skins, wraps, and decals for the exterior of your truck, but what about the interior? Make your cab your home away from home with unique customization options.
[h3]February 2024[/h3]

• New Side Quests
  
• The Trucker Life Update

February will see us launch our New Side Quests update, where new mission types will be added to the game ensuring that you’ve got more to do, see, and haul.

We’ll also be adding to the survival experience, with new status effects for your trucker like getting ill, diseases, and much more. Surviving as a trucker will be a more robust experience with deeper systems, coming February 2024.

[h3]Alaskan Road Truckers into the Future[/h3]

Of course, our plans don’t stop in February but that’s all we can share for now. We’re planning on adding to our game map, extending existing systems, adding mod support, and providing more for you to experience in Alaska. We can’t confirm anything for now - but stay tuned, we’ll announce everything right here as soon as we can!

We’re fast approaching our PC launch date of October 18 and we’ve been working nonstop to take on board all the feedback we received during our playtests and make sure Alaskan Road Truckers is ready to hit the road.

With a couple of days to go - here’s what’s currently happening with Alaskan Road Truckers!

[h2]Community Updates[/h2]

The feedback, bug reports, and other ideas we’ve received from our community has been amazing. We’ve made tons of updates following our recent playtests, here’s some changes our community has requested that we’ve been able to implement already:

Snow markers in the North of the map - The real Dalton Highway has snow markers to make sure you’re driving on the road when things get a little cold. We enjoyed not being able to see the road when it’s snowing but we decided, after getting some feedback, that this wasn’t enjoyable for everyone. So snow markers are in - you’ll know exactly where the road is, no matter the weather.

Mouse won’t interrupt steering wheel - During playtests when you nudged your mouse, it would interrupt inputs from steering wheels. This wasn’t actually a bug, in fact it was a setting that was togglable in the options. However, after reports that this was bothering players, we decided to remove the option and make it so that when you’re using a steering wheel, you won’t find it disconnected by mouse movements anymore.

Camera centering - Some players didn’t enjoy having the camera center itself automatically when driving. So we’ve made it a button instead! If you want to be looking straight ahead, just hit the assigned key and you’ll be staring straight ahead. If not - there’ll be no interruptions.

Where’s the snow? - The playtest started players near the beginning of Spring. While we don’t want to throw players in at the deep end, we do know that many of you are anxious to get stuck into the colder parts of the year. As a result of this feedback, players will now start a new game at the beginning of Summer, meaning Winter and all its hazards is that much closer.

Force feedback - One of the key bits of feedback we received was that force feedback was too strong. We don’t want to shake your desk to pieces, so we’ve made improvements to ensure different types of steering wheels have appropriate levels of force feedback.

In addition to those changes, we’ve made tons of fixes, updates, and tweaks to the game. And more will be coming! Our work on Alaskan Road Truckers isn’t finished at launch, we’re going to add to the game, fix bugs, and be working on it before, during, and after the game comes out. So keep your feedback coming - especially after launch. As Frasier Crane says: we’re listening.

[h2]Review us on Steam[/h2]

Speaking of feedback, we have a request to make. After you’ve played the game for at least 2-3 hours please leave a Steam review. Steam reviews are critical to a game’s success; the more reviews we get, the more visibility we get, and the more people will see it. The more people see the game, the better we’ll do, and the better we do, the more we can support and expand our game.

Please note we’re not asking for you to leave a positive review. We want you to voice your honest opinion about the game. If you love it (and we hope you will), we want to hear that. If you don’t - then we want to hear that too.

So if you can, please leave us a Steam review once the game is out and you’ve played it for a few hours. You can always edit your opinion or expand upon it later, should you so wish.

Our Open Playtest has now ended - meaning if you downloaded the playtest you will no longer be able to launch it.

We wanted to share our thanks to everyone who took part, streamed, gave feedback, and got involved in any way. This weekend has been incredible - seeing players get their hands on the game and begin hitting the roads in the rough and wild region of Alaska.


From a development standpoint, there is no way to overstate our useful this playtest has been for us. We are a small indie development team and while we've tested our game a lot, getting it out into the open with thousands of players has meant the game has been tested like never before.

Every bit of feedback you have sent in has been read and we're working on fixing the things that need fixing, sanding off the rough edges, and getting our game ready for release.
