A new Abyssal Proving Grounds event is now live in EVE Online, so make sure you have your Proving Filaments handy either from Abyssal Deadspace loot drops, or from the in-game market!

Until 11:00 UTC on 8 September, and in celebration of Caldari Union Day, you can engage in 2v2 Caldari Strike Team combat, meaning that the permitted hulls for this event include Faction Frigates, Interceptors and Destroyers. The full eligible hull list is as follows: Caldari Navy Hookbill, Griffin Navy Issue, Raptor, Crow, Cormorant, and Corax - limited to meta 5 (Tech II) modules (no Faction/Deadspace/Officer/Abyssal modules). Pirate implants are also restricted.

Don't forget, you can keep track of Capsuleer performance and prowess in this event using the leaderboards!

To further celebrate Caldari Union Day, the Kimotoro Eskeitan SKIN will return to EVE Online's New Eden Store for a limited time between 11:00 UTC on 3 September and 11:00 UTC on 17 September with a 25% discount! Caldari Union Day is upon us once more, meaning it's time to celebrate the Union, its loyal corporations, and its people! There is a daily login event running until 11:00 UTC on 7 September where you can claim free rewards, as well as attend Caldari parades in selected systems, and there will even be awesome player-run gatherings in-game to check out!

By logging in daily during the Union Day event, you can claim free gifts such as Caldari-themed character apparel, Wheel of Prosperity fireworks and Festival launcher, Sukuuvestaa SKINs for the Caldari Shuttle and the Badger, plus Skill Points to boost your training. Pilots in Omega Clone State will get bigger rewards, while also being able to claim the Alpha rewards too!

In addition, you can visit Union Day event sites and witness celebratory parades where there will also be daily challenges with Skill Point rewards. These will take place in the Airkio, Annaro, Josameto, Malkalen, Muvolailen, Saisio, Sobaseki, and Suroken systems.

As part of ongoing research and development initiatives that aim to set EVE Online up for its third decade of success, we are working on a project that involves running the EVE client in a browser.

This experiment is part of our ongoing effort to improve the lives of new EVE players, making the game more accessible by removing the immediate download step.

This experiment will be limited to new players creating accounts from specific locations, and will only be available to users with a good internet connection and a modern browser. As with any R&D project, we do not know what the takeaways will be, but we are grateful to the players that will help us learn more.

This is just one project out of many that we have been working on in order to invest in the foundational technology of EVE Online, building on initiatives such as the 64-bit client introduction, and the Aether Wars project that was conducted with Hadean.

On 5 October 2020, there will be an update to the pricing of all Omega and Skill Extractor products for players paying using the Pound Sterling (GBP). This is being done in order to bring GBP prices in line with other main currencies (USD/EUR). Active Omega subscriptions will also be affected, and will update automatically after 5 October.

The main reason for the price change is that changes in currency conversion over the past few years have created an imbalance between the pricing in GBP, USD and EUR.
Furthermore, the prices have not changed since 2014, so these must be updated in order to maintain relative consistency across EVE Online's many markets.

On the same date, there will be an update to the pricing of various EVE Online products for Steam users paying with BRL, MXN, ZAR, TRY, ARS, UYU, NOK, and INR. The increase in prices will encompass Omega subscription, PLEX, Multiple Character Training and some bundles. Active Omega subscriptions will also be affected, and will update automatically after 5 October.

The prices for these products will be increasing on Steam for a number of reasons. First and foremost is that changes in currency conversion over the past few years have created an imbalance between the pricing in various currencies.

Furthermore, the prices have not changed since 2014, so these must be updated in order to maintain relative consistency across EVE Online's many markets.

Here are the new USD conversion rates that will be used:

Having this information in advance means that you have time to top up your Omega, stock up on PLEX, etc. at the current prices in order to prepare adequately for the changes.

We will be monitoring the change in currency conversion over the next few months in order to see if any other adjustments may be needed.
