Lightning Strikes now live

The Lightning Strikes event is now live in EVE Online! Coinciding with the end of Gathering Storm and the release of the new EDENCOM ship line, the Lightning Strikes event will run until 11:00 UTC on 29 June.

With secret Upwell Covert Research Facilities in lowsec and parts of nullsec having come under attack and been destroyed by Rogue Drones, Capsuleers can enter the sites and face off against the Rogue Drones, looting the Upwell tech from the wreckage.

In addition, each event site offers the chance of spawning a rare escalation that can be investigated for additional rewards.

Rewards include manufacturing and invention materials, Skill Books, and more related to the new EDENCOM ship line, which have been built exclusively for them by Upwell to aid in the fight against the Triglavian Collective.

The new EDENCOM Skybreaker (Frigate), Stormbringer (Cruiser) and Thunderchild (Battleship) belong to their own EDENCOM ship tree and are equipped to carry a brand new ship weapon called the Arcing Vorton Projector, based on Upwell's technology for the chain lightning-style superweapon found on Keepstar structures.

PLEX for GOOD and Project Discovery Phase Three

Pioneering Capsuleers,

The PLEX for GOOD collection for COVID-19 has been an incredible success, resulting in one of the largest amounts collected by EVE Capsuleers for any good cause to date! The collection period came to an end on 11 June at 11:00 UTC, with the EVE community raising a staggering $135,550!

Endorsed by the President of Iceland and contributed to by many many Capsuleers, the funds from this PLEX for GOOD collection will be going to the World Health Organization COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security (CHS).

As one initiative ends, another popular campaign returns for its third installment; it's time for Project Discovery again! You are invited to join the growing ranks of Capsuleers who have contributed to real world science through a mini-game within EVE Online, the results of which will assist in the understanding of how our bodies react to pathogens.

The newest iteration of Project Discovery allows you to analyze data produced by flow cytometers. Using a tracing tool, you will draw polygons around clusters of cells. In doing so, you will participate in analyzing COVID-19 data, as well as other related flow cytometry charts, which will help scientists understand better how our immune systems are impacted by this novel coronavirus.

Specifically, you will be demarcating different cell populations present in blood. That data will provide information about how infections and other factors impact immune systems. Your polygons aid scientists in understanding how different cell populations and types are altered through infection.

Log in to EVE Online and check out the detailed in-game Project Discovery tutorial for full details of how to participate and begin aiding the cause of real science once more!

15% Off Skill Extractors 10x Pack

Get 15% off a 10x pack of Skill Extractors from EVE Online's New Eden Store between 11:00 UTC on 12 June and 11:00 UTC on 14 June!

You can use Skill Extractors to take Skill Points from your character and sell them on the player market as Skill Injectors to other Capsuleers for ISK.

You can also extract Skill Points and use them to develop your own character in other desired areas. Even though this process reduces the number of Skill Points in your skill tree overall, it is great for re-allocating them to areas you would much rather focus on and take control of your gameplay!

You can read more about the use of Skill Extractors in our Help Center article.
