Eve Online is letting you tackle space with spreadsheets

Eve Online has revolutionized space games forever after launching its Microsoft Excel add-in. Players have long joked about Eve Online being a "spreadsheet simulator," but it seems that CCP Games is taking this reputation as an organization-heavy experience to the next level. The Icelandic developer first announced the integration of Excel earlier this week, going on to fully implement Microsft's program in Eve Online just one day later. ‘Spreadsheets in Space’, EVE Online, now has actual spreadsheets thanks to Microsoft Excel compatibility

Because nothing is just a joke anymore, EVE Online - CCP’s sprawling starship MMO jokingly nicknamed ‘Spreadsheets in Space’ due to its intense level of complex management - now has an official Microsoft Excel add-in that lets you directly export data to the spreadsheet app.

Those lunatics in Reykjavik have only gone and done it. EVE Online developer CCP games has always had an element of self-knowledge about it, and a unique relationship with its community, who love and loathe EVE with a life-overtaking ardour.
