Celebrate EVE’s 20th Anniversary!
Legendary capsuleers of New Eden,
EVE only turns 20 once, so join the celebrations now and throughout May with a host of activities and plenty more to follow for the rest of this landmark year. The festivities include an extended Capsuleer Day event with exclusive rewards, and the rare opportunity to etch your legacy on the EVE Monument! Then in June, a brand-new expansion – EVE Online: Viridian – will open even more avenues for you to fly and work together for the glory of your corporation and continue to shape New Eden by building on its 20-year legacy.

EVE’s 20th anniversary mosaic image – and video – are now live, so a huge thank you to all capsuleers who participated! The mosaic is a tribute to you, the EVE community, the characters you have created, the stories you have lived, and the bonds you have built that form the fabric of New Eden. Be sure to check out the exact location where your contribution to New Eden’s storied history can be found on this tapestry of the finest immortals!
20 YEARS OF CAPSULEERS
EVE’s 20th anniversary extended Capsuleer Day event starts today and will run until 30 May! The event is brimming with challenges and great rewards such as anniversary-themed items, exclusive SKINs obtainable only via this event, a new ship, and more!

Align with the Guri Malakim pirate cooperative, or the SoCT, then take on hacking and combat sites across all security space. The sites can reward you with new boosters, Glamourex boosters, new Capsuleer Day XX SKINs on Guristas, Angel Cartel, and SoCT ships, as well as Genolution implants. In addition, PvP loot drops will increase from 50% to 75% for the duration of the event!

Making Capsuleer Day even more essential are the rewards you get by logging in daily, with Omega pilots able to claim a new SOCT ship as well as existing ones, over half a million Skill Points, thousands of EverMarks, and awesome boosters on top of the Alpha rewards, which include special boosters, Capsuleer Day XX fireworks, plus more special Capsuleer Day XX SKINs. If you upgrade to Omega after the event has begun, you can retroactively claim the previous Omega rewards.

You may also wish to listen closely to the login music in case you recognize it from somewhere…
EXPLOSIVE CELEBRATIONS
Jita 4-4 will be the hottest location in the cluster on Saturday 6 May culminating with a firework extravaganza at 19:00 UTC!

If you can’t be there in the clone flesh, make sure to join the 20th anniversary livestream festivities on CCP TV which kick off at 17:00 UTC with prizes and giveaways. CCP Hellmar joins the stream at 18:00 to discuss EVE history and will then undock from Jita at 19:00 to join the firework extravaganza. At 20:00 Spectre Fleet takes over on the CCP TV channel to celebrate their birthday with their 600th roam!
A MONUMENTAL HISTORY
This year is all about making history in EVE, so don’t miss out on this extremely rare opportunity to etch your own legacy on the soon-to-expand EVE Monument in Reykjavik while you still can! Make sure you are an active Omega pilot on 6 May to have your character name added to the monument or gain a coveted titan chevron icon next to your name if it’s already there.
LEGENDS & LEGACIES - ANNIVERSARY OFFERS AND MERCH
Further cause for celebration comes in the form of brand-new 20th Anniversary packs in the EVE Store, plus SKIN & apparel bundles in the New Eden Store!

The Elite XX Legends Pack and Elite XX Immortals Pack provide Omega, PLEX, Skill Points, cerebral accelerators, as well as Capsuleer Elite XX SKINs, and men & women’s character apparel. Both packs are only available until 23:59 UTC on 15 May in the EVE Store and can only be purchased once per account!

At the same time, the New Eden Store is offering three different SKIN bundles, catering for Tech I, Tech II & III, and industrialist ships, as well as an apparel bundle, all until 30 May.

There is also 20th anniversary-themed merchandise available now in the EVE Merch Store, so you can continue celebrating 20 years in space wherever you are!

EVE Online: Viridian – NEW EXPANSION IN JUNE

As if there was not enough to celebrate already, a brand-new expansion for EVE Online is on its way, as mentioned in the Producer’s Letter earlier this year!

EVE Online: Viridian is coming in June 2023 and will open even more avenues for players to forge new relationships, fly and work together for the glory of their corporation, further shaping New Eden and building upon 20 years of legacy in space. You can start getting excited for structure customization, new Tech II capital ships, plus corporation goals and content such as the much-anticipated Loyalty Point tax!

EVE Online: Viridian will empower capsuleers to come together and work towards a joint purpose, set by their corporation leaders and involving many playstyles. Having members access and track fresh challenges will help corps invest in their future, as well as assisting with corp management, automating the tracking of member contributions towards corp goals, and increasing the quality of life for all members – all of whom will have an important role to fulfill for the greater good of their organization. These are the first steps towards focusing corp member activities into aiding war efforts from beyond the frontlines in the future.

As part of the EVE Online: Viridian expansion, corporations will also be able to spend their collected corp EverMarks on the visual customization of player owned Upwell structures. This will give the appointed corp members the power, tools, and agency to brand these structures, cementing their corp identity in the landscape of New Eden.

As EVE officially enters its third decade on the path to forever, you will band together, rise to the challenge, and do your part for your corp, flying together as one. More will be revealed over the coming weeks, so consider permission to get hyped granted.

EVE may be forever, but it will only turn 20 once, and there are many activities and celebrations to get involved in, not least of all EVE Fanfest 2023 in September. Ensure your legacy is carved into that illustrious history, join the festivities, and set course for a third decade of interstellar greatness.

Get into the spirit and share your favorite stories, screenshots, moments, and memories of EVE Online using the hashtag #eveonline20 as the revelry explodes around you!

Visual upgrades across New Eden
Capsuleers,
Today marks the roll out of new visual upgrades that enhance the beauty of EVE Online. Now you’ll witness unlimited shadows throughout New Eden. Where shadows used to be limited to 16 in busy scenes - now there are no restrictions, and they’ll look much clearer and sharper. You expect a shadow? You’ll see a shadow.

How the client implements the graphical settings for shadows has also been reworked. Shadows will now always be rendered at all settings other than ‘disabled’, with the filtering of shadows being adjusted to allow a balance between quality and performance. Your entire visual experience will now also be much smoother thanks to new anti-aliasing techniques that smooth edges and improve textures for ships, stations and the landscape across New Eden. It also puts an end to "specular aliasing" which manifests itself as shimmering pixels, so you’ll now be able to appreciate the contours and textures of your spectacular ship in all its glory when flying around in space. The new anti-aliasing implementation moves us away from an older method which included MSAA (Multisample Anti-Aliasing) to a pure TAA (Temporal Super Sampling Anti-Aliasing) approach.

Due to an entire rewrite of how anti-aliasing is calculated and with several optimizations, performance is around the same as before, even with this better image quality. However, due to the change in how anti-aliasing is generated, it does come with a small caveat: low / medium AA is no longer available when using low / medium shader settings. This is currently a technical limitation due to how the game is rendered at the moment but will be revisited at a later date.

As part of the EVE Evolved initiative, the commitment to enhancing your gameplay means sharper, smoother, and more visually stunning updates that bring New Eden to life.

New Fanfest Community Events!
Globetrotting Capsuleers,
Fanfest 2023 is bringing pilots from across the globe to Reykjavík to share their passion and friendship, and celebrate 20 incredible years of EVE Online. Marking a major milestone for EVE, the gathering in Iceland’s capital is shaping up to be the most memorable Fanfest yet. And with three new community events just added to the schedule, it’s a place to forge memories you’ll cherish for years.

You can learn more about all the new events – the Friday Fleet-Up, The (LAN) Party at the Top of the World, and Midnight Northern Lights Explorer Tour with EVE Devs – down below.

Before that, if you're curious about coming to the EVE Fanfest 2023, it’s a three-day EVE community festival taking place in Reykjavík, filled with parties, presentations, opportunities to hang out with devs and fellow pilots, insight into what comes next for EVE, and exploration of Iceland’s remarkable landscape and culture. As excitement builds around EVE’s 20th Anniversary, tickets for the Fanfest events are selling faster than ever before. With that in mind, and eager to make this year’s Fanfest an unmissable moment in EVE’s history, the following events have been added:
THE (LAN) PARTY AT THE TOP OF THE WORLD
If you’re looking for a Fanfest event that captures the spirit of what EVE is, you don’t want to miss The (LAN) Party at the Top of the World. It’s a chance to come together and play EVE with old friends and new acquaintances for the first ever Not Fanfest Shoot It (NFSI) roam. Join up to 50 other capsuleers and developers for the biggest EVE Online LAN party ever, at the Arena esports facility in Kópavogur.

The roam will follow the rules of a typical Not Purple Shoot It (NPSI) fleet: players in attendance are expected to put aside their in-game allegiances, form up together and roam as one group whose only loyalty is to each other. Attendees will be using their own player accounts and ships. The fleet compositions being cooked up for the roam will provide fitting options for a range of skill levels and wallet sizes, so if you’re a newer player or don’t have much ISK to throw around there will still be a place for you in the fleet! And whatever your experience, you get a complimentary beer or soda on arrival, and a pizza buffet to fuel your flight time.

The roam will also be livestreamed on CCPTV from Arena’s studio with developer and player hosts, so if you can’t make it to Iceland in person for EVE Online’s milestone 20th birthday Fanfest you can still enjoy the explosions from home. Plus, you might even pick up some sweet prizes while tuning in!

The roam takes place on 20 September from 13:00-17:00. There are only 50 tickets available for this unmissable event, and they’re on sale now. So, get yourself to the official EVE Fanfest page and check the tickets!
FRIDAY FLEET-UP
As much as Fanfest 2023 is about celebrating EVE’s 20th anniversary, it’s equally a chance to meet, catch up with, and hang out with your fellow players. So, if you’re feeling social, the Friday Fleet-Up will bring players together for an unforgettable party in downtown Reykjavik's grand Gamla Bíó venue.

Traditionally, what is usually the infamous Fanfest Pub Crawl’s closing party is only open to those that have joined the crawl. This year, though, we’ve moved it to an even bigger venue, letting us welcome even more pilots to the fun. There will be DJs, dancing (we hope!), and a chance to make happy memories with wingmen and New Eden rivals alike – all down the road from the Kaffi Sólon, where the first Fanfest party was held way back in 2004.

The Friday Fleet-Up takes place on 22 September, running from 21:00-to-01:00. To purchase tickets, head to the official EVE Fanfest page.
MIDNIGHT NORTHERN LIGHTS EXPLORER TOUR WITH DEVS
When tickets for Fanfest 2023’s Midnight Northern Lights tour were made available, they sold out in in a day. With a view to letting as many pilots as possible see the iconic Icelandic spectacle that is the aurora borealis, a new Northern Lights experience has been added to the Fanfest bill. Join players and EVE devs on chase for the Northern Lights with the Midnight Northern Lights Explorer tour with Devs!

We start our journey at the Harpa concert hall, before driving out of the city with an experienced tour guide, who will lead us to the ideal spots and most favourable conditions for seeing a full aurora borealis display.

The Midnight Northern Lights Explorer tour takes place on 20 September, running from 21:00-to-01:00. Again, if you want to purchase tickets for this separate event, head to the official EVE Fanfest page.
OTHER TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE
As excitement for Fanfest 2023 builds, a handful of existing extra events still have spots available. There are still slots for partners and other traveling companions to leave their EVE-loving accomplice to it while they explore Iceland on the Sisters of EVE tour. If you’re quick you can still grab a place at the Charity Dinner with CCP Games' CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, devs, and fellow players. And you’re not too late to embark on the FlyOver Iceland experience with EVE Online Devs. Details of all those events can be found at the official EVE Fanfest page – where you’ll also find all the key detail on attending Fanfest 2023.

There’s no game like EVE Online, and there’s no community celebration like Fanfest. We look forward to joining as many of you as possible as we celebrate 20 incredible years of EVE Online, with a festival like no other. See you in Reykjavík for friendship, fun, and spectacle!
