Uprising Sneak Peek

Courageous capsuleers,

As EVE’s major new narrative-driven expansion Uprising approaches, you can start gearing up for the big day by testing the Frontlines and Advantage systems on the Singularity test server now!

The new Frontlines feature in Factional Warfare (FW) will draw pilots closer to the borders of their opponents and present new rewarding challenges that focus capsuleer efforts towards key, emerging conflict hot spots where empire history will be written! Systems in a FW warzone can have different operational states which are designated as follows:

  • Frontline - adjacent to an enemy-controlled star system, the absolute heart of the battle, and the highest level of reward!
  • Command Operations - adjacent to a Frontline system, vital for strategic supremacy with standard LP rewards.
  • Rearguard - when none of the above apply, a relative safe zone in the maelstrom.

The operational state of the FW system will determine its properties, such as specific system effects, spawning of sites, Loyalty Point (LP) rewards, and victory point gains. For example, any LP earned through activities in a Frontline system will be subject to a 50% increase in rewards ! Command Operations systems will contain standard LP rewards and specific Command Operations sites which are potentially less dangerous than Frontline systems.

The new Advantage system – also ready for you to try now on Singularity - allows you to give your chosen faction an edge in FW. This edge can be achieved by obtaining a terrain advantage through ownership of adjacent Frontline and Command Operations star systems, through the completion of activities and sites in the FW warzone, and by deploying anchorable, player-built Propaganda Structures. The more involved and victorious your faction is in the warzone, the greater the effect will be on your side’s victory points!

What’s more, to add even more fuel to the building fire of Uprising and the tests on the Singularity test server, we will be hosting a Frontlines wargame on Singularity with some cool rewards on Tranquility for capsuleers and player corporations who distinguish themselves! The wargame will commence on 26 October, with more details to be provided in a follow-up news item coming very soon.

Get involved with the Singularity test now, and Frontlines wargame for the chance to gather data, become more familiar with the new systems, and be ready to fight for your empire when Uprising goes live in November!

Crimson Harvest 2022

Frightful capsuleers,

In space, nobody may be able to hear you scream. But through Halloween, New Eden will be filled with blood-curdling cries of delight as a new season of terrifically terrifying events begins in celebration of the spookiest time of the year.

What that means is that pilots can get some monstrous enjoyment from a range of special events, offers, rewards, loot drops, and more across the Halloween period, running 20 Oct-1 Nov. There’s a lot going on, and if you miss out it might haunt you for years. To make sure that never happens, here’s a roundup of Halloween Horror’s grotesque wonders!
CRIMSON HARVEST
The focal point of this year’s Halloween Horrors season will be the Crimson Harvest, which lets pilots throw themselves into the bloody conflict between the frightfully powerful Blood Raider Covenant and the Order of Tetrimon, an Amarr-aligned order of fundamentalist warrior monks. Head into the star cluster between 20 October and 1 November, and you’ll find special combat and hacking sites for both sides spread through Highsec, Lowsec, Nullsec, and wormhole systems.

Elsewhere, more challenging sites that promise more valuable rewards will be placed throughout the Eugidi, Hed, and Angils constellations within factional warfare Lowsec, and across the Blood Raider controlled systems in Delve. Some have even reported ghostly voices that speak of deeper, more demanding sites hidden somewhere in New Eden. To track those down, pilots will have to face the horrors of escalations of the Crimson Harvest advanced combat sites.

Want to get involved? All you need to do is pick a side through the Agency section for the event, before taking on unique sets of challenges, and rewards specific to your selected loyalty.
TRICK OR TREAT
Throughout the Crimson Harvest event, PvP kills will drop loot at a special increased rate, averaging around 90% instead of the regular 50%. The wrecks of your targets will be marked with a special pumpkin icon, letting you know that there’s a bounty to be carved from their remains. Just be sure that, as you scour for treats, you don’t get tricked by lurking enemies who can turn your hull into the next wreck.
DEMONICALLY DELIGHTFUL REWARDS
Pilots will receive their own special rewards for each day they log into EVE during the Halloween Horrors period, up to a maximum of nine of the 12 total days. There will be separate login rewards for Alpha and Omega pilots, with Omegas enjoying both sets of rewards. The rewards on offer include Skill Points, time-limited combat boosters, Scarlet Embrace parade fireworks and launcher, and brand-new Crimson Harvest ‘Deathglow Remnant’ ship SKINs that will strike fear into all who see them.
DEVILISHLY GOOD DEALS
A pair of unmissable deals are also running in conjunction with EVE’s Halloween celebrations, helping pilots make the most of Crimson Harvest. Head to the EVE Store between 20 and 24 October, and you’ll find a range of skill boosting bundles available at 15% off their full price. Grab yourself an Advanced Boost Bundle, Specialist Boost Bundle, Expert Boost Bundle, or Skill Surge Pack and go wreak havoc in the Crimson Harvest conflict.

Alternatively, from 25-30 October, the EVE Store will be offering 2-for-1 deals on Extractors and Daily Alpha Injectors. Get 20 Skill Extractors for the price of 10, 10 for the price of five, or two for the price of one! Meanwhile, you can pick up 20 Daily Alpha Injectors for the price of 10, or 10 for the price of five. There’s a lot to do this Halloween, so why not boost your potential to make the most of EVE’s scariest season?
AN ABYSSAL COMPETITION
If the Crimson Harvest event leaves you thirsty for more PvP action, then the Abyssal Proving Grounds have you covered, with an action-packed frigate free-for-all running from 28-31 October. For this round, all ships that join the fray will receive a bonus that increases Stasis Webifier range by 40%, increases Energy Nosferatu and Neutralizer drain amount by 30%, increases turret damage by 20%, adds +500 base armor and hull hitpoints, and causes Energy Nosferatu modules to drain capacitor regardless of your own capacitor level. It’s going to be frightfully intense! Check out EVE News for more details on 26 October.

Totality Day Returns

Glorified Kybernauts,

Two years ago, following months of ceaseless conflict between the tenuously united Empires under EDENCOM, the resurfaced Triglavian Collective, and innumerable capsuleers or Kybernauts aiding both sides, the campaign of Liminal Proving heralded by Zorya Triglav came to a close.

As a 27th system processed into Final Liminality, the Collective evoked Totality from the transmuted stars, altering spacetime between them to bridge the boundary between New Eden and Abyssal Deadspace. Weaving the systems together with conduit gates, each Clade soon claimed their Krai – and the leviathan conduit-loop construct known as the Domain of Pochven was defined.

Today, Kybernauts across New Eden celebrate the second anniversary of the formation of Pochven on Totality Day, a capsuleer holiday started by those who aided the Triglavian Collective in their campaign – but celebrations haven’t gone unnoticed, and pilots of all allegiances will be able to take part, with festivities, a special new Totality Day pack, a Kikimora Proving Grounds event, and more!
PROVING ACROSS POCHVEN
During Totality Day celebrations (running 13-18 October), Kybernauts and capsuleers alike are invited to a week of intense and glorifying combat throughout every system in Pochven – where you can enjoy a special 90% PVP Loot Drop rate for the duration of the event, as well as an extra warp speed bonus. Prove your potential against your fellow pilots, and have fun!
DIALECTIC DEMOLITION
Celebrate Totality Day in true Triglavian fashion with a special Abyssal Groving Ground event, open for only 24 hours, starting at 11:00 UTC on the 15 October; board Svarog Clade’s ruthless Kikimora-class destroyer and fight your way to glorification in intense 1v1 combat!
GOOD THINGS COME IN THREES
Strive for glorification in style with the Trinary Triumph Pack, available from 13-18 October as part of the Totality Day celebrations. Warp to the EVE Store and take advantage of treats in triplicate, including Veles Clade apparel, 3 Kybernaut Clade SKINs & Cerebral Accelerators, 333 PLEX, and 300,000 Skill Points!
NES SKIN SALE
Snag Kybernaut Clade and Blackfire Steel SKINs for a selection of Triglavian and Empire ships at a 53% discount in the NES from 13-18 October in celebration of Totality Day!
DAILY GIFTS
Log in daily for bonus Agency Boosters, Filaments, and Skill Points throughout the festivities!

No matter where your loyalties lie, there’s something for every capsuleer to enjoy during the Totality Day celebrations. Fly fiercely, Kybernauts – we’ll see you in space!

Dialectic Demolition in the Proving Grounds!

Ceaseless Kybernauts,

Celebrate the second anniversary of Pochven’s formation with a factionally festive Abyssal Proving Ground event, facing off in single combat against your fellow pilots in an ever-upward clash aboard Svarog Clade’s fierce Kikimora!

This special event begins at 11:00 UTC on 15 October and will run for exactly one day, concluding at 11:00 UTC on 16 October.
The ruleset is as follows:
• Only the Kikimora may enter – show your strength on even ground!

  • Pilots receive 10m ISK for every match where they deal at least 2000 damage

  • Turret and missile damage is increased by 50%

  • All ships gain +500 shield, armor, and hull HP

  • 100% bonus to the benefits of overheating tackle, propulsion, repair, resistance, and energy warfare modules, as well as turrets and missile launchers

  • Shield rechargers, boost amplifiers, power relays, and flux coils, core defense field purgers, sensor dampeners, and weapon disruptors cannot be fitted

  • Ships entering this arena may fit a maximum of one local repair module

  • Modules are restricted to meta level 5 and below

Glorification and gore go hand-in-hand in this facet of the Triglavian philosophy of Proving, and no one is better-equipped to make the most of both than the Kybernauts and Capsuleers of New Eden; so fit your Kikimoras, grab your event filaments (available in Abyssal Deadspace caches, in Triglavian wrecks in Pochven, or on the in-game market), and celebrate Totality Day in true Triglavian fashion!

EVE Evolved

Upstanding capsuleers,

The sweeping changes detailed previously in EVE Evolved – Performance is Primary are now live on Tranquility! We announced some of these features during this year’s Fanfest, and are excited for you to get your hands on them in this update.

This all comes as part of our EVE Evolved initiative where we strive to bring cutting-edge visual and technical capabilities to New Eden. Log into EVE today to experience smoother performance both for your eyes and your ears, supported by the clean and modern Photon UI!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
A NEW ERA FOR SOUND
With immediate effect, the new sound prioritization system has been enabled in EVE, bringing the soundscape of New Eden’s battles to life with new levels of detail and clarity. The client will no longer try to play all sounds at once; instead, only the most important or relevant sound effects will grace your ears. While it might seem like a minor change, everyone should experience significant CPU usage improvement in busy scenes better showcasing EVE’s beautiful sounds of destruction.

Beyond the performance lift, the sound prioritization system doesn’t just take immersion to new levels; you’ll also be able to hear and understand the battlefield soundscape more clearly, giving you a better sense of the conflict evolving around you. Read all about it in the recent Sound Prioritization Dev Blog!
SUPREME SMOOTHNESS WITHOUT SACRIFICE
Those of you with AMD FreeSync™ or NVIDIA® G-SYNC® monitors and GPUs are in for a treat, too, as the technology has now been enabled in EVE Online. By leveraging a Variable Refresh Rate, EVE will now be able to offer supreme smoothness at a level previously not possible when vertical synchronisation alone was enabled. Best of all, this comes without any performance impact at all. If you’re interested in the tech then check out the AMD FreeSync™ Dev Blog.
A UI EVOLUTION
To complete this beautiful trifecta of improvements, Photon UI has been further modernized, now introduced as an opt-out Beta! The Neocom has now undergone a makeover, matching the modernity of Photon and improving legibility overall. This comes alongside an update to the notifications, replacing red dots with a more subtle highlight, and an enhanced compact mode giving you more control over how you view your inventory.

Photon UI is now an opt-out feature for all users, meaning that it will be exposed to more players than ever before. This vital step will help us collect data on what works and what doesn’t even faster, meaning that Photon UI can be further improved. You can still opt out for now, but please do share your reasoning for doing so on the EVE forums to help everyone!
COMING SOON TO A SOLAR SYSTEM NEAR YOU!
In our Uprising expansion this November, we’ll be delivering more EVE Evolved features which will allow you to experience new heights of audio and visual fidelity, along with improved performance.

  • Better Turret Audio
    • Experience battlefield clarity with refined audio and less sonic pollution

  • New Faction Warfare Music
    • Lose yourself to the new soundtracks as you go deeper into the FW sites

  • AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution 1.0
    • This upscaling technology helps boost your framerate in EVE by balancing image quality and render speed for a smoother experience

  • Ambient Occlusion
    • Improved shading and rendering techniques will power visual upgrades to all Upwell Hangars

  • Object Instancing
    • This technology empowers our artists to incorporate more detail in a scene than ever before with minimal impact on performance. It will first become available with Upwell Hangars in the Uprising expansion!
And that’s not all for EVE Evolved! We’ll have more to share in the months to come, such as:

  • Doppler Shift
    • The Doppler effect enhances the audible sense of movement between objects, giving you a more immersive space flight

  • Multithreaded Rendering
    • Increased performance by allocating the rendering workload across multiple CPU cores

  • Improved Shadows
    • Adding realism and beauty, improved shadows will increase the visceral experience of your New Eden journey
LEAD UP TO UPRISING
In the weeks to come, you can also expect to see additional quality of life improvements making their way to New Eden including a series of updates live today that will help you move your forces across space much easier and more smoothly than before!

The significant Ship Maintenance Array Update eases restrictions on what items can be added to your Capital Ship Maintenance Bay, allowing you to move ships with refits without restriction.

There is also a reduction in volume of all Battleships bringing high volume ships down to 470,000 m3 allowing better space management for capitals. The Uprising expansion is just around the corner and we can’t wait to see what you’ll get up to following this exciting narrative driven expansion!

Every one of these improvements – and EVE Evolved more broadly – are part of ‘EVE Forever’; a mantra and mindset that guides the journey to continually push and evolve EVE far into the future.
