Addressing Community Safety

In the past week, we have been made aware of several disturbing allegations that have taken place outside of our official channels yet, nonetheless have no place in the EVE Online experience. Some cases have directly violated our Event Code of Conduct. We take these allegations seriously and have already taken steps to investigate them, submitting evidence to proper authorities as appropriate.

While New Eden offers you the freedom of expression in the sandbox, we must balance in-game identity and freedom with the long-term health of the EVE player community, ensuring it is a space in which all feel welcome and safe. Any form of harassment, hate speech, intolerance, racism, or abuse taking place as outlined in the Real-Life Harassment and Threats policy will not be tolerated.

We wholeheartedly support the players’ courage in speaking up about their experiences. While these are challenging topics to discuss, we encourage you to report any incidents to proper authorities. We are committed to building a safer and stronger EVE community together.

We acknowledge that this is a complex issue that will take time and continued discussion to address in the long term. We would like to invite you to take part in this by opening a dialog to identify ways we can help create a safer environment for you and your friends. With your help, we can turn this into a defining moment that will inform the direction we set together.

We are starting the mending process by taking the following actions:
 • Anyone found breaking EVE Online’s Terms of Service may be blocked from applying for the EVE Online Partnership Program, Council of Stellar Management, Interstellar Services Department, or any other program at the discretion of CCP. Further, we will not officially collaborate, support, or allow them to participate in any CCP-led community contests, tournaments, initiatives, or projects.
 • Anyone found breaking the Event Code of Conduct or deemed a danger to others will not be allowed to participate in official player gathering events, such as Fanfest. We also will not officially support or attend player events that harbor such individuals and do not abide by the Event Code of Conduct.

The above is only the beginning. We will roll out more initiatives focused on improving the health and safety of all players in the upcoming months.

If you have experienced or witnessed harassment or offensive behavior during a CCP organized player gathering or a CCP supported event, or are concerned about attendee safety at future events, it would be greatly appreciated if you would file a report with CCP via email to [email protected]. Your story is important to us as we work towards taking steps to ensure the safety of all players at CCP events and gatherings.

Fly Safe.

1v1 Battlecruiser Proving Grounds Clash

Battle-ready Capsuleers,

The new Abyssal Proving Grounds season is starting with a bang, with the first round focusing on high intensity 1v1 battlecruiser combat.

In this unique round – running 23-25 July exclusively – you’ll find the arena scattered with high numbers of exploding Bonus Nexus objects. Get too close to one and you’ll detonate it, triggering a blast that applies weapon and mobility buffs to your ship... but not your rival’s. And if they blow up a Nexus object, they’ll enjoy the same gains. It’s a sure-fire way to mix up the dynamic of each battle, bringing plenty of twists of fate and dramatic finishes.

If that weren’t enough, this Proving Grounds round introduces a repeatable challenge. Deal at least 7000 damage to your opponent in a single battle, and you’ll get a 20 million ISK reward.

All ships that enter the arena will also gain double the benefits of overheating the following module groups:
 • Tackle Modules
 • Propulsion Modules
 • Repair Modules
 • Resistance Modules
 • Energy Warfare Modules
 • Turrets
 • Launchers

To keep things moving and ensure every round excites, sensor dampeners, weapon disruptors, shield boost amplifiers, shield rechargers, shield power relays, shield flux coils, and core defense field purgers are all banned for this event. You’ll also have to limit yourself to a maximum of one fitted local repair module across shields and armor. Additionally, modules, boosters or implants with a meta level higher than 5 are also prohibited.

Planning to dive into the explosive action of 1v1 battlecruiser combat? Then grab those Proving Filaments and make your way to the Proving Grounds between 23 and 25 July. And be sure to check those Proving Grounds leaderboards to track Capsuleer performance and rewards through the event.

Community Beat for 15 July

Welcome back, Capsuleers!

Player meets and in-game events were all the rage in the last Community Beat, and this week we’ve got quite the Beat in more ways than one! Sit back, strap in, and enjoy!
Liberation Day
Move over Federation Day, July is all about the Seven Tribes! This week Ushra’Khan hosted Liberation Day festivities in the system of Pator, complete with an impressive fireworks display and – in true Matar fashion – a Rifter free-for-all brawl. StineControl outlasted the competition and took the first place prize of two billion ISK. Well played!
Faction Mysteries Continue
The few weeks has seen communication from representatives of both the Gallente Federation and the Caldari State over the constellation of Serthoulde in the Placid region. Members of the Arataka Research Consortium continue to uncover bits of information gathered around the system of Athounon and have compiled a new video with their latest findings.

The constellation of Eugidi in Metropolis has come under similar focus for the Minmatar and Amarr forces nearby, with representatives from each faction urging Capsuleers in the respective militias to secure the constellation for yet unknown reasons…
ParodEVE
Nothing excites us more than watching players show off their incredible talent. Going back to the early days of EVE, players have taken it upon themselves to make amazing EVE inspired parody songs. From the dulcet tones of “Uncle Suas” KIATolon, inspiring the rhythmic bops of Sindel Pellion, to the ever-impressive propaganda master Srsli. Now we welcome a new name into the EVE Parody scene – Equialiser11. Check out his latest song, and be on the lookout for his upcoming DnB project using various sounds of New Eden!
Battle Report – EVE’s First Caiman!
In a game that is turning 20, you’d think there would be very few “firsts” left. Thanatos Atheno was not deterred by this fact, and this week became the first pilot ever to fall in combat with the impressive Guristas faction Dreadnought: Caiman.

He perhaps would not have earned this feat on any other day. Unbeknownst to Thanatos Atheno, Snuffed Out were patrolling the system looking for a completely different target. Snuffed Out scouts were caught off guard when the Caiman warped off to the Oimmo gate to prepare for glorious battle. Nada Red, who was commanding the fleet that ended up bagging this prestigious kill, had this to say

(The Caiman) was showing no sign of breaking (to our BLOPs fleet), so the Supers we had moved in were brought in to finish it off. It still takes a bit but he eventually capped himself out and died.

As this was happening, a Pandemic Horde Nidhoggur and Phoenix also entered the fray indicating that forces from PH may have also been en route to meet Thanatos and his Caiman.
Team Security Q&A!
Keeping EVE safe from botting, account hacking, RMT, and fraud is a never-ending battle that Team Security valiantly fight. In The Team Security blog, they highlight some of their efforts over the last year.
GM Stinger and GM Aisling will be hosting a Team Security Q&A on the Official EVE Online Discord on 19 July at 15:00 UTC. All the questions are sourced and voting on by the EVE Community – so be sure to tune in!

Head on over to the EVE Online forums to let us know what you’ve been up to, or what you’d like to hear on the Beat. If you’ll be attending TwitchCon, or will be in Amsterdam this weekend, be on the lookout for CCP Convict, CCP Swift, and CCP Alpha who will be in attendance. They may even have a little bit of EVE swag with them, so check in on Twitter to see where they might be both at the venue and hosting informal meetups in the area.
