The Hunt Returns

Relentless Capsuleers,

The Hunt returns to New Eden for YC124. Join your fellow Capsuleers in the hunt for Mysterious Capsules found at random celestials across the cluster. Check your directional scanner and start the hunt at planets, moons, asteroid belts, and stars to uncover these colorful capsules. Crack one open to receive a key to enter one of the many Guristas Hunt sites.

Guristas Hunt Outposts can be found anywhere and are combat sites suited for tech 1, tech 2, and faction frigates and destroyers. You’ll also find Hunt Data Relay sites to complete. Both types of sites will reward you with unique loot limited to The Hunt such as the coveted C3-X 'Hivaa Saitsuo' Ballistic Control System!

Even better, Hunt sites this year will now drop double the loot if you can secure a kill on the combat site mini boss. Data sites also have more cans to hack and more loot to get away with. There has never been a better time to hunt for loot!

Up for more of a challenge? Head to Venal or Caldari Lowsec to find the more difficult Guristas Huntmaster Outposts and even a brand-new site suited for capital ships! Seek these difficult sites and the rewards will be worth the risk. Be sure to bring along a Hunt Acceleration Gate Key from a Mysterious Capsule to get a shot at the best loot in each site.

And for the PvP players out there? Mysterious Capsules aren’t the only pods to hunt during the event. Catch and loot player pods to find their implants still intact. Who ever said second-hand Snakes aren’t still good?
Hunt for the Golden Pod
Following an infiltration into the Caldari state by suspected sleeper agents of unknown origin, a number of capsules have fled from Jita 4-4 and are making their way towards Venal and Caldari Lowsec. It is said that the defectors are led by a high-ranking director of the Caldari Navy Research and Development Division, Esri Hakuzosu.

The Scope has released a report on this infiltration, watch it below to find out more about these mysterious capsules found seemingly all across New Eden.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Esri Hakuzosu’s team previously worked on advanced capital ship construction and development and it is said that she fled with data fragments from the R&D department – something that both the Caldari and Guristas want back. Among hundreds of decoy capsules, a small number of golden pods seem to be carrying the defectors and the all-important data fragments.

Find these golden pods during The Hunt and turn in their data fragments to empire states for a hefty reward!

Let the Hunt Begin

Road to Fanfest – Full Throttle!

Heads up, Capsuleers!

EVE Online and New Eden are powering towards Fanfest 2022, and the latest round of exciting updates mentioned in the Road to Fanfest – Ever Closer blog are now live in-game, with some bonus additions based on player feedback! Structure updates that introduce more ship variety in combat, balance changes to the Rorqual, stealth bombers, Proteus, a revamp of daily login bonuses - and more - make up the latest volley in a string of updates leading up to and beyond EVE Fanfest 2022.
STANDUP AND DELIVER

There have been many changes to Upwell structures since their launch in 2016, and in order to create more exciting gameplay around attacking and defending them, the updates that target the balancing of fighting in and around them are live now.

The Standup Point Defense Battery will soon require it to use ammunition loaded into the module, as well as giving it a longer reload time. This will create downtime for the Point Defense Battery so that there are windows for counterplay where small ships can drop into a fight and warp off before it’s reloaded and ready to fire again.

In addition, the volume of the new ammo has been reduced from 5m3/round down to 1m3/round. The blueprints for the ammo are now live in-game, as is the reduction in damage the Point Defense Battery can put out (making it more useful for clearing interdiction bubbles than entire fleets of smaller ships). The longer reload time and ammo loading requirement will be implemented a little bit later in order to allow you time to build the required ammo.

The Standup Guided Bomb Launcher now holds fewer bombs and takes longer to reload the launcher when all bombs are spent. This will create windows where bomb use is more tactical and not the primary defensive weapon a structure has in its arsenal.

The damage of Standup Anti-Capital Missiles has been reduced so that Capsuleers will be more willing to field capitals during a siege. Attackers will be less at risk of paying more for dropping a few dreads than the structure they're attacking costs - at least without defenders putting their own ships on grid.

While their anti-capital use has been adjusted, the missile speed of Standup Missiles has been increased so that they remain able to catch and damage subcapital ships.

Standup Arcing Vorton Projectors have had their ability to target subcapital ships removed. As a result, they now cannot be used purely to headshot enemy fleet commanders as well as further reinforcing their purpose as anti-capital defense.
RORQUAL HOTDROP & PORPOISE PURPOSE

The new Industrial Jump Portal Generator I module for the Rorqual is also now live in-client, providing it with a new and powerful maneuverability & logistics tool. Mining operations across Nullsec and Lowsec will transform as Rorquals can now conduit jump 30 mining ships next to them, allowing for better logistics for large-scale mining operations. In addition, taking note of your feedback that the perspective purpose of the Porpoise is central to mining fleets, it can now join the conduit jump as part of the Rorqual’s mining fleet!

Combined with unparalleled boosts and compression, along with the already powerful PANIC modules – and the fact that it will be able to jump to industrial cynos - the Rorqual cements itself as the most powerful mining support ship New Eden has ever seen.
POWER TO THE PROTEUS

Since the Bolstered Bulkheads resistance buff placed a spotlight on Tech III cruisers, changes have been made to the once-strong-but-recently-underperforming and popular Proteus to bring it more in line with other ships in the range. Its potential has been further unlocked through an easing up of its fitting space to allow the Proteus to more comfortably fit a 1600mm plate alongside a full rack of neutron blasters without necessitating spending a valuable low slot or rig on a fitting module. The plate mass change also gives it a slight speed boost to make it a bit more mobile while armor plates are fitted, making it just slightly easier to get into a position to use those blasters effectively.

In addition, and again with your feedback in mind, the Proteus’ Drone Synthesis Projector offensive subsystem has had its CPU output increased to 60tf and its drone bandwidth increased to 125Mbit/sec, meaning it can now field 5 heavy drones at once. Its drone bay has also had its capacity increased to 300m3. This allows the Proteus to compete more effectively with other similar cruiser options for its cost. Don’t forget, there is no longer any skill level loss when you lose your Tech III cruiser!

To celebrate these updates to the Proteus, the Inner Zone Vanguard SKIN is returning to the New Eden Store with a 25% discount, and you can also get the Skyliner and Serpentis SKINs for the Proteus at 25% off, too! Act fast as these SKINs will only be discounted until 12 April, giving you enough time to buy or dust off your Proteus, give it a fierce look, and return it to glory!
STEALTHCARE

Historically in EVE, organized groups of stealth bombers have always contributed interesting counterplay to battleships - all while showing off the very high skill cap that a well-orchestrated bombing run requires. So, as groups are building their battleship reserves, an issue fix here has increased the strength of stealth bombers as they receive a cooldown reduction for bomb launchers, meaning that they can come back for a second bombing run more rapidly.  With the Bomb Deployment skill trained to level 5, a Tech II bomber can launch a bomb every 67 seconds instead of 120.  A Tech I bomb launcher will have a reactivation delay of 80 seconds, down from 144. Small adjustments will continue to be made as the meta unfolds to ensure that one playstyle doesn’t become too dominant, and players can continue to enjoy more options and diversity.
TEST DRIVE – FEATURE PREVIEW SYSTEM

The new Feature Preview system is live, allowing players to opt-in and engage with complex features still undergoing active development, test driving them directly in the EVE client. The debut preview feature is a UI unification project, aimed at improving consistency and creating a better onboarding experience for new players. Activity within the feature is being monitored and based on feedback from the Singularity test server, window controls have already been made permanent with more changes on the horizon. There were already plans for a compact version of certain windows, and thanks to feedback, we are looking to expand on this aspect of the designs. Stay on the lookout for some of these margin changes coming out over the next few months!

The Feature Preview system can be accessed via the Settings Menu (by pressing 'Esc'), under the 'Feature Previews' tab. Any features available for preview will be listed on the left and can be opted into by selecting them and clicking the 'Enable' button. Enabling (or disabling) these features will often require a restart of the client, after which the selected features will be part of your EVE Online experience.

The features offered in the preview system are temporary and can easily be turned on or off. It is important to note that the features will not be in their final form. Check out the full blog on the Feature Preview System for all the details and be sure to give us feedback on the official forums.
EXPANDED HORIZONS – DAILY LOGIN REVAMP

EVE’s daily login bonus system has been revamped, bringing more variety and better rewards every time you board your capsule and enter New Eden, as well as a fresh UI.

The new rewards include over 250 brand-new SKINs from the Halcyon Dawn and Carmine Horizon lines, as well as almost 150 returning event SKINs – and these will all be permanent! In addition, Skill Points will regularly feature as part of the daily rewards instead of the separate Skill Point track of the previous incarnation, with the overall average number of Skill Points being rewarded remaining the same as before over time.

There will also be more versatile boosters handed out that apply a large variety of small bonuses, making them useful to all types of Capsuleer. Check out the forum post for even more details on the refresh!
BLUEPRINT CHANGES COMING SOON!

The previously mentioned blueprint changes to faction ships, dreadnoughts, and capital ships are taking shape after careful review of the impact that the update to compression has made to the market this March, and we will be sharing the details of these updates mid-April, just before Fanfest.
THE HUNT

The Hunt event will be returning to New Eden very soon! Discover and track down the Mysterious Capsules at random celestials across space for keys to Guristas event combat and hacking sites from 7-19 April.

Guristas Hunt Outposts and Hunt Data Replay exploration sites can be found anywhere, and both will reward you with unique loot limited to The Hunt. For a greater challenge, head to the Venal region or Caldari Lowsec to find the more difficult Guristas Huntmaster combat and exploration sites, and even a brand-new site suited to capital ships.

This year, there will also be rare Mysterious Golden Capsules which can spawn everywhere, but are much more common in Venal and Caldari Lowsec, dropping special loot including multiple site keys and data vaults that you can sell to any of the empires.

Mysterious Capsules aren’t the only pods to hunt during the event. Catch and loot player pods for a chance to loot their implants.
GATE IS GREEN – FANFEST 2022

Fanfest 2022 is a mere month away, and even more changes are coming! With this round of updates, the ones that have gone before, and the ones that are yet to be announced, the Road to Fanfest is a rewarding one that leads to a brighter future for EVE Online and for New Eden. Stay tuned and fly safe (to Iceland)!

Community Beat for April 1st

Greetings fellow Capsuleers and welcome back to another Community Beat!

In the last Community Beat we covered the absolute carnage that was Stay Frosty’s Annual Frigate Free for All, the convergence of the Plex4Good Battleship Brawl, the jamming vibes of the EveWave, and every cartographer’s dream, DOTLAN!

We had a little bit of information come in about the Frigate Free for All – It saw roughly 100b of ISK destroyed throughout the event. We can confidently confirm that this year’s Frigate Free for All crushed the single system lowsec kill record that had previously belonged to… last year’s Frigate Free for all! This year’s Frigate free for all was the 4th bloodiest single-system event in Eve history, only behind the 3 biggest Red vs Blue Poinen high sec FFA’s in 2021 and 2013.

Image was taken just outside the Stay Frosty Astrahus “Toothpaste Fish” during the event.

The buzz was so strong and the desire for blood was so high, that even the following day saw the largest all-time record for most PVP kills across all of low sec space. A record that had been held on May 5th 2013 (the weekend of EVE’s 10th Birthday).
Plex4Good Custom Handmade Ship Models

We all love spaceships, but Imiarr Timshae’s love for spaceships has gone even step further. During our Plex4Good Campaign, they pledged to custom make a ship, 100% from scratch, hand-designed and modelled out of fully recycled materials, with no 3d printed or downloaded components. The winner, a pilot by the name of Aura Glimmer, won with a colossal donation of 800,000 PLEX! Super impressive!

You can check out the thread on the forums here.
Easter Egg Hunt 2022!

Get your Scanner Probes ready and brush up on those D-Scan skills, because on April 26th 2022, Fire Stunner will be running an Easter Egg Hunt – Across 3 different Regions and 25 different systems, PLEX, Skins, Blueprints, Abyssal mods and more will be placed out in space for you to find. The Region names and the Codes to crack the container’s passwords will be released on the day of the event.

Fire Stunner did a short video with the plan and a link to their Discord where they’ll be announcing the passwords on the day which you can check out below:

Fanfest Freight Update!

The preparation for this year’s Fanfest is in full swing and making sure that everything is shipped and ready for delivery, inside and outside of New Eden is always a big task.We recently started the distribution of items across all the stations and.. well, we thought things were going according to plan, but we recently received footage from T’amber that shows that one of the contracted freighters appears to be stuck in the station. Hopefully, they can rock themselves free in time!

Partner Spotlight – John Rourke’s Sofa

That’s right Capsuleers, CCP Chair, through multiple sit-downs with various unscrupulous individuals, has sourced our (literally) largest acquisition to date. John Rourke’s Sofa! Since John’s mysterious disappearance over 10 years ago, we’ve been trying to track him down. We’ve been informed that he loved this sofa like a dear friend, so we’re hoping that by sourcing this sofa that he’ll reach out to us!
Partner Spotlight - Corvus Onzo

New Eden is filled with a plethora of people with different styles and backgrounds and Corvus Onzo fits firmly in the category of low sec, solo and small gang PVP aficionado.

Corvus is a Twitch Streamer and formerly a long-serving member of the Caldari Militia, Corvus became an admirer of the Condor, which features a lot in his engagements and features heavily in his content. Corvus streams over on Twitch Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and occasionally also covers special events! You can find him on Twitch or join his Discord – the “Low Sec Kiting Club” here.

We'd love to hear from YOU, head on over to the Eve Online Forums and share anything that you're enjoying doing or making, we'd love to see it! With Fanfest coming we know you all love to bring things, why not share some of them!

From Friendship to Relationship

Lovestricken Capsuleers,

The only ship better than the friendship is the relationship and who says that relationship can’t be forged with your fellow Capsuleer?
A Match Made in the Abyss
Prove your connection and put your Divinity Social match to the test in the Cruiser Chaos FFA Proving Grounds, starting today and running until 5 April! Because nothing says I love you like a killmail.

This special Proving Grounds event pits you against three other Capsuleers in a chaos era unlike ever before! Either work together or hit them hard and see what they’re truly made of.

All participating ships will be afflicted with one of the following unique bonuses. The winning Capsuleers will be those who can identify and adapt to their environment quickly.
 • Chaos Bonus A:+100% Ship Velocity, +100% Ship Inertia, +100% Capacitor Capacity.

 • Mystery Nexus Debuffs:-25% Ship Velocity, +100% Ship Inertia, +50% Capacitor Recharge Time, +25% Signature Radius, -25% Turret and Missile Damage

Sensor Dampeners, Weapon Disruptors, Shield Rechargers, Shield Power Relays, Shield Flux Coils, and Core Defense Field Purgers are banned in this format. Ships entering this Proving Grounds may have a maximum of one local repair module fitted (shield or armor).

PLEX for GOOD: Ukraine Raises $501,652

Generous Capsuleers,

Together we have achieved something amazing. With the PLEX for GOOD: Ukraine fundraiser now wrapped, together Capsuleers, individual EVE developers and CCP Games have raised a remarkable $501,652 USD. That money will now directly help those impacted by the ongoing war in Ukraine, including the millions forced to flee their homes and lives to find safety.

The total amount will be converted to real world money and donated to both UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and the National Bank of Ukraine Humanitarian Assistance campaign.

UNHCR works in over 130 countries, protecting people forced to flee their homes because of war and persecution. Their effort is focused on life-saving support, safeguarding fundamental human rights and helping them build a better future – and as a result of the current war, UNHCR has increased its focus inside Ukraine and across the neighbouring countries that have provided a safe haven for the million displaced in recent weeks.

The National Bank of Ukraine Humanitarian Assistance, meanwhile, is focusing its efforts on helping those that remain in Ukraine, providing food, shelter, medicine, clothing, shoes, and staple goods to citizens and refugees who have been displaced due to the conflict. The National Bank of Ukraine Humanitarian Assistance also delivers one-off financial aid to those in need, while endeavouring to support the overall needs of the population.
HOW THE MONEY WAS RAISED
You, the amazing Capsuleers of New Eden, proved that kindness and humanity are core values of our EVE community, by contracting PLEX to the in-game character CCP PLEX for GOOD, an account operated by CCP Games. Our developers – who hail from all over the world including Ukraine and Russia – also made numerous donations to PLEX for GOOD themselves, with CCP then matching all total donations for the campaign.

With the war still having such an awful impact on so many millions, it remains a time for empathy with all impacted, and hope for resolutions that lead to lasting peace. Yet the EVE community should rightly feel proud about what you have achieved – it will very directly help other people in great need. At CCP, there is a sense of deep gratitude that the player community has been so generous in coming together.

And looking back across all the PLEX for GOOD campaigns together, in total we have now raised over $1.2 million USD. It’s a true demonstration that EVE community is about a lot more than simply enjoying video games.

 • 2005 - $25,326 – Southeast Asia (tsunami)
 • 2010 - $34,350 – Haiti (earthquake)
 • 2010 - $38,900 – Pakistan (monsoon)
 • 2011 - $44,600 – Japan (earthquake and tsunami)
 • 2011 - $32,900 – United States (Hurricane Irene)
 • 2013 - $190,890 – Philippines (Typhoon Haiyan)
 • 2015 - $103,650 – Nepal (earthquake)
 • 2020 - $107,454 - Australia (bushfires)
 • 2020 - $135,550 - Global (COVID-19)
 • 2022 - $501,652 – Ukraine (war)
STILL WANT TO DONATE?
If you are still looking to donate to help people impacted by the war in Ukraine, we encourage you to make a direct donation to one of the following organizations who are actively providing aid:
A FINAL NOTE
The EVE Online community is about fun, adventure and the excitement that can be found in New Eden. But our collective power also means we can do amazing things – and we should never forget what can be achieved. We have the ability – even responsibility – to make a positive difference to people and the planet we share.

And it all starts with respect, kindness and supporting fellow humans. If we make that the standard in all we do within the EVE community, we can – as PLEX for Good: Ukraine shows – achieve amazing things.
