New Dawn - New Quadrant

Intrepid Capsuleers,

EVE Online’s fourth Quadrant of 2021 - New Dawn - begins today, introducing significant changes to mining and resources! As EVE moves toward a new age of prosperity, Capsuleers can look forward to brighter days ahead in New Eden.
CHANGES TO MINING, COMPRESSION, AND RESOURCES
The journey to strengthen the health and foundation of EVE's ecosystem began nearly two years ago when three phases were laid out in the Ecosystem Outlook article: shortage, re-distribution, and dynamic distribution.

During this time, there have been significant updates to the distribution of resources in the universe, and equally significant changes to how ships are manufactured. Come December, New Eden will move into the next phase of this original plan, as discussed back in 2020.

New Dawn will bring increased resources throughout the universe, extensive updates to mining, a comprehensive rebalancing of EVE's mining ships, and equally significant updates to resource compression.

You’ll be able to read up on all of these exciting updates, as well as get a peek at what the road to prosperity looks like, in a detailed dev blog coming this Friday!
NEW EXPLORATION SITES
Alongside these exciting changes to EVE’s economy, you’ll also be able to experience four new challenging exploration sites, all live today! These are designed to reward the boldest Capsuleers with capital and supercapital construction components.

The AEGIS Capital Ship Security Facility is scattered throughout Lowsec, and features a heavily-guarded security vault, ripe for ransacking. Covert Ops pilots will find much to plunder here.

Disrupt the Rogue Drones as they tend their nurseries in Triglavian-held space by pillaging them as part of the Overmind Nursery Groves sites, found throughout Pochven. Scan, salvage, and cloak your ships for this encounter.

In the AEGIS Secure Transfer Facility, found in Lowsec and wormhole space, EDENCOM oversees the logistics of capital and supercapital production. Track down the transport ship ferrying VIPs in order to learn the location of the EDENCOM construction facility. Strategic cruisers fitted for scanning, combat, and hacking are recommended here.

The AEGIS Secure Capital Construction Forges escalation site is revealed to players who complete the AEGIS Secure Transfer Facility site successfully, and it is fiercely defended. Bring significant firepower with your marauders and dreadnoughts to have any hope of looting this factory!

To help you tackle these new sites in style, there will also be a special 25% offer on select ship skins recommended for exploration sites, including skins on the popular T3 cruisers, in the New Eden Store from 9-16 November.

These sites are currently unavailable and will be going live on Tranquility soon.
FANFEST RETURNS!
As EVE heads confidently into the future, it’s only appropriate that EVE Fanfest makes its triumphant return in 2022! From 6-7 May, Capsuleers will once again descend upon the Laugardalshöll arena for roundtables, developer presentations, player tournaments, and more! Drink with the devs, let loose with the Party at the Top of the World, and learn more about what’s in store for EVE.

Tickets are limited for next year’s event, so secure your place today to ensure you don’t miss out on this epic reunion. For more information, take a look at the EVE Fanfest page.
THE ALLIANCE TOURNAMENT CONTINUES
The revamped Alliance Tournament XVII got underway last weekend, and will conclude across this upcoming weekend, 13-14 November! 75 alliances applied for this year’s tournament, but only 40 survived September’s intense Feeder Tournament.

You can tune in to the nail-biting matches that will decide the victors on CCPTV, from 14:30 UTC on Saturday 13 November. New to the tournament? No problem! The talented production team, EVE_NT, will be on hosting duties, providing insight and analysis for both new and experienced players.
THE HOLIDAYS ARE UPON US!
As the nights grow colder and darker, players will be able to come together to enjoy some festive cheer with the return of the much-loved Winter Nexus holiday event!

The Volatile Ice Storms will once again travel through a freshly-invigorated New Eden, providing pilots with Wightstorm combat sites, hacking sites, and ice mining sites. Gather your Ice Storm Filaments and overcome these challenges to unlock new festive ship SKINs, rare faction modules, and more!

The mysterious Yoiul Clones will also make their return, stronger than ever, and even more brilliantly brought to life with additional animations. There’ll also be bonus daily login rewards, daily challenges, and the snowball-flinging fun of the Chilling Spree!

During the holiday season, you can also look forward to a personalized video charting your year in EVE, as well as several upcoming special offers.

These will include the returning Singles Day 2-for-1 sale on 11 November, during which you can get twice the impact of Alpha Injectors and Skill Extractors, a special Black Friday sale on 26 November with daily gifts from 26-30 November, and further discounts during Cyber Monday on 29 November.

You’ll find more details about this year’s festivities in upcoming news.
EVE UNIVERSE - YOUR GUIDE TO EVE LORE
A new storytelling hub, EVE Universe, launches on 11 November! Replacing the current fiction portal, EVE Universe will offer an extensive repository of the stories and lore behind the game. As for the stories themselves, you can expect richer narratives and plenty of intrigue as New Eden continues to flourish in the future. Who knows what tales await?

Beyond EVE Universe, you can also look forward to a new EVE lore-inspired series, coming in December in partnership with some old friends.

The launch of New Dawn represents an exciting new chapter in the illustrious journey of all Capsuleers in EVE, and the future of New Eden has never looked brighter. We can’t wait to share our plans for growing EVE with you, as the game approaches its third decade!
Fleet Up! - EVE Vegas Roundup
As players returned home from EVE Vegas (22 October to 24 October), the largest event of 2021, there was no shortage of wonderful stories and great pictures from the meetup. CCP Nocturne, CCP Aurora, and CCP Icecream were on site for all the action. Although there was some Jump Fatigue from travel, seeing so many players gathered in one venue recharged our batteries. Group dinners, a private screening of Dune, tons of swag, and of course amazing conversation.

A huge shout-out to members of Ascendance, who handed out physical ship models of the capital ships that their members lost in battle. What a marvelous touch! EVE players never disappoint in their creativity and ingenuity when it comes to player meets. We can’t wait to see what fun future events hold in store for the wonderful EVE Community!
Fanfest Returns!
It’s not just player meetups that are returning; gates are green for Fanfest 2022! The EVE meet that started it all is returning to Iceland 6-7 May, 2022, and we couldn't be more ecstatic. Fanfest is a cherished time here at CCP where we can meet players face to face, chat, and share our love for EVE Online. There are so many fun events and topics planned; we're more excited than a Minmatar in a Rifter!

Presentations, charity dinner, the finals of the World Tour tournament, developer & player talks, the CCP Games Games - and so much more. We're counting down the days!

Alliance Tournament XVII Starts Tomorrow!

Gladiatorial Capsuleers,

The first weekend of Alliance Tournament XVII begins tomorrow, on 6 November!
Prepare yourselves for an intense and exciting competition, with a staggering 40 teams in total rearing and ready to rumble in this year’s Alliance Tournament!

Teams will be fiercely competing for glory and spectacularly flat prize ships designed by Mordus Legion, the sponsor of this year’s Tournament – and every minute of valiant teamwork and bombastic carnage alike will be on full display for all to enjoy, broadcast on Twitch live from Reykjavik in our brand-new studio, produced in collaboration with our beloved EVE_NT partners!

During each day of the tournament, giveaways will be running regularly onstream, giving viewers the opportunity to win hundreds of SKINs – including the gorgeous and highly anticipated GalNet Streamcast series, as well as a number of physical prizes including EVE watches, USB hub Rifters, vouchers for EVE merch, and a selection of ship models from Mixed Dimensions!

Localized streams from our partners on Twitch will also be available:
Russian Chinese Japanese

Check out the ATXVII Announcement Blog, Rules to get an overview on what to expect in the Tournament, view the Brackets hosted on Challonge to see the full lineup and track the progress of all 40 teams, steal a peek at this year’s spectacular Prize Ships – the Raiju EAF and the Laelaps HIC, for a sneak preview of the fabulous rewards the Tournament’s winners will receive!

In addition to the prizes Alliance Tournament competitors can win, those participants who score a final blow on an enemy ship will get an additional prize.

Each death that occurs during the tournament will be minted into an NFT (non-fungible token) of the killmail to be memorialized on the Tezos blockchain. The killer will be the listed owner of this NFT and what they want to do with the NFT is entirely up to them; sell and trade these limited edition images, or hoard them as trophies as they see fit.

We are keenly aware of the environmental impact of cryptocurrencies, and for this reason, we opted to partner with Tezos for this project. Tezos’s Proof of Stake, the mechanism by which blockchain transactions are validated, is an extremely energy-efficient approach that uses two million times less energy than similar Proof of Work networks.

In regards to the power consumption of the AT NFTs, with an estimated power draw of only 200mWh per token and a maximum of 4000 NFTs being minted, the total consumption of the entire production process will equal less than it takes to run a mid-tier gaming PC for 3 hours – less than a single viewer watching only a tenth of the Alliance Tournament would be using.

And as an exciting extra bonus, in celebration of the return of the Alliance Tournament, the IGC will be relaunching the IGC SKIN series on the NES on 6 November, and releasing IGC SKINs for Mordus Legion’s Garmur, Orthrus, and Barghest on 9 November!
