PLEX for GOOD: Türkiye & Syria

Charitable capsuleers.

Early this week in the dead of night, two massive earthquakes struck in the southern part of Türkiye, devastating nearby cities and those in neighboring Syria as far as 300 miles from the earthquake epicenters.

More than 300,000 people have been forced to leave their homes and over 21,000 people have lost their lives with this number sadly increasing over time. The world has mobilized relief efforts with doctors, nurses, search & rescue, engineers, emergency shelter staff, and many other lifesaving specialists. This includes the Icelandic elite search and rescue team who have described the freezing and extremely difficult conditions in which the collective rescue effort operates in their attempts to unearth the people who have been buried underneath the rubble.

Also affected are the millions of refugees residing on both sides of the border whom have been displaced from their own country living in flimsy shelters, tents, and partially destroyed buildings as well as the communities that have been generously hosting them for many years.

Lastly, we have capsuleers that are directly affected by this disaster. We have seen and now act on your calls for a PLEX for GOOD campaign.
What is PLEX for GOOD?
PLEX for GOOD is a charitable giving project operated by CCP Games which allows players to convert their in-game currency into real world money which is then donated to charities and NGOs on their behalf. Since 2005, EVE Online players have raised over $1.2 million for humanitarian relief across a range of crises:
 • 2005 - $25,326 – Southeast Asia (tsunami)
 • 2010 - $34,350 – Haiti (earthquake)
 • 2010 - $38,900 – Pakistan (monsoon)
 • 2011 - $44,600 – Japan (earthquake and tsunami)
 • 2011 - $32,900 – United States (Hurricane Irene)
 • 2013 - $190,890 – Philippines (Typhoon Haiyan)
 • 2015 - $103,650 – Nepal (earthquake)
 • 2020 - $107,454 - Australia (bushfires)
 • 2020 - $135,550 - Global (COVID-19)
 • 2022 - $501,652 – War in Ukraine
How long will this campaign run?
The campaign will be active as of now and will run until 23:59 UTC on 21 February 2023.
How can I contribute?
Making a donation is very simple. It’s just a matter of contracting PLEX to the in-game character CCP PLEX for GOOD which is an account operated by CCP Games. Before you can contract PLEX, you must first move the PLEX from your PLEX vault and place it into your Item Hangar by dragging it from the PLEX vault and dropping it into your Item Hangar.

After that it's just a matter of contracting the PLEX in your Item Hanger to the CCP PLEX for GOOD character. Your contracts will be accepted daily and added to the pool of PLEX donations.

At the conclusion of the campaign, the PLEX collected will be converted back into real life currency by CCP Games and then delivered to our charity partner on behalf of the capsuleers of New Eden.

We are requesting that players respect a minimum donation of 200 PLEX. This will help us process donations efficiently while also allowing those with only a small amount of PLEX to participate.

If you don’t have any PLEX or ISK with which to obtain it from the market but would still like to give, we would encourage you to make a direct donation to one of the following organizations who are helping with the rescue and relief efforts.

Doctors Without Borders

Ahbap

IMPORTANT: CCP regards any scamming attempts surrounding PLEX for GOOD to be morally reprehensible, and any attempts at scamming relating to this program will be met with the harshest and swiftest action at our disposal. If you become aware anyone of attempting a scam related to PLEX for GOOD, please notify us at [email protected].
Where will my donation go?
As it is still early and the situation is dynamic, CCP is actively working on determining the most suitable organizations to partner with so that the assistance through this campaign goes to those that are actively involved in relief operations. We would like the EVE Online community to help us with suggestions to add to this list in the coming days.

Doctors Without Borders

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) cares for people affected by conflict, disease outbreaks, natural and human-made disasters, and exclusion from healthcare in more than 70 countries.

The MSF teams in northwestern Syria began treating patients within the first hours of the first earthquake. They are actively treating injured patients, delivering emergency trauma and surgery kits as well as blankets, hygiene kits, and food items to families.

In addition to the emergency response, they continue to provide regular medical assistance in hospitals in the affected areas to ensure continuity of care for the most vulnerable during this crisis.

AHBAP

Ahbap is a Turkish local non-profit NGO(non-governmental organization), and they are leading the support efforts in Türkiye.
Conclusion
The duration of this PLEX for GOOD campaign will be shorter than our previous campaigns as it is paramount that aid arrives as soon as possible. Spread the word to your spacefriends, as no matter how small, every donation matters.

If during the course of this campaign, EVE players wish to conduct their own PLEX-raising initiatives in their corps, alliances, or other communities, then please reach out to us at [email protected] and we will help raise awareness of your efforts!

February Update - Photon UI Full Rollout

Attention, capsuleers!

EVE Online continues to evolve and invest in the day-to-day experience of its players and its technological foundations to stay on course for a successful third decade in New Eden. This now includes the full rollout of the sparkling new Photon UI, as well as improvements to the multiple overview feature, Tranquility server hardware upgrades, and more!

Also evolving are the fortunes of New Eden’s great empires and EVE Online’s events, moving more purposefully towards a narrative-driven schedule instead of the previously established annual calendar of in-game events. This will be informed by the roadmap for upcoming happenings in EVE, first introduced in the Producer’s Letter.
EVOLVE AND PROSPER
EVE’s user interface has evolved in collaboration with the EVE community, and the anticipated full rollout of Photon UI is here. With an overwhelming 94% adoption among players of the awesome Photon UI which offers a better experience for EVE players, the time was right to make it the default and only UI available.

A single, unified design style streamlines usability, improves learning, and reduces cognitive overload. Removing the old UI will enable faster feature iteration than ever before, and more frequent, easier implementation of updates. There will also be opportunities for new and cool features such as micro widgets to be implemented that would have been impossible with the old code.

Today’s update also allows you to toggle the default state of all compactable windows with a single checkbox, making it much easier to turn on Compact Mode in Photon UI by default for all windows that have that functionality.

In addition, the multiple overview feature has come out of beta and is now standard, with the maximum number of overview tabs increased! There is also now grouping available for overview presets, with added descriptions for the default filters to give players a better idea about each one’s purpose.

Features such as Compact Mode for Photon UI and multiple overviews allow for greater customizability, giving you the ability to tailor it to your specific playstyle. The improvements aren’t done, either, as the interface will continue to evolve and improve, so thanks to all capsuleers for their support and feedback thus far!

Further changes in Photon UI include your wallet balance now being added to the market window, updates to the docking/undocking animated notification, tweaks to item selection highlighting, and more! You can read the patch notes for more details.

Also, as part of the EVE Evolved initiative, the Tranquility live server has undergone some hardware upgrades, adding to the ongoing evolution and investment in EVE’s technical foundations. Stay tuned for a dev blog containing more details in the near future.
AN EVENTFUL FUTURE
EVE’s established calendar of events is also in the process of evolution, sparked by last year’s Uprising expansion as a major step towards regular narrative-driven content updates. As forces gather, tensions mount, and events unfold within New Eden between the four great empires, the exciting roadmap for EVE has a series of thrilling in-game events lined up to get stuck into. Having already gotten off to a strong start in 2023, you can also look forward to more new features, expansions, and huge celebrations throughout the year – including what promises to be an amazing 20th anniversary for EVE Online!

Keep your eyes to the stars as very soon a new narrative arc-related factional campaign will go live in-game pitting the Amarr, Minmatar, Caldari, and Gallente against each other in a tech race that will have seismic implications on the landscape of New Eden. This will set the tone for a year in EVE where some of the events you have come to expect at certain times of year will be replaced by arc-focused events. But don’t worry, instead of attending the Guardian’s Gala, the Angel Cartel have had more pressing matters to attend to. Their shift in focus will play out soon enough!
SINGULARITY OF VISION
In preparation for the upcoming events, and as indicated in the roadmap, you will soon be able to check out the new Direct Enlistment feature on the Singularity test server. This will allow capsuleers to participate in Factional Warfare on behalf of any empire they choose without having to leave their current corporation or alliance to join a militia.

This feature will be rolled out on Tranquility later this quarter, so go ahead and test it out!

EVE Online's far-future boardroom sharks are using their powers for good with an in-game charity drive

For so many of us, I reckon EVE Online remains a distant curiosity: "oh it's the space spreadsheet game where cold-blooded operators are always Enron-ing each other." And you know what? God bless the corporate samurai of EVE Online, it'll never not rule when they pull off another Heist of the Century amidst a supernova or alien invasion...

Introducing Factional Warfare Leaderboards

The recent Uprising expansion introduced a massive overhaul to Factional Warfare, including the new Frontlines system. With the war heating up, progress for the various factions can now be monitored through the Frontlines – New Eden War Report page which displays kills, warzone control, and more.

Everyone knows that the best part of EVE is winning- and for those who like to keep track of how they’re doing, Factional Warfare leaderboards are being introduced to the Frontlines page which will display a list of the top contributors to the war effort overall and for each faction. If you’re logged in, it will also show you how you compare!

The leaderboards will be split up by kills and Victory Points, to give players who aren’t as interested in direct PvP the opportunity to have their contributions recognized as well.

Check out the leaderboards to see who’s topping the charts this week, and join the war to get your face on there too!

Special Guests & Events at Fanfest 2023

Calling all capsuleers,

This year’s Fanfest is poised to be an unforgettable celebration of the game and its players, making it a must-attend for anyone passionate about EVE Online. Space can be a solitary place, with its vast distances and empty voids. This makes companionship all the more precious and important, and it’s no secret that the EVE community is the heart and soul of New Eden. Which is why it’s always a special time when players get together in Iceland for Fanfest, and this year’s celebration is extra special, as we celebrate 20 years of EVE.
