EVE Fanfest 2022 is fast approaching, along with your final opportunity to buy discounted Special Early Bird tickets to the event. While love is in the air this weekend, it’s the perfect opportunity to treat someone you care about to an unforgettable weekend in Iceland!

EVE Fanfest sees players from around the world coming together to celebrate life in New Eden. This year, the event makes its triumphant return to the Laugardalshöll arena from 6 to 7 May 2022! You’ll be able to enjoy developer presentations, roundtables & intense tournaments, and toast your achievements with your fellow pilots.

On that note, the much-loved pub crawl and Party at the Top of the World events will also be in full swing across the weekend. There’ll also be plenty of other unofficial events taking place between 5-8 May (not included in the ticket price), with more details of these to follow as we approach Fanfest.

Fanfest isn’t just for pilots either. While you attend to vital spaceship business on the first day of the celebrations, your loved one can enjoy an unforgettable journey around Iceland’s southern coast with a Sisters of EVE tour ticket.

While on tour, they’ll enjoy some of Iceland’s most stunning scenic beauty, including the beautiful bird cliffs of Vik, and the Reynisfjara black sand beach. The Sisters of EVE Tour ticket also includes entry to Saturday’s legendary Party At The Top Of The World.

Special Early Bird tickets are only available to buy for a little while longer, so make sure you secure your discounted tickets today. For more information about what to expect, check out the EVE Fanfest page.

Community Beat for 4 February

Welcome to back, Capsuleers, to the Community Beat! In our last Beat we heard from Director of Product CCP Ratatti on the Declarations of War Podcast, learned all about the exciting EVE Pandora project, saw some very impressive arts & crafts, and gave you a great excuse to expand your EVE Discord servers!

There’s a lot to look forward to and so much happening in the game – so let’s get to it! Sit back, grab some Quafe and have fun!
Not Purple? Shoot It!

NPSI fleets earn their namesake from the default overview color for fleet-mates in EVE: purple. The concept is simple: public fleets, open to everyone, where everyone not in the fleet is a target. You may find yourself flying around strangers, allies, or even enemies – but in these fleets everyone is on the same side.

They are a great way to explore new areas of the game, meet new people, hone your skills, or just have some fun blowing things up. New Eden has a rich history of groups supporting this playstyle, and in recent times communities such as these have really taken off. The best resource we’ve found is the NPSI Community Calendar maintained by Fun Inc. With several fleets going out every day, the next fleet is just around the corner. What’s stopping you?

What do you really know about the Angel Cartel? Most Capsuleers dismiss them as a small pirate outfit whose only duties are to pester the Republic across Minmatar space. It’s true that the Angel Cartel all but run the Minmatar underworld, but their reach extends into many of the major factions as well. The Secure Commerce Commission uncovered evidence of significant financial backings of prominent Caldari corporations tied to the Angel Cartel, corrupting the heart of Caldari industry. The Amarr Empire identified the Cartel as major players in the illicit slave trade. The Gallente Federation are hapless to control the flow of narcotics on the black market - all supplied by the Angel Cartel. They even have an entire offshoot, the Guardian Angels, tasked with supporting the operations of their close allies: the Serpentis Corporation.

If you’d like to learn more about the Cartel, their structure, history, and where their sneaky tendrils reach – head on over to the EVE Universe. Maybe some of this information will prove fruitful in the coming weeks…

A lot of us have taken up additional hobbies over the last few years, and bread making tops the charts. Last month on Twitter, Frozen Sky on-upped us all with their amazing Minmatar Loaf! It even has a bit of a rusty crust going on. Glorious!

Proving Grounds Combat - Whovian Style!

Collaborative Capsuleers,

Bringing the EVE Online x Doctor Who crossover to a dramatic end, the coming Abyssal Proving Grounds event focusses on 2v2 combat with some Whovian flair. It’s time to find an ally and ready yourself for clashes that promise to test both your dogfighting ability and the precision of your piloting skills.

Why will you need a steadier hand than ever to emerge victorious? Because throughout this special cruiser-focussed Abyssal Proving Grounds clash, the arena will be packed with high numbers of nexuses from The Interstellar Convergence event, with Convergent Accelerant and Decelerant objects littering the arena. Get too near one of those objects and they will explode, applying buffs or debuffs respectively. It’s a set-up that will ensure dramatic and tantalizing battles!

The permitted hulls for this event are the Omen, Caracal, Thorax, Stabber, Maller, Moa, Vexor, Rupture, Arbitrator, Blackbird, Celestis, and Bellicose.

There are some conditions of entry, of course, just to be sure that the combat is both balanced, and as action-packed as one of the Doctors’ own adventures..

The following arena effects will be in place throughout the event:
- Only pilots equipped with modules or implants with a meta level of 0 - meaning basic Tech 1 modules - will be allowed to enter
- Sensor dampeners, shield rechargers, shield power relays, shield flux coils, and core defence field purgers are banned
- Ships entering this round of Abyssal Proving Grounds combat must have a maximum of one local repair module fitted, either as shield or armor

Want to join in? Find a friend or Whovian companion, get your cruisers battle-ready, grab your Proving Filaments and head to the Proving Grounds between 11:00 UTC 28 January to 11:00 UTC 1 February. And as ever, the Proving Grounds leaderboards will allow you to keep up with Capsuleer performance... and how you and your ally fare compared to the rest of the pack.
