EVE Fanfest Returns in 2022

Resilient Capsuleers,

The time has come to finally reunite with your fellow Capsuleers from around the world – in person – as EVE Fanfest returns to Iceland in 2022! As the opportunity to meet up with your space friends and celebrate together becomes a reality once more, this unique event is not to be missed after such a long time apart.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

From 6-7 May 2022, you’ll be able to enjoy presentations about EVE (both from developers and other EVE experts - including Scott Manley!), roundtables, charity dinner, a silent auction, and a player tournament. Of course, no Fanfest would be complete without the legendary pub crawl, as well as the Party at the Top of the World. There’ll also be plenty of other unofficial events to enjoy (not included in the ticket price) between 5-8 May. More details of these will be released soon.

Fanfest will be returning to its roots for the 2022 event. Laugardalshöll arena is the chosen venue this time, the scene of many a beloved Fanfest in the past - and home to Riot’s Worlds! This one-time-only return to Laugardalshöll will be your chance to witness how the EVE community and development teams embrace one another, bringing legendary levels of fun and camaraderie to the gathering.

Tickets are available now, but act fast as the best-priced Early Bird tickets always sell out quickly. Since Fanfest is returning after quite some time, there’ll be a limited supply of tickets for the event overall. Secure your tickets today to make sure you do not miss out on an unforgettable experience! For more information, check out the EVE Fanfest page

Iceland is safe to travel to and remains an incredible destination, thanks to an embarrassment of riches when it comes to natural wonders - including a newly-erupted volcano! There’s never been a better time to visit, so why not combine the return of Fanfest in 2022 with an amazing holiday to one of the world’s most unique locations?

The world is ever-changing when it comes to COVID-19 and the precautions it requires. Come May 2022, we will err on the side of caution, and work closely with local health authorities to ensure that EVE players have a great - and safe - experience. Following Iceland’s Directorate of Health Travel Guidance, everyone coming to Fanfest will be required to show proof of vaccination. Depending on the recommendation of health officials nearer the time, we may require attendees to be tested before entering the arena. This is all done to ensure that we can enjoy each other’s company without worry.

The gate is green. We cannot wait to meet you all in person here in Iceland, trade stories, party together as we celebrate EVE’s 19th birthday, and so much more.

Fabulous Capsuleers,

We’re happy to announce the launch of print-on-demand merchandise for EVE, bringing you all better access to all sorts of fantastic gear as we pave the road toward a much broader variety of available designs and goods!

Kicking things off, we’ll be offering T-shirts of various fits, zip-up hoodies, and water bottles, ready to be emblazoned with a variety of empire and pirate faction designs, as well as certain ship collections and other classic designs.

In addition, we are releasing a line of Blood Raider designs inspired by their yearly cluster-wide festival, the Crimson Harvest!

We’ll also be opening a special EU-centric print-on-demand store section on the merch site, providing the same awesome apparel at significantly better shipping rates.

The main store will still be available worldwide, as it is not region-restricted.

This is only the beginning – look forward to an expansion of offerings and designs as we enter a new and more accessible era of EVE Online style!

Alliance Tournament XVII Prizes

Alliance Tournament XVII is fast approaching! The teams have been practicing hard to prepare for the annual bloodbath in the arena that will take place on the first two weekends of November, but before gazing at the explosions, it’s time to look at the epic prizes that are up for grabs this year – both for the competitors, and for those cheering on their teams.

As teased in the original announcement, new tournament prize ships are being created for this year’s event. While these ships are still in development, you can feed your excitement with a sneak peek!
Raiju
"'Two generals choosing to meet in battle will each believe victory is in their grasp despite one general being wrong in the greater number of cases. This shows the importance of good information to the general in the field. If information is lacking, false, or otherwise imperfect, disaster is sure for the general acting precipitously.'

So it goes somewhere in the Analects. In other words, make sure of your own info before committing, and if you can stop the other guy from knowing what the hell is going on, so much the better. It's basic but you'd be surprised how often people will jump into a fight without thinking it through."

– Muryia Mordu, quoting the Analects of the Raata Empire

The Raiju is Mordu’s Legion’s premiere electronic attack frigate. Based on the Garmur hull, this ship boasts Mordu’s signature speed and terrifying missile output. It is also complemented by an extreme warp disruption range bonus as well as bonuses to sensor dampener strength which will allow it to hold down an enemy from range, pour on the missile damage, and prevent it from even thinking about shooting back. If you are unlucky enough to encounter one of these ships, bring friends.
Laelaps
"'The pinning force is an essential element of the war of maneuver but must be carefully assembled from quick yet resilient troops. Scouts cannot pin an army but companies of mounted infantry may achieve the task. Above all, measure the enemy strength before attempting to fix them in place.'

Good old Doule dos Rouvenor. Don't get fixated, no pun intended, on the details of his kind of warfare. I've seen scouts pin down battleships, but that's not the point. Use the right force mix, and have them use the right tools to pin down an enemy force of such and such strength. That's the lesson here. But yeah, don't try and scramble a Nyx with a Garmur. That'll end badly."

– Muryia Mordu, quoting the War Commentaries of dos Rouvenor

If being locked down by the Raiju sounds terrifying, the Laelaps takes it to a whole new level. This ship is a heavy interdictor variant of the Orthrus, combining the Orthrus’ mobility and missile output with heavier tank and a huge bonus to warp disruption field generator range so that nothing can leave its grasp. Unlike many other heavy interdictors which are slow to maneuver, the Laelaps has a bonus to speed which allows it to stay mobile even while its warp disruption field generator is active, making it the fastest heavy interdictor in New Eden.
Prize Format
This year, the distribution of prizes is being altered slightly. Previously, prize ships were reserved for the top 4 teams, but that is now being extended to the top 16. This allows those middle-tier teams to get a small taste of the ships and ensures that each match has value – although the largest rewards are of course still reserved for those teams who make it to the top. Prizes will be allocated to teams based on where they exit the bracket after their second loss.

Top 16 (4 teams, knocked out in losers round 4): 2 Raiju, 2 Laelaps
Top 12 (4 teams, knocked out in losers round 5): 4 Raiju, 4 Laelaps
Top 8 (2 teams, knocked out in losers round 6): 6 Raiju, 6 Laelaps
Top 6 (2 teams, knocked out in losers round 7): 8 Raiju, 8 Laelaps
4th (loser of match 75): 12 Raiju, 12 Laelaps
3rd (loser of match 77): 16 Raiju, 16 Laelaps
2nd (loser of winner’s bracket): 20 Raiju, 20 Laelaps
1st (winner of finals): 40 Raiju, 40 Laelaps
(Total of 140 of each ship)

Teams will only get the highest bracket of prizes they have earned. For example, a team which leaves the bracket in losers round 6 will get the top 8 prize (6 Raiju, 6 Laelaps), but will not also receive the top 12 and top 16 prizes.
Twitch Match Predictions
Watching your excitement during the live broadcast of the Alliance Tournament XVII feeder tournament back in September when predicting the outcome of matches was something truly spectacular!

The upcoming main event will also leverage Twitch’s predictions functionality to let the viewers vote on who they believe will crush their opponents in a given match. Each day, there will be hundreds of SKINs up for grabs, including the gorgeous GalNet SKINs that you had your eyes on for a while, as well as a limited number of physical prizes such as Mixed Dimension ship models, EVE watches, USB Hub Rifters, and vouchers for EVE Online Merchandise! These will be activated at different intervals throughout the day, so be sure to clear your schedule if you want a chance of claiming one of them for yourself.
Alliance Tournament Links
Together with EVE_NT crew, we cannot wait to bring you over 80 matches this November and witness another chapter in EVE Online’s competitive history.

You can find all the key information below, including the match schedule, brackets, and more.

Halloween Horrors Haunt New Eden!

Bloodcurdling Capsuleers,

Beware – Halloween is nearly upon us, and New Eden has been plunged into its spookiest season yet! A new Crimson Harvest event, daily login rewards, a special Proving Ground event, increased PVP loot drops, and special offers are all imminent, so get ready for a fully packed season of frights!

CRIMSON HARVEST

EVE’s premiere Blood Raider seasonal event has begun once again, starting today and running until 9 November! This year, Capsuleers will be met in battle by the forces of the Order of St. Tetrimon, an Amarr religious order dedicated to the preservation of the scriptures of the faith. Join the Order in their campaign to drown this sanguine spectacle in laserfire, or for the first time ever take the side of the Blood Raiders, venerating the Harvest and painting New Eden in crimson!

Combat and hacking sites for both sides of the conflict are appearing in Highsec, Lowsec, Nullsec, and Wormhole systems, with the advanced sites spawning in Lowsec systems within the Derelik region, as well as within Blood Raider-controlled systems in Delve. Additionally, communications intercepts have revealed whispers of deeper, more vital sites being established across the cluster, which may only be tracked down through escalations of the advanced combat sites.

Choose which side to support in the Agency section for the event, with unique sets of challenges and rewards for either path. Additionally, you can look forward to special daily login rewards packed with Skill Points, special Boosters, and new SKINs!

TRICK OR TREAT

During the event, PVP kills can be expected to drop loot at an increased rate, averaging at 90%! Carve out your harvest from the wrecks of your targets, which will be marked with a special pumpkin icon , but beware in your prowl for treats – you may very well become someone else’s!

FRIGHTENING OMEGA SAVINGS

Rise from the dead at your full potential, with a discount on every Omega subscription! The one, three, six, and twelve-month options are all available now at 15% off, but only until 3 November – so save big on immortality while you can!

MONSTERS FROM THE MURK

The Malagrin Marshlight SKIN series will be returning to the NES for the Harvest, with added availability on 8 additional hulls! Headhunter SKINs will also be returning, giving pilots a fantastic selection of terrifying visages to display as you trick-or-treat across the cluster. Check out the SKINs on offer, and prepare for a season of frights!

BONUS CANDY

Keep an eye out for some extra treats: each 240, 500, 2860, and 7430 PLEX package purchased during the event will come with its own free Deathglow Hunters SKIN!

A BLOOD-RED PROVING

A new 4-player free-for-all Destroyer Proving Ground will be running Halloween weekend, from 29 October to 2 November, in celebration of the Crimson Harvest, with an arena effect providing an increase to Stasis Webifier range, Nosferatu and Energy Neutralizer strength, and Laser turret damage! Only the Coercer, Dragoon, Cormorant, Corax, Catalyst, Algos, Thrasher, and Talwar-class Destroyers may enter, with modules limited to meta level 5 and pirate implants restricted. Demonstrate your fervor and quench your thirst for blood in this special event!

The Harvest is upon us, so fly safe, and see you in space!

Eve's new tutorial takes players through the basics with an action-packed story

Eve Online is one of the longest-running MMORPGs out there, and that's despite a reputation for being a game of 'spreadsheets in space.' Developer CCP Games has laboured for years to smooth out its notoriously steep learning curve, and a revamped new player experience, which rolled out just before its arrival on the Epic Games Store in September, might be just the thing to keep players around long enough to get hooked.

When you create a new character - or capsuleer - in Eve Online, you have the option to complete the tutorial, which now includes a much more dramatic narrative sequence that helps set up the universe of New Eden and introduces elements of Eve's daunting UI piece by piece.

"One of the key principles we had was 'never overwhelm,'" Tryggvi Hjaltason, a senior strategist at CCP, tells us. "We were trying to figure out what's the main reason players turn from our game early. And the number one reason by far - it's like 68% or something - is that they're overwhelmed."
