Nevergrind Online Goes Global

As previously promised, Nevergrind Online (NGO) was planning its global colonization of the gaming world. This campaign started by unveiling support for Chinese. And then German support was enabled. And, finally, Japanese is the latest language supported by the NGO client. Localization has been a core tenet of our strategy to establish NGO as a premier game for a global audience of gamers united by their love for slaying dragons.

Even in the early stages localization, this plan has proven fruitful! Within the last 24 hours, NGO has sold more copies in Japan than it has in the United States! A few weeks ago, Japan was not even on the radar as far as sales were concerned. Sales in China and Germany have seen a healthy bump as well. Thus I feel that it is worthwhile to continue expanding on NGO's support of various popular languages. I would prefer to have solid language support upon full release. Players have not reported any issues playing anywhere on earth from Japan, Australia, Canada, and Brazil! The gameplay is not particularly ping sensitive, which makes NGO a particularly suitable game for a group of friends that want to enjoy a cooperative dungeon crawl from locations across the earth.

I am happy to report that French and Russian are currently in progress. I am also looking for volunteers for Polish, Korean, Portuguese, and several other languages. If you think you can help, let us know on discord and we can collaborate! Translation is challenging work and constant iteration is key to having a solid translation in place.

It has now been a month since NGO's early access release. There has been a ton of progress! Localization, bug fixes, gameplay tuning, and quality-of-life changes have been at the top of the list. Once we are satisfied with the state of the game, I will set my sight on implementing the much awaited talent trees that everyone is clamoring for. Those will be completed first. After talents I can start thinking about nightmare and hell difficulty, the new level 99 cap, and exceptional/elite item tiers!

• Adjusted party timeout logic to be more permissive with long network disruptions.
• Improved party promotion logic. There were some cases where a follower would have a gold (leader) name.
• Party members may indicate that they are linkdead, but they may be able to recover from this state if their connection recovers.
• Probable fix on a mysterious single-player only bug that caused you to lose your level in some specific circumstances.
• Removed threat from Synthesize (DRU).
• Removed threat from Litany of Life (BRD).
• Changed dragonkin's death sound effect.
• Adjusted the head coordinate for several mobs including crocodiles, lizardmen, and dragonkin.
• Reduced the threat on all Druid and Shaman heals. This makes Druid and Shaman better at low-threat healing, but without the same utility and burst as Clerics.
• The title screen now indicates your current, total, and max characters.
• Another round of improvements for Japanese localization.
• Improved the localization of all potions and call-to-actions which were overlooked.
• Expanded the credits to include the localization contributors.
