Steam Cloud Saves, Controller Support, New Bookmarking System and more...

As promised in our previous announcement, Fighting Fantasy Classics has now been updated with a host of new features! These include:

 • Steam Cloud Saves for both PC and Mac players
 • New Bookmarking and Saving system
 • Support for up to three adventurer profiles per gamebook
 • Controller Support
 • Comprehensive Steam Deck support
 • Some UI and Layout improvements

Hot on the heels of this update will be the release of Starship Traveller in a few weeks, along with the announcement of the next Fighting Fantasy gamebook joining the library. Keep an Eye out for that!

A big-ish update coming soon!

Hello adventurers! We have an update that we'll be pushing up in the next week or so that brings some QoL improvements to Fighting Fantasy Classics, particularly if you're playing your gamebooks on a Steam Deck.
1) New Save System
Support has been added for three adventure profiles per FF gamebook. This means you can have multiple run-throughs with three different characters, each with 100 page saves (bookmarks) that also include the time and date of the save. We'll also be giving you the ability to delete your bookmarks too, a regularly requested feature! You'll also be able to delete an adventure profile, if you feel you've wandered too far down one of Ian or Steve's notorious story dead-ends.
2) Controller Support
We're making full use of modern controllers, with a mind to making the game more playable on your handheld device of choice, or using controllers on your computer. For Steam Deck users this means using buttons to select buttons, roll dice and turn pages, rather than using the mousepad, which can sometimes feel a little cumbersome in FFC. Keyboard support is also included that should hopefully help us when requesting our big green Steam Deck tick!
3) Updates to page layouts
And finally, we've made some minor tweaks to the the page layouts, which should now make better use of the original gamebook page dividers - a HUGE part of an FF gamebook's aesthetic. An embossed FF logo will also replace blank, empty pages on the right, which reinforces the FF brand in screenshots, and helps add a bit more character to the presentation.

If you're an FF fan and you've been on the fence with regards to making your Steam library portable, now may be a good time! ːwarlockorcː

Coming very soon.

Boldly going...

If you love to arrange your Fighting Fantasy gamebooks in the original 80s Puffin release order, you will no doubt be aware of the gap where book number 4 should sit. We're fixing that early next year as we bring Steve Jackson's Starship Traveller to the library!

Unlike our 2015 standalone release, we've re-coded Steve's gamebook from the ground up, bringing it much closer to the original 1983 publication. Simon Lissaman's amazing visuals do make another appearance though, so if you've never seen them before, you're in for a real treat!

The fate of the Starship Traveller and her crew lies in YOUR hands!

Sucked through the nightmare of the Seltsian Void, the starship Traveller emerges at the other side of the black hole into an unknown universe. YOU are the captain of the Traveller and her fate depends on YOU! Will you be able to discover the way back to Earth from the alien peoples and planets you encounter, or will the starship be doomed to roam uncharted space forever?"
"

Keep an eye on the cosmos, sometime in early 2025! We're also working on two other FF releases to follow shortly after, with even more to come next year.

Fighting Fantasy Classics plans to add full Steam Deck support

Fighting Fantasy Classics is a library app from Tin Man Games that collects together all your favourite Fighting Fantasy gamebooks from the 1980s to more recent modern-day releases.

FFC is coming to the Steam Deck!

One of the most popular requests we get is whether we can push out a "proper" build of Fighting Fantasy Classics on the Steam Deck. It's a great platform for handheld gaming, and seeing as the FF books were technically some of the very first on-the-go games for Gen Xers back in the 80s, it's a perfect fit.

We're currently adding in controller support as well as updating FFC's saving system to allow for multiple save slots per book. We're also adding in cloud saving, which is obviously super important for FF fans playing on their computer and Steam Deck. A new build will be pushed out in a couple of weeks and we'll then request deck verification from the Steam gods.

There will also be an announcement in the next few weeks about new FF titles coming to the library! If you follow the TMG channels on X or Discord, you may already have seen a few clues! ːwarlockorcː
