Weekly Dev Update - January 15/20

Hey Vikings,

Onward and into our second week of the year, we are preparing to do some minor (and some drastic) changes to the game.

Here's what we're up to this week:

Happy 2020 everyone! Hope you had a great holiday season, and enjoyed some time spent relaxing (and of course, playing games). We're jumping right back into development, and we're taking some time to evaluate our next objectives.

We had our last Open Beta test in December, but let us know what you think about the idea of a Closed Beta! They could be something we bring into the mix this year, and it gives you another shot to try out Tribes of Midgard before we head to Early Access.

Weekly Dev Update - December 18/19



Hey Vikings,

Update time! With the Open Beta coming to an end, we're now continuing to work on new features before we head off for the holidays. Besides going through all the feedback from the Open Beta, we're focusing on some Construction elements like the Tripwire, and some more customization options for your character. We're also working on making enemy shields breakable!

Here's what we're up to this week:

๐Ÿฒ - Finalizing the attacks and effects for the Giant #3
๐Ÿญ - Working on integrating visuals for the building mode
๐Ÿ˜ƒ - Creating icons for constructions and player portraits
๐Ÿšง - Iterating on the build controls for optimal user experience
๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ - 3D modeling and integrating the Tripwire (end)
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ - Adding durability to enemy shields to make them breakable
๐Ÿ’‡โ€โ™€๏ธ - Designing new haircuts for both males and females
๐Ÿ’Ž - Revising loot tables from enemies for surprising results
๐ŸŽ„ - Stabilizing the version before going on holidays!

Once again, the gates are closed, and our Last Open Beta has come to an end.ย Thank you so much for playing, we're very grateful to have such an amazing community of players!

We hit over 3,500 members in our Discord!ย Our tribe is growing, and so many creative ideas were shared there over the Open Beta.



We had over 150 playersย complete the Open Beta Challenges! Congrats to all! You will receive the Beta cosmetics upon release (Unsunken Javelin Haircut and Goblin player portrait). We even saw some of you survive untilย Day 111, and complete ALL of the 9 Beta Challenges! Many of you also survived the longest night, and defeated the Helthing Boss.





As you saw, we were even on the Twitch home page, on two different days, (so exciting) we thank you so much for bringing us there! To be alongside the games below means the world to us.

  • Heroic Difficulty Yggdrasil Decay per Second decreased by 35%
  • Whirlwind Range decreased by 15%
  • Attract Range of Lindworm Sword decreased by 25%
  • Shield Bash Range decreased by 20%
  • Armor Durability increased by 35%
  • Weapon Durability increased by 55%
  • Shield Durability decreased by 50%
  • Amount of Shrines increased by 25%
  • Forest Biome Weight decreased by 4
  • Wave Slash Angle decreased by 45
  • Elemental Armors have positive armor values as weaknesses
  • Player Level Progression is exponential instead of linear
  • Loot is more spread out between all Creatures
  • Giant Armor decreased significantly
  • Giant Multiplier scales differently along Difficulty
  • Creatures can damage Giants with their Spells
  • Ymir Eyelash Tree of Life can heal Closed/Opened Gates
  • Some Treasure Chests contain a random Equipment

BUG FIXES


Several issues signaled by the team and especially the community that are currently FIXED.

Main Fixed Issues:
  • Night Shader sometimes not visually displaying when itโ€™s Night
  • Equipped Weapon randomly unequipping while playing with a Controller
  • Menu Navigation not stable with Controller
  • Loot/Treasure Chests landing on top of unreachable Cliffs or Decor
  • Winter Effect unavailable after a game crash and returning to game after
  • Dying on a Ramp preventing Death Treasure Chest from appearing
  • Dropping too many Items crashing the game
  • HP Bars of other Players not synchronising
  • Players exceeding the amount of Player Slots in-game
  • Giant being stuck on their way to Village
  • Gates not appearing after being built

Small Fixed Issues:
  • Player receiving XP after receiving the Game Over Screen
  • Player could have level locked cosmetics already equipped
  • Giant sometimes walking in T-Pose
  • Players being in ragdoll and not being seen by some Players
  • Colliders not fitting the decor or modules in the World
  • Enabling Display Names didnโ€™t show the names of Player Avatars in-game


Issues That Remain:
  • Possible game crash which requires all Players to disconnect and reconnect to the game after
  • Possible minor visual glitches while interacting with the Community Chest
  • Possible menu glitches while interacting with the Fortifications for some Players which requires only a game reconnection from that player
  • Snow not appearing sometimes in game which requires to wait on the next days for it to appear again
  • Player Avatar losing running animations which requires Player to attack again
  • Player Names floating which requires only to wait a few seconds for it to disappear
