Summer Update - Level Editor, new map, and more!

Today is a big day for the Neighbor and the Kids. Before we get to all the details, check out this trailer:

Without further ado, let's get to all the new stuff.

[h2]Level Editor (beta)[/h2]



Level Editor is now officially in the game! It allows you to design your own levels and upload them to the Steam Workshop.

Our community beta-testers have already submitted over 600 levels, but this is just the beginning! With other players all over the world voting for your creations, your levels have a chance to become a staple of the Secret Neighbor community!

We will continue to work on the Level Editor, improving it based on your feedback. Our short-term goal is to make the Editor as accessible and convenient as possible, but we're not stopping there.

Next step - Mod Editor, where content creators will be able to design their own mods: battle royale, hide and seek, interactive multiplayer puzzle, you name it. The only limit would be your imagination.

[h2]New Map[/h2]



The Neighbor is up to no good once again! This is his biggest project yet. The Neighbor can now teleport around the map, so do be careful - he could be waiting around any corner!

It's finally summertime in Raven Brooks! Dress for the weather with the new summer skins!

[h2]Balance Changes[/h2]

Here are the full patch notes:

  • Increased Neighbor's stamina by 100%
  • Leader's blinding radius from the Team Work skill is increased from 6 to 10
  • Leader's charging radius for the Team Work skill is increased from 6 to 10
  • Inventor's rifle cost is reduced from 10 to 8 gears
  • Reduced the number of keys needed to recharge Detective's Intuition skill from 4 to 3
  • Scout's acceleration duration from the Evasive Maneuvers skill is increased from 2 to 3 seconds

Let the Free Weekend & 50% Sale begin!

Hey everyone!

To celebrate our second annual ZEN weekend, we’re bringing a free weekend to Secret Neighbor! The game is available to everyone starting from now and up to the end of Sunday.

Secret Neighbor is best when you play it with your friends, so now is the best time to invite them!

Alongside with the free weekend, we’re bringing you a new patch - it’s mostly quality of life changes, along with some under the hood changes that will accommodate future level editor implementation. Speaking of…

[h2]Level Editor short update[/h2]
A short update on the level editor - we have disassembled the game to make it more modular and enable the functionality of the level editor.

While it works in its disassembled form with individual pieces, gluing all of them back together and enabling Steam Workshop requires a bit more time and testing. Hopefully, we’ll be able to bring the editor to you next week. We’ll keep you updated!

Current version: v.1.1.1.3

Full list of changes:
  • Added 2 radar-activating buttons per map. Map 1 - under the far staircase in the library and on the roof. Map 2 - in the partially fenced-off room and upstairs, in the workshop with the moving staircase. The buttons can be activated by anyone. Silhouettes will be visible to the person who activated the button and to the Neighbor.
  • Added new Neighbor skins, obtainable with coins
  • New sounds (Neighbor’s door, moving platforms, etc.)
  • Emote wheel for Neighbor. There’s only one emote right now, but technically it’s still a wheel! More emotes are coming soon.
  • Updated character icons and avatar backgrounds
  • Now in Quick Game random map is selected by default
  • We’ve decided to keep item collection in the game. Instead of easter eggs, there are now coins.
  • We’ve changed the game’s architecture in order for it to support the level editor. Those changes are running deep, so it’s possible you’ll encounter new/old bugs. Please report them on the #bug-reports channel in our Discord.
  • You can now mute players while loading! Finally!

Hello Neighbor Animated Series Premieres Tomorrow



Hey everyone!

We've been working on something super special and completely new for us - the Hello Neighbor Animated Series!

Here's everything you need to know:

  • We have completed a full 22 minute version of a Pilot Episode
  • Tomorrow we're airing the Test Pilot to everyone on Youtube, it's an action packed, easy to understand proof of concept that we edited together after hundreds of iterations. The goal is to see if you, our fans, like it - and if so, we hope to get a distribution deal with one of the major networks.
  • The 22 minute version will be available as part of our Youtube club alongside an in-depth behind the scenes look of what to expect from the series.
  • The series is written by Carly Anne West, the author of the best-selling Hello Neighbor books
  • Characters of Secret Neighbor are actually based on the character designs in the TV Show as these started development at around the same time. And those designs are based on the books. And the books are based on the original game. And it's all canon.
  • The series is co-created by Nikita Kolesnikov (the original designer of Hello Neighbor), Carly Anne West, and myself (Alex Nichiporchik here, I worked with Nikita on the original Neighbor game).


Plot: A group of friends are trying to unravel the mystery surrounding their missing friends, and they believe the best thing to do is to break into their creepy Neighbor's house to find out where his kids had gone. All while bizarre meteorological events surrounding swarms of crows are shrouding the mysterious town of Raven Brooks.

Premieres Tomorrow, Friday 17 April at 10am PST

Quick Game & Other Fixes

Heya everyone!
Today we're bringing an update which resolves several bugs related to the quick game.

Current game version is 1.1.0.7

Full list of changes:
  • Fixed issues that caused problems with entering a quick game
  • Fixed quick game buttons overlapping
  • Fixed cage's doors which caused players to get stuck in the wall (MAP 2)
  • Fixed the Detective's Hat
