Secret Neighbor Summer Update 2021 - Golden Apple Amusement Park - Live now!

Hey everyone!


The days are long, the nights are warm, and we are excited to announce that the Golden Apple Amusement Park Update is officially live on Steam! This update includes a brand-new map, graphical updates, emotes, trophies and much more! Check out the latest episode of Secret Neighborhood News for a comprehensive overview and first look!

[h2]Map #5 is here![/h2]

Take a trip outside the Neighborhood and explore the (in)famous abandoned Amusement Park in a brand new map! Can you uncover the mysteries of the now-defunct funfair from Mr. Peterson’s past, or will tragedy strike again? Remember, your foe will stop at nothing to keep you and your friends from discovering the truth!

With a largely open-air environment, upon entry you will note that our 5th map it is vastly different from previous maps in both looks and layout. It also will sport a 4th keycard door, so keep a sharp eye out! Aside from layout and location, this map sports a few other new features as well:
  • In a nod to the original Hello Neighbor (as well as a longstanding community request) tomato plants are making their debut on map #5! Snag one in passing and hurl it into the eyes of your attacker to thwart their advance! 🍅
  • Lost your flashlight or need a last minute powerup? New vending machines could give you an edge over your enemy when you need it most. 🧃


[h2]New Skins + Emotes![/h2]



Stop by the Shop to select a fresh fit with a roster of new skins! The circus may have shut its doors, but you’ll still see lions in the big top with The Neighbor’s new skin!

While you’re there, check out the new Emotion section and snag one of three new Neighbor Emotes to inflict a little psychological damage on your foes. - The emote wheel is now also customizable!



[h2]New tutorial and trophy room[/h2]

Brush up on the basics with a brand new Tutorial mode, accessible via the main lobby. Get a hands-on overview of in-game items & how to use them or play through a brief single-player tutorial + character-specific challenges that let you learn a new class on the fly!

Earn and display your achievements in the brand new Trophy room - a new section available via the lobby. Currently, there are three interactable trophies - obtainable via completing easter eggs!



[h2]Overall ambiance update[/h2]

Almost every source of light has been revamped, and you may find flashlights are now more important than ever, lest your foe sneak up on you in the darkness! It’s not just lighting that's gotten an upgrade though, as new partially interactable vegetation and particle systems now lend to the overall ambiance.

The Match End screen has also been updated to more accurately reflect the excitement of winning a match...or the despair of losing one.

Have you built an awesome map in the Level Editor? Want to potentially have it featured in the game? Our Level Editor map contest deadline is August 15th! Check out the rules in the gif below, and submit in our discord server before the deadline, Halloween decorations are not required but are highly encouraged.

Secret Neighbor sneaks onto iOS - And you can play it FREE!

We are so excited to announce that Secret Neighbor is now available on iOS devices worldwide, and you can play it for free!

As this is our first time bringing the game to mobile there are some key differences between this and previous versions, and there are a few different ways to play so let’s jump into it and see which one suits you the best!

[h2]Secret Neighbor iOS is free to download + play![/h2]

Secret Neighbor is free to download and play on iOS! From the start, only Bagger and Scary Neighbor classes are available, while all the other classes are unlockable through gameplay.

[h2]Coupons & Coins[/h2]

Everyone loves to express themselves, and what better way to do it than with a fire fit? Get access to our newest accessories and premium cosmetics with Arcade Coupons!

Arcade Coupons are a recently introduced form of hard currency in Secret Neighbor and have taken the place of cash purchases. You are able to purchase Arcade Coupons in four different quantities and they are used to buy the fanciest costumes! Additionally, Secret Neighbor has daily quests that award you coupons just for playing!

Coins are collected through gameplay - these are then used to unlock additional player and Neighbor classes, as well as to buy costumes. Unlocking all the classes with coins is definitely possible, but it does take some dedication, so make sure you do some research on the class you’re about to unlock - we recommend our TinyTips series on YouTube for that!

[h2]Secret Club Subscription[/h2]

And, of course, there’s the all new, mobile only Secret Club subscription. Joining the Secret Club instantly unlocks all the classes for you, gives you an additional daily quest, and grants you a 4X daily coupon multiplier boost! There will also be additional perks rolled out to Secret Club members later on in the club’s lifetime as well.

Time for math:

$3 - monthly subscription cost
$2 - monthly subscription cost if you purchase a 6 months subscription for $12

240 - maximum amount of coupons earned in a month (without the subscription)
1200 - maximum amount of coupons earned in a month (with the subscription). Or, if you were to purchase coupons directly, that’s $8 worth of coupons!


And that’s all on top of access to all the classes in the game!

Level Editor Update & New Costumes & The 2021 Roadmap!

Hey everyone!

Today we're bringing you some exciting updates to the Level Editor, as well as share our plans for the rest of the year! Let's get started.

[h2]Level Editor Updates[/h2]



In 2020 we’ve had some amazing maps created by our community in the Level Editor. 2021 is the year when we start transforming it into something more - Game Mode Editor. We’ll start relatively small - you’ll be able to choose between pre-made rules presets. In this update, you already have a game mode selector with all the brawls available.

Next step - you’ll be able to create your own rules from scratch, which means the possibility will be endless. And, of course, we’ll continue working on the Level Editor, giving more tools to our creators.

[h2]New Costumes[/h2]



Of course, this wouldn't be a Secret Neighbor update without some new costumes! Oh, and we hope you're enjoying the new coupon system - let us know in the comments how you'd want to see it evolve.

[h2]The 2021 Roadmap[/h2]

We've already changed the game quite a bit this year - we've added a lot of quality of life improvements, implemented daily quests, added brawl mode rotation - but there's a lot more to come! Check out the roadmap video:

  • New customizations
  • Fixed the Butcher's Hook end-game issue (no more glitches in the next sessions!)
  • Fixed the Inventor’s Craft Wheel vs. Transform into the Neighbor issue
  • Improved networking
  • Fixed some of the legacy maps visuals

Level Editor
  • Game mode selector for your custom maps (choose any brawl you want!)
  • New mode-related items
  • New wall tiles (blocked door, bricked door)
  • New floor and base tiles (Beware of the Lava!)
  • New tile painting mechanics (hold 'Shift' to paint a single tile)
  • Deselect currently selected tile/object (click it once again!)
  • Switch between categories with mouse wheel
  • New tile positioning and targeting mechanics
  • Fixed a lot of item placing glitches (wires, rooftops, stairs, walls... well, lots of them)
  • Fixed wire nodes recursion crash
  • Fixed several backward compatibility issues with complicated legacy maps
