Final Stability testing underway!

We are working on the final details and closing off a few more bugs but we are excited to announce the steam playtest weekend will be going live approx 2 days from now

Barring any last minute emergencies launch time will be as follows!

Sat July 13th - 6am CEST (Friday July 12th 9pm PDT)

As an intentionally small team we believe it takes time and a community to grow a game into something worthy of thousands of hours of game play. You can't do it overnight, you can't do it with a publisher and a release date looming and you can't fake it.

Steam playtest Free play weekend approaching! July 13-14th. Sign Up now!

Our sources have confirmed the next Steam Playtest Free Play Weekend is approaching!

[h2]July 13-14th Exfil's latest update will go live [/h2]

This update should include a wide variety of updates, bug fixes, performance enhancements and new content.

Here is a quick summary of what to expect

  • New Game mode "Rogue"

    1 Rogue team needs to cross the map and EXFIL while hunted by 1-3 teams with the objective of destroying the intel. Periodic RFID pings update the intel location for the Hunters. There are multiple copies of the intel.. As the rogues do you? Decoy? Punch through? Split and rush the gaps? Compared to military football our new game mode is just about ready for testing. We need your feedback to refine it.

  • New Projectile Simulation including penetration, ricochets, Bullet calibers

    We are working through wrapping a few different layers on top of our basic bullet Ballistics including material penetration calculated by both thickness, material type and angle which necessarily leads to deflections and secondary penetration both of which can be the killing blow.

    Damage reduction over distance and after penetration has also been added and currently about to start testing!

    Body armour and Helmets have been added to the damage simulation to incrementally increase survivability. They will reduce the damage factor dramatically when you take hits in those areas.

  • Kit selection screen and weapon customization (Stage 1)
  • Team preparation screen and mission overview
  • A large variety of new scopes to further enhance the roles of various weapons
  • Added Iron sights option for all weapons
  • Body Armour and Helmet integration into the damage system
  • Integration of functional Doors into the world
  • Integration of power switches and power control system into the worlds
  • New Weapon sounds based off professionally record HK416 and MK17s
  • Upgraded and decoupled FSR and DLSS integrations including latest frame generation technology
  • Steam friends integration allowing friending in game from lobby
  • Fixed Join In Progress, Death and Spectator CAM to have more functionality
  • Added spotlight to Air drones allowing night spotting and tracking
  • Added Intel tracker and mission information to HUD / menu display
  • Added GPS notifications to better notify players of objective changes
  • Added option hardcore vs High visibility uniform server settings
  • Added barbed wire that can damage players on contact
  • Added first time control0 guides for new users
  • Added additional protection for players once in Exfil Helicopter

Also heaps of fixes, optimizations, refactors and tweaks.

We appreciate everyone's patience as we have been rolling out a list of new features and improvements in preparation for the next steam test weekend (Likely mid July announcement soon). Feature work has been flying along and we believe the players will be pleasantly surprised with what we have in store for Steam Playtest #4.

We wanted to take this time to outline the details of our upcoming founders packs and why contributing early is the best way to ensure the biggest piece of your investment is well spent.

[h3]Ugh Early access.. failed promises.. [/h3] We may be a small 3 man team but between us we have sold in excess of 6 million copies of games such as Squad, Post Scriptum (squad 44), Starship troopers, Beyond the Wire and several other smaller titles. We know exactly what we need to do and how to get there. In addition, we are incredibly lucky to be surrounded by a large support team of Mods, QA and contractors numbering more than 30 people.



Play before you pay - As part of our commitment to consumers anyone is free to play the game on our Steam playtest weekends with no restrictions. You will know 100% where your money is going upfront and don't have to guess if you will enjoy the game.

More Revenue to the Developers! On a fully released steam game, once platform fees, credit card fees, publishing fees etc are calculated a team might expect to receive approx 40% of each dollar contributed. With direct pre-sales this number exceed 80%!

Support an independent development team One thing Exfil is not is owned by shareholders or investors and that makes.. A WORLD of difference. We set the timelines. We decide which way to take the game. We respond to feedback in person. This project means everything to us professionally and we will only die on our own sword.

That is worth investing in.

Founder Lobby Badge - Your name will be tagged in the Exfil lobby system as a founder

Founder Discord Rank - Discord access to a closed Founder channel with closer access to give feedback to developers and get your feedback and wishlist in the spotlight

Founders Arm Patch in Game - Your character in game will have the option to sport a founders badge on their soldier letting everyone know you were there at the beginning of it all.

Alpha Campaign Badge - Each in game biome will constitute a campaign in the game will have an exclusive wearable patch to commemorate those who served in that campaign.

Founders Credits - Get your name in the in game credits!

Pre-Steam Launch Event - All founders will be entitles to attend our one and only exclusive pre launch day event.

Friends Steam Keys - Several tiers include extra regular steam keys you can give to your friends or clanmates.

Tactical Mustache - Limited run Steam tradeable assets such as the "Tactical Mustache" can be added to your character and also traded with other gamers on steam. We plan to add more such items in the future.

Recruit Tier Donations - Investing at the officer Tier unlocks a very import service to the community as in addition to the items granted in the previous packs we will also donate (2) two founders "Recruit Tier" packages to our friends at Stackup.org or another fine veterans charity. They use these packages to give out to veteran and activity duty gamers and also to help drive charity events.

Playtest goes live Early! (Gamers are astonished!)

Attention all operators!

Weekend playtest has commenced a few hours early!

We don't want to diminish how excited we are for this test but we also want to remind everyone to temper expectations accordingly. This is a Pre-Release Steam Playtest that helps us gather data and feedback for the next phase of development.

Our Goals are

1. To field test the changes to the product publicly and gather feedback and data
2 To keep our commitment to our community and let them play before we ask them to play



We can't be much more transparent than that.

We are a small 3 man team but we know exactly the road we need to take to make Exfil a reality.

Our ask is for those who enjoy the product to take the path with us over the next months and years.

Steam Playtest begins 48~36 hours!! June 1st/2nd

Exfil army recruiting will begin in less than 48 hours!

We are wrapping up the final preparations for Steam Playtest #3. Continuing our commitment to players to let them play before they pay we are offering 48 hours of play testing open to the public.

6 weeks of blood sweat and tears! Many new features and even more bug fixes. Exfil continues to evolve the battlefield and bring us closer and closer to Early access release.

Here are some of the notable additions in current past development cycle

Individual and Team loadouts

Players can now select from a variety of different weapons and see their team mates selection before the round start. This includes selecting custom attachments and throwables.



Weapons Phase #1!

Introduction of the HK416 series and its variant M27 serving as a Squad light machine gun as well as the MK17 series and it's variant the MK20 serving in a designated marksmen style setup. Huge thanks to our friends at Studio801 for the amazing effort and final poduct. Teams like your make this work easy!

Newly added Ironsights for all weapons


Audio

As part of our Early Access goals we have been eagerly waiting to get back to the audio of the game where we know we can move the dial leaps and bounds. We have moved forward with these efforts and have spent the time to craft an audio relevance and distance manager to emulate the actual distant battlefield noise while still maintaining our focus on optimization. Through some clever architecture we can now hear battle sounds ranging across the map but don't have to actually calculate the unseen players several km's away. This coupled with our 32 player servers has given a really nice boost to our soundscape as ranging battles can be heard ringing out in the distance. Look forward to more improvements in this area as we enter our next dev cycle including a overhaul to our boom sounds!

Thanks to the wonderful assets created by the geniuses over at Aftertouch Audio we will be able to rapidly increase the quality and fidelity of the Exfil environment.

The Range

As an ongoing WIP we have introduced a training range where operators can try out weapons, test their shooting skills or generally goof around and have fun. We will continue to build out this space as we gather feedback.

[h2]AMD FSR 3 and Nvidia DLSS 3.5 [/h2]

We have integrated the latest from AMD and Nvidia in the frame generation and upscaling field. Early test results show improvements of 15-30% more frames (and some even higher). Also based on consumer feedback we have made FSR available to Nvidia users as apparently it works great on those cards too!

Be sure to carefully note the best settings for your video cards and give us all and any feedback in our discord!



All this and an additional 100+ bugs fixes and additional Quality of life improvements.
