Patch v1.0.1

Hey folks!

First of all, a huge thank you to everyone who has made this a fantastic launch. I've been overwhelmed by the positive response the game has received. As a solo developer this is really heartwarming and makes the hard work worth it.

This is a small patch to fix some achievement bugs, as well as address a few bits of feedback I've had from players.

If you encounter any other bugs you can submit a report here (or drop into the Discord if you want to discuss it further).

[h3]🔁 Changes[/h3]
  • Clarified information in some tile popups: they now display information about Spawn attacks and Wind attacks (as long as no damage-dealing enemy is targetting the tile).
  • Stats screen now displays how many music packs you have unlocked.
  • Stats screen now displays total number of Teams alongside how many you've completed.

[h3]🐛 Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed 'The Winner Takes It All' achievement not unlocking in some cases (it wasn't taking Survival Bonuses into account).
  • Fixed 'Team Powered' achievement unlocking in Daily Challenge mode if you had previously switched to an unlocked team for another mode.

I'm thrilled to announce that Dungeon Deathball has graduated from Early Access to full release!

Version 1.0 includes many improvements and new features, so be sure to update the game on Steam before hitting the deathball pits. Read on below to find out what's new in v1.0...

[h3]💾 Updating save data from earlier versions[/h3]
  • If you've been playing recent Early Access versions of the game then your save data and leaderboard scores will carry over to v1.0 automatically.
  • If you last played before v0.27.0 (April 2021) then unfortunately your old save data will be incompatible with the latest version. The game will automatically delete your saves and start afresh. Regrettably, there was no way to preserve this old data as the structure of the game code changed too much during development.
  • Steam Cloud was enabled recently. If you were playing the game on multiple PCs before 9th October you may need to resolve cloud save conflicts. Steam will prompt you when you start the game.

  • 7 new music tracks which are unlocked by completing different game modes. They will unlock automatically if you have already completed each mode.
  • Added 'desperate' music when you go over par.
  • Added 'triumphant' music for when you start performing well on a stage. It can also carry over to the results screen if you continue to do well.
  • More hairstyles for human players.

  • Bulldozer perk changes: it no longer stuns enemies, it's cheaper to unlock, and the stamina cost now depends on each attack's distance.
  • Team Gazelles now uses Vitality perk instead of Energise.
  • Team Pacifists have +3 stamina (raised from +2).
  • Powerball perk is slightly more expensive.
  • Previewing a ball shot against another human player now shows where they will be pushed to.
  • The random seed used for your run is now displayed on the final results screen.
  • Updated credits.
  • Clarified the way the Speed Bonus text is displayed on the stage results screen.
  • Improved speed bonus and gem bonus descriptions when you mouse over them on the stage results screen.
  • Increased the volume of Brutolith and Maw sound effects.
  • Changed menu 'cursor move' sound to something less bassy.
  • Pressing 'back' buttons in menus now plays a different sound.
  • The screen no longer dims when it loses focus (it can make it hard to take nice screenshots).
  • Updated quit screen.

  • Steam Cloud is now enabled for all non-developer players (oops).
  • 'My Perk Here is Done' achievement no longer unlocks if you only have one player alive.
  • Attack popups no longer display behind the stage info GUI.
  • Turn countdown board no longer renders behind the prison bars from certain camera angles.
  • Scollbar in Team selection menu is now a reasonable speed.
  • Selected button outline no longer displays off the top of the scrollbar in the Teams menu.
  • Previewing ball shots against Sascatches no longer shows that they will take damage.
  • Using 'Take' no longer causes the ball to revert back to its default appearance.
  • 'Pass' button is longer visible behind the 'Take' button when it's held down.

Bug Fixes & General Improvements (v0.36.4)

Hey folks! The past week or two has seen a lot of new players, following the announcement of v1.0 releasing soon, so a friendly welcome to you all!



Here's an update which fixes some major bugs and improves a bunch of other stuff. Excluding any critical bug fixes, this is probably the last update before v1.0.

This update introduces a link to a new web form which you can use to report bugs (direct link here). If you find any nasty issues please log a bug and I'll do my best to squash it. 🥾

  • Volume controls for jingles.
  • Volume controls for crowd sounds (also affected by overall Sound FX slider).
  • Link to Bug Report web form. Use this to let me know if you find any bugs. 🐛
  • New app icon.

[h3]🔁 Changed[/h3]
  • Clicking on the game window after switching focus to another app will no longer count as a button click. This prevents accidental command inputs during gameplay which can result in fatal mistakes. The screen is also darkened a little when it loses focus.
  • Speed Bonus Target is now displayed on the stage start screen and the results screen.
  • Improved explanation of the 'Speed Bonus' in How To Play section.
  • Improved explanation of S-rank in the rank badge tooltip.
  • Survivor Hall of Fame now tracks up to 70 names (almost double previous number).
  • Your current game mode and random seed are now displayed on the pause menu.
  • The Web Links are now displayed on the pause menu (as well as just on the title screen).
  • Gems are repositioned a little so they don't clash with character sprites.
  • Gems now animate a little bit.
  • The Ball arcs higher when you pass it further, and the shape of the arc has been improved.

  • Enemies (especially Redhorns) can no longer attack the empty tile your player started on if you use 'Swap Positions' button when only 1 player is alive.
  • Daily Challenge seed is now identical across all regions (fixed a bug where the date was being represented differently depending on your region, then being used to generate different seeds).
  • Today's Daily Challenge leader now correctly displays on the title screen (rather than sometimes stating that no one had logged a score today when they had).
  • Survivor Hall of Fame list no longer spills off the bottom of the screen.
  • The Ball's trail is a little narrower to fit within the sprite size.
