We are currently working in the Excel/CSV support update, but is not ready yet, so here is a small update before the new year holidays.


[h3]✨ New Features[/h3]

• Add support for command line arguments (launch options in Steam).
  
• Add "-dark_background" to app launch options to start the app with an experimental dark background. This is not the dark mode, is merely a temporal workaround for those of you that are very photosensitive.
  

[h3]🔧 Changes[/h3]

• Change special variables to be more priority over panel value references in the variable resolver.
  

We're taking a short break and will be out of the office to celebrate the New Year 🎄. After the holidays, we will push forward to finish the next update with the Excel/CSV support!

As many of you may already know, we have been working on Tabletop Creator, optimizing the workflow in every step needed from concept to production with everything we learnt from Card Creator in order to enable you to develop your game in the best possible way.

As a feature of the Steam Tabletop Fest, we've made available a Tabletop Creator Demo. It's already up on the Steam store page for you to try.

This version is free but with limited features and watermarks when exporting, but will be just enough to give you a good feel about the power of the application. Go check it out!

It has been a long time since our last news, we really appreciate your patience and all the interest in the project we are receiving!

"We have been so worried!... Anyway, what have you been doing? When is Tabletop Creator going to be released?"

We haven't stopped for months! We have been really busy working on...



Reventure: Orbtale is a tabletop game based on Reventure's universe, and it has been our first published tabletop game.

"Ok, great. And could you explain WHY haven't you been working on Tabletop Creator!?"

The answer is... we did it as well! Because to develop Orbtale we have been using... (dramatic pause)

Tabletop Creator integrates a full professional workflow, so we went through a real tabletop game project and we put all our experience and learning within Tabletop Creator, adding new workflows and features and reorienting other ones.

"Does that mean the Tabletop Creator it's already done? When is it going to be published?"

Actually, Tabletop Creator is still under development and is not ready to be published, but we have some good news!

First, we have opened new Discord channels at our community server, so you all have a proper place to meet, comment and ask questions. Also we are going to start being more active, sharing with you news and other aspects related to Tabletop Creator development!

"Awesome! But still, when is it going to be published?"

Well, you probably already saw this announcement title... we plan to release a first Tabletop Creator free demo at the end of October!!



As a demo, it will have a couple of limitations, but will let you experience the new workflow and results. We are really looking forward to hearing your comments, suggestions and feedback!

Let's do a quick Q&A about it ;) ;)

Q) It's already february! Where's Tabletop Creator?

A) We know that the store page lists "FEB 2021" as the launch date, but this is referring to the steam page publication date! We will soon announce the actual Early Access release date.

Q) Then, when is Tabletop Creator going to be released?

A) After going through a real tabletop game launch (Reventure: Orbtale), we are transferring our learning and experience to Tabletop Creator in the form of new features and reorienting others. There will be a free demo from late October'21 and we expect to launch it over 2022.

Q) Can I make digital tabletop games with Tabletop Creator?

A) You can design, balance and test your game with Tabletop Creator, but it does not generate a video game, but all the assets for your tabletop game.

Q) I have a project in Card Creator. Will Tabletop Creator support the same project format?

A) Yes. Tabletop Creator will import your projects to the new format. Be careful though: this is a one way trip only, so be sure to back up your files first.

Q) Will Card Creator continue receiving support?

A) Yes. We may take longer to patch some issues because our current focus is on the TC release, but rest assured, we won't leave you hanging if you run into any issues.

Q) What's the difference between Card Creator and Tabletop Creator?

A) Tabletop Creator is a new iteration, based on the same ideas but oriented to a full editorial approach and all kinds of game components, while Card Creator is focused on prototyping and fast iteration of card games. They share some similarities but have completely different workflows.

Q) Will Tabletop Creator be available for Linux/MacOS/[INSERT_PLATFORM_NAME]?

A) Not at first. We'll consider adding extra platforms in the future based on community demand.

Q) Will Tabletop Creator be available in my language?

A) During the early access phase, it'll be only available in english. Eventually, it'll be translated to various languages like Card Creator.

Q) Will Tabletop Creator have RTL support?

A) Not at launch, but eventually yes.

Q) Will Card Creator owners have any special deal when purchasing Tabletop Creator?

A) Yes! We are considering different options and will share our final decision soon. In the meantime, feel free to share your suggestions.
