Rainy Day Racer, version 1.01
Hello! The first update for Rainy Day Racer is now live.
We've cleaned up the code and compressed the assets better; the download size and memory use is about half of what it was, the loading shouldn't hang as much, and it shouldn't randomly force quit anymore.
As mentioned elsewhere, we've also had to clear the leaderboards to support a new ghost format. We don't expect to have to do this again. Our apologies to you early record setters. Soy Fish, your legend will live on in our hearts forever.
Also:
Reworked the handling somewhat; drifting's a bit more loose and you'll now be swept around curves more smoothly. We'll continue to tweak it. Also, we're working on more restrained handling characteristics for the reverse courses, so that drifting isn't such a death sentence when the assistance is disabled.
Replays will work properly on reverse courses now. The system occasionally still puts the camera inside a wall, but we'll sort that next time.
Fixed the day/night cycle timing, and the sun, which will now - get this - actually revolve around the earth. Eagle-eyed players may have noticed that it formerly just sat there off the coast, glowering sinisterly.
That's it for now. Please report in on the forums if you encounter any other crashes or bugs. We'll have another update up next week to sort out some visual bugs and effects we're not 100% pleased with, and maybe the first of some extra features.
Cheers!
