Dev Diary #022 - Project Overview Polishing

[p][/p][p]In addition to the main features of our next update, 0.10, we are planning to make some minor adjustments. We would like to take a closer look at one of these in this first Dev Diary for the Soldiers Update.[/p][p]Now that we are about halfway through our Early Access phase, we are starting to polish existing systems. We are starting with the project view, which we have revised with the aim of making it more user-friendly and intuitive, as well as expanding it for future features.[/p]
Slots
• [p]Soldier-specific slots: In 0.10, we are introducing slots that can only be assigned to specific soldiers.[/p]
 • [p]Free slots: The empty, free slots have been marked with a ? to make it clearer that any soldier can be added there.[/p]
 • [p]Unlimited slots: Projects without a fixed number of slots now display a + next to the existing slots if there are soldiers available to be assigned there.[/p]
[p][/p][p]Each slot now has a tooltip when hovering over it. A single click on a slot or the + now opens the project info window on the right-hand side. A double click on a soldier-specific slot directly assigns the corresponding soldier to the project. A double click on ? or + automatically moves a valid, random soldier to the project (perfect for letting chance decide who has to do latrine duty).[/p]
Portraits
[p][/p][p]While we're on the subject of clicking: Double-clicking on a soldier portrait will take you directly to the dialogue with that soldier, if possible. Right-clicking removes that soldier from the project and assigns them to the fallback project (e.g. Rest, Take cover).[/p]
Drag & drop
[p][/p][p]When dragging portraits, it is now clearer which slot they are assigned to and what their old project was. If you drag the portrait into the empty space, the soldier is reassigned to their old project. The tooltip for relevant attributes when dragging has also been moved closer to the project so that it will hopefully not be overlooked as often.[/p]

Games That Remember bundle & Games Forged in Germany event

[p][/p][p][/p][p]We're happy to announce that, from today, All Quiet in the Trenches will be available as part of the Games That Remember Steam Bundle, alongside the amazing game The Darkest Files by Paintbucket Games.[/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]This bundle brings together two games that deal with the darker chapters of German history - events whose consequences still shape our present.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]From today until the end of July, we are also taking part in the Games Forged in Germany event. This gives you the opportunity to purchase the game as part of the bundle at an all-time low price during that period.[/p][p]https://store.steampowered.com/sale/Games-Forged-in-Germany[/p]

Soldiers update in progress and early access period extended

[p]Hello everyone, [/p][p][/p][p]our last major update (Gas Update) is now running quite stable. We plan to implement the remaining minor bug fixes and adjustments in the next major update, which brings us to the next point:[/p][p][/p][p]The Soldiers Update (Version 0.10) is officially in development. We began the planning and implementation phase a few weeks ago. Although this is once again a big update, it will take less time than 0.9 based on the current status. We are aiming for a release in October. As always, we are a small team and delays may occur. We will keep you updated![/p][p][/p][p]The core elements of version 0.10 will be two new soldiers and unique skills that can be learned. We are very much looking forward to presenting these and other new features in detail in the upcoming Dev Diaries.[/p][p][/p][p]Early Access status: We originally planned for Early Access to last around two years. After a year and a half of development and numerous enhancements – many of which went beyond the original plan – we have decided to extend Early Access to three years.[/p][p][/p][p]This will give us the time we need to implement the next updates with great care and allow us to release another free update during the Early Access phase (either version 0.12 or 0.13). We will provide more information as soon as possible![/p][p][/p][p]We have updated the Early Access info box on our store page accordingly.[/p][p][/p][p]Thank you for your support and see you soon![/p]

Small Patch 0.9.4

[p]One of the central statements of our game is that you cannot change the war. [/p][p]Nevertheless, it was possible to play the game beyond 1918 if none of the soldiers from the start of the game survived until their second home leave.[/p][p]We have fixed this bug in this version. The older version 0.9.3 will still be available via the Steam Beta Branch in case of problems or if anyone wants to start a playthrough that is theoretically infinitely playable using the instructions above (it might get very boring at some point...)![/p][p][/p]
Patch Notes 0.9.4
[p]Improvements[/p]
 • [p]Limited the number pages that are turned in the journal at the start of a new phase[/p]
 • [p]Changed the notification text for attributes with value changes[/p]
[p]Bugfixes[/p]
 • [p]Fixed a bug where the second Home Leave did not trigger properly, resulting in infinite gameplay[/p]
