Thank you for purchasing ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS XIV.
We have answers to the questions that many of you have been asking.

1. Under certain circumstances, the game stops running after the in-game movie is shown. We are investigating the issue where the game stops running after the in-game movie is shown. It is an issue when a Radeon graphic board is used and the driver version is updated to the most recent Recommended v19.12.2/Option v20.1.2. The game is confirmed to run when the driver version is 19.10.1 (WHQL), so please try rolling back the update. We are currently discussing and investigating this issue with AMD.
The latest driver (Radeon 20.1.3) has been released to solve this issue. Please update to this driver to play. https://www.amd.com/en/support

2. Gameplay becomes very sluggish/slow, or does not start under certain circumstances.

For laptops, if the game drops in FPS, or stops running, try the following steps:
(1) Start NVIDIA Control Panel.
(2) Open “3D Settings” in “Select Task” and select “Manage 3D Settings”.
(3) Change the "Preferred Graphics Processor" setting to "High Performance NVIDIA Processor" on the ""Global Settings"" tab and click Apply.
(4) Restart the game.

3. When using multi-display, the game becomes sluggish/slow, or does not start.

Regardless of having a graphics board, the onboard configurations are prioritized, causing the game to become sluggish/slow or to stop running. In order to prioritize the graphics board, try the following steps:
(1) Right-click on the desktop and select "Display Settings"
(2) From the display list, select the display to use for the game
(3) Click the box "Make this my main display" in the bottom of the screen
(4) Restart the game

4. No voices during the game
If voices are not played after installing the game, this is due to a bug where the game launcher default settings have voice set to OFF. In the launcher, please set voice to ON. We are looking at fixing this issue.

Hello everyone!

From this week, I will talk about the scenarios covered in this game.



The first scenario I’ll talk about is the Yellow Turban Rebellion. This is a large-scale rebellion caused by the followers of the Way of Peace lead by its founder Zhang Jiao. It was a direct catalyst in the destruction of the long lasting Han Dynasty.

At this time, He Jin, the Empress's older brother, was appointed to grand general of the Han dynasty. For the sake of simplicity, he is treated as a Ruler in the game. Since he was appointed because of his blood ties, it is doubtful if he had the ability to control this situation, but under his command he had talented officers such as Lu Zhi, Huangfu Song and Zhu Jun who fought well and suppressed the rebellion in a short time compared to its scale. The rebellion uprising began in February and was suppressed in October, so it lasted about six months.

Zhu Jun is described as a competent officer in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel, but he is often portrayed as incompetent in RTK works in Japan, including the novel by Eiji Yoshikawa. I also had carried this impression of Zhu Jun based on his portrayal in the RTK mangas by Mitsuteru Yokoyama, and considered Zhu Jun incompetent until I joined this company... ;) Here are the officer images of the founder Zhang Jiao, and Zhu Jun, with my apologies (?) for the misunderstanding.





The decline of the Han Dynasty became apparent with this rebellion. Regional powerful individuals such as Dong Zhuo take advantage of this situation and form independent forces. The Peach Garden Oath, where Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei swore their brotherhood, take place around this time and is the beginning of the story of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. This event is shown at the start of this scenario.

Looking at the layout diagram, it may seem that forces appears to be clustered to the north. The central unifying force, called “Zhongyuan”, was overwhelming, and the area around Wu and Shu was still buried in the shadow of the times. The regional powerful individuals also shared the goal to conquer Zhongyuan.

This time with the single map introduction we will showcase a place of a slightly different nature. That is Nanman.



The large city you see in the upper right of the screen is Yunnan. It's not quite on the screen, but a little off the bottom of the screen is Jianning.
　
Naturally, you can see the difference by the color. Yes, Nanman is a poisonous swamp. The paths through it are narrow, and a large force cannot quickly push its way through.
Furthermore, there are steep mountains in front of Yunnan, leaving only the option of circling around them.
In the center area of the swamps is an area core called Dianchi. It is said that Zhuge Liang was able to push this far into the land.
　
On a side note, the Nanman King, Meng Huo, looks like a total barbarian, right? However, it is said that he went on to become the Minister of the Censorate, a position that oversaw the governors. This shows how talented he really was.

I also would like to introduce Hulao gate.
　
This is the land where the giants of the Three Kingdoms period, Dong Zhuo, Lu Bu, Liu Bei and his brothers, Cao Cao, Yuan Shao, and many others, all met and clashed. At this point, there isn't any need for a greater explanation, right?


　
On the screen, the city you see on the other side of Hulao gate is the capital of the Later Han, Luoyang. Actually, if you could see past Luoyang, you would also see the Hangu and Tong gates. Further on, you would find Chang'an, the capital of the Former Han dynasty.
　
With this, one might get the impression that Luoyang and Chang'an are relatively close. Especially compared to the Yinping route we introduced the other day.
As can be expected, it is absolutely one of the land's that must be considered in making strategies. In particular, enemies will always be aiming for it and given that the surrounding lands are flat, it is rather easy to move military forces there. It is not an easy place to defend. Thought and preparation is required.
　
How to conquer these lands? How to protect them?

For our officer images, this time I chose Zhang Fei, the first out of Liu Bei and his brothers to battle with Lu Bu. Different works portray it in different ways, but in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, it is Zhang Fei who fights first. Well, he is a favorite...
