Burden of Command News

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Today is Thanksgiving for our friends in the U.S.A.

It is tradition that the American military does all it can to provide a hot turkey dinner to every soldier, sailor, and marine on this day. This holds true in both war and peace.

We offer our sincerest thanks to all those who serve in the cause of Freedom, no matter which uniform you wear...and especially to those in harm's way.

Thank you also to all of you awesome community members who continue to support Burden of Command. You inspire and motivate us every day.

We wish you the happiest and warmest of holidays,
The Burden of Command Team

PS: As a token of our appreciation, we plan to give you all an early Christmas present tomorrow. Be sure to tune in and see what it is!

Wrestling Pythons

We've been a bit slow in releasing news about game-related updates lately. The good news is that big things were happening behind the scenes.

You may recall a post a while back where we announced the addition of a new play tester named Chaim Krause.

Well, it turns out that Chaim is far more than a play tester. He has been instrumental in our upgrade from Python 2 to Python 3, which took A LOT of work. As you can see above, that's just a part of what Chaim has been up to.

As a result of his hard workd and dedication, Chaim has been promoted to Devops Engineer!

Thank you, Chaim! We couldn't have done it without you.

Sincerely,
The Burden of Command Team

Play Testers Wanted!

Burden of Command is looking for play testers!

We are putting out an open call to test the tactical engine for BoC.

Candidates will be chosen in the following phases:

Phase 1. Prior Game or Software Development. These folks know how the sausage is made and are comfortable operating in early developmental stages of a game engine.

Phase 2. Prior Play Testing Experience. These seasoned souls are familiar with industry standards. They will do all they can to 'break' our precious game, making it more stable and robust in the process.

Phase 3. Anyone Else Interested in Burden of Command. This is our opportunity to gain a wider perspective. People from myriad backgrounds will give us their thoughts and opinions to make the finished product the best it can be.

We hope to have a testing pool made up of people of all ages and interests, regardless of historical or military knowledge. We're looking for input from as many perspectives as possible so that this game experience can be accessible and meaningful to everyone from casual gamers to combat veterans.

And now a message from your commanding officer:

Greetings, Captain.

A good leader knows his men.

Here's a summary from the personnel file of one of your platoon leaders. You can see an image of him above. Study both well.

Name: Eddie Thompson
Rank: 2nd Lieutenant
Age: 22
Home State: Vermont

Lieutenant Thompson is an idealist. Few doubted the evils of war, but the fresh-faced Lt Thompson always sought out the good in men. The American spirit is more than mom and apple pie. Lt. Thompson is proof of that.

In the coming weeks, I'll give you files and photos of more of your men. Get to know them as best you can, Captain.

Their lives are in your hands.

That is all, Captain.
Now see to your men.
