Netflix is getting one of the best roguelites around and more next year

Hades, one of the best games from 2020, will be joining Netflix's lineup of mobile games next year, alongside a number of other titles.

It's currently Netflix Geeked Week, meaning the streaming giant has been announcing all sorts of new shows - including a Witcher anime that's bringing back Doug Cockle as Geralt. But, Netflix had more than just shows up its proverbial sleeve this week, as it also announced a slate of games that would be joining its gaming side of the service across 2024. The biggest and most exciting announcement is easily Supergiant's incredible roguelite Hades, which honestly feels like one of the most fitting titles to come to Netflix so far. It's got action, romance, comedy, all the right components for a Netflix hit, so maybe this will be the one that convinces users its games are worth playing (especially considering less than 1% of subscribers actually play its games daily).

Hades isn't the only game joining Netflix next year either. Death's Door, a tough-as-nails action game that isn't quite a Soulslike but certainly does have similarities to the genre's combat, is also coming to Netflix. Again, this one feels like a great fit for Netflix, I could easily see a show about a crow reaper going around collecting souls. There's also Katana Zero, a neo-noir action-platformer with "instant-death combat," and some stylish pixel art.

August PS Plus offers incredible PlayStation exclusive for all members

PlayStation Plus has a killer line-up of free games this August, available for free across all tiers of subscribers. PGA Tour 2K23, wonderful PlayStation exclusive Dreams and the excellent Death's Door will all be downloadable starting August 1.

This offer stands for PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra, and PS Plus Premium subscribers. Once you download them, they'll remain in your library forever. However, once August is over they'll no longer be downloadable, so you'll need to redeem them quickly before they must be bought again.

First up, PGA 2023 is the latest entry in a franchise of golfing games that remains popular even after all these years. It's king of its own circle, so if you've got any interest in golf whatsoever, it's well worth a download. We've not reviewed one of these in a while, but it's gone down fairly well with reviewers so it's at least worth a try.

Game Pass gets 25 million subscribers and one of the best indie games of 2021

While we contemplate the possibilities of Call of Duty, Overwatch, and Crash Bandicoot on Game Pass, Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard isn't slowing down the subscription service. A pile of new games have just been announced for Game Pass in January, including one of the best indie games of last year. Oh, and Microsoft has just confirmed that Game Pass has reached 25 million subscribers.

The indie game that I'm excited about is Death's Door, a fantastic action game from the developers of Titan Souls, which blends some Souls-influenced design tropes with a gorgeous aesthetic and Zelda-style adventuring. That'll be coming to the service this Thursday, January 20.

Other surprises in today's announcement include Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. This first entry in the anime-style murder game visual novel is available on the service today. Also out today is (the previously-announced) Nobody Saves the World, a Diablo-like action-RPG from the Guacamelee devs.
