Deadside continues to grow and move forward!

In this blog we’ll talk more about the process of the game development and give you some insight on how some things work. We can’t demonstrate all of these processes to you, but we’ll try our best at explaining them.

Game development is a pretty complex and multi-faceted process which we are going to examine from the point of time costs. From the player’s perspective it’s not always clear why it takes so long to release updates, because the working process can’t be seen. And we know that waiting is one of the most painful things, especially if you don’t have necessary information about the status of the update.

So, let’s shed some light on that matter. The thing is, some of the tasks we face demand immediate solution, usually they are of a technical nature or balancing ones, and some of them are not time-consuming, and the results of others can’t be achieved on a mid-term or long-term perspective. However, we’re working on all of these subjects simultaneously. We’re constantly gathering and analyzing feedback to resolve them quickly and improve the quality of the game, and trying our best to make necessary changes as fast as possible.
But we can’t do everything immediately for objective reasons.
The process of solving many of these tasks is gradual and requires a lot of time.

For example, to identify the source of the problem with the absence of damage registration in some cases, which some of the players encountered with, is pretty complicated task because of the inability to repeat this situation and of the unpredictable manner in which this error occurs. In order to fix it we’ve created the system whose mechanisms helped us to spot the sources of the problem. At the moment we’ve made necessary changes in the hit reg mechanic, which removed the known negative aspects, and it should improve the situation after the 0.1.8 update release.
Currently, these changes concerning shooting mechanic and grenade damage are getting tested on the test server.

We’ve shown you some of the content that’s waiting for you in the upcoming update. Today we would like to show you the process of the development instead of the final result.

This helicopter will occasionally roam the sky and drop the cargo during “AirDrop” events. You will also be able to see this helicopter crashed during “HeliCrash” event which we talked about in our 0.1.8 roadmap

This monster will kill anyone in just one shot, even if the target wearing heavy utility vest. You will be able to find It during the missions or in the boxes with prize loot.

We know that many of you are waiting for the world expansion and new visual content for it, new events and opportunities. The development process doesn’t end on what we’ve revealed already for the next update, there are still fundamental complex updates behind the curtains and it is a long-term process which we don’t always have an option to demonstrate.

Road map 0.1.8

Hello Deadsiders, today we’ve decided to share our future plans with you and also tell you about next big content update 0.1.8.

We’ve analyzed your feedback and combined it with our vision for the future development of the game, thus we’ve made necessary adjustments for development plan which we will be using in the next months.

The following list of things is the first iteration of the upcoming changes which we’re planning to include in the next update. This list is not our final version and doesn’t indicate everything we’re working on.

We’re doing our best to make sure every listed feature appears in the game as fast as possible.

The update 0.1.8 is tentatively scheduled to be released at the end of the summer.



Events and missions

- “AirDrops” – an airdrop of a valuable cargo in random place

- “Helicrashes” – helicopter holding valuable cargo crashes in random place. There is a container near the helicopter, guarded by the hostile NPC.

Unlike the ordinary missions, loot box will be available from the start. Kill anyone who stands in your way or use your cunning and take the cargo, you can choose whatever option you like!

New HP regeneration system

- New powerful first-aid kit with negative effect for hunger and hydration indicators

- Health regeneration near the campfire


Other changes

- Option to turn on and off scope by pressing or holding button

- Craft necessary amount of items in one craft-cycle if you have enough resources

- Fix for the ability to go through walls

- Fix for other errors, additional work on improving performance and stability of the game


Server admin panel

- Increase the number of players in squads/groups to 10-15 people

- Option to set the bots difficulty (aim, damage, health)

- Welcoming message (MOTD) in a big window at the center of screen

- Option to set the bases lifetime

- Message in chat containing ban reason on private servers

- Ability to set ban time on private servers

- Kit-starters on private servers

- Hold your breath while scoping

- Some animations to help you express emotions

Update 0.1.7

Server changes

Following your multiple requests, we’ve decided to open several official servers “First person only”

We’ll also shorten the list of the official servers for those regions where servers aren’t busy enough in order to optimize their work.

Code locks for base doors

Now you can equip your bases doors with a code lock. Ordinary doors, which are available for opening only to base owner, will be accessible for usage to any player, no matter if he’s the base owner or not



Campfire

And to help you feel the ambience of nights and evenings you can now sit by the fire accompanied by your friends. The campfire lives only limited amount of time and can be put out any moment.

Improved Steam integration

- Blacklist now available in chat (RBM on chat message – steam profile – block all communication)

- Steam now have a list of players you’ve played with on one server (Shift+Tab – “View players” – “Recent games”)

Sound system

- New weapon sounds: gunshots, reloading etc.

- New sounds of footsteps

- New audio system for the wind noises, forests, seas, rivers and lakes.

- Added music while you’re loading

- Added audio settings for voice chat and microphone

Admin panel

-Added option to download kill logs

-Added option to change max number of people for the squad

-Added option to reserve slots for admins

-Fixed restarting schedule not working properly on private servers

Chat fixes

- Added ability to copy message

- Added ability to answer message by double-clicking on it

Attention!


[h3]Because of these changes in doors mechanics we’re forced to wipe bases, in order to not leave them unprotected for an unknown period of time after the update release. Wipe will also affect characters and their storages because some abilities to duplicate items were still there. These methods will not work after the update release.[/h3]

Official servers will be shut down

Hello deadsiders we are starting to update servers to the 0.1.7 version, official servers will be shut down. In a couple of minutes we'll publish full release notes.
