Update 1.8: Weapons & Workbench Overhaul
Hello Deadsiders!
Tomorrow at 11am CET / 4am CST we release update 1.8!

In this update we bring you more realistic and tactical weapons, an expansion to our workbenches, new base objects and lots more! To complement this new content, lots of rebalancing has been done according to your feedback to further improve combat and progression. And as a special treat, you have a new .50 caliber revolver to obliterate people with.

⚠️Store your weapons in your base! ⚠️
This update adds a lot more durability to all weapons, but those stored in your character’s inventory and safezone will not receive this added durability and appear broken. Only weapons in base storage will be adjusted

⚠️If you have a base on Mirny in G4, your base may be deleted ⚠️
This is due to the addition of a new structure on the beach, north west of the sawmill POI. More info can be found in this post below, directly above the patch notes

Our CM Boots made a full video overview on v1.8, check it out!

Version 1.8 brings a bunch of changes to weapons along with new attachments for them. We have completely rebalanced all weapons in the game to make them more realistic, durable, and specialized. Weapons have 2-3 times more durability, they are generally more accurate, and now deal damage based on range instead of a flat value. In our previous post about the public test we go into much more detail, you can also check our official wiki on release for the full stats if you are interested.

Also coming in this update is the massive .50cal R-12 revolver! It has a slow rate of fire and not the best accuracy, but deals a scary 135 damage with each shot.

One highly requested feature getting added this update are SMG and AR suppressors. These silencers don’t actually silence the weapon, like real life they only reduce the sound signature to make your reports harder to pinpoint. They won’t last forever though, eventually you will burn through your suppressor's durability that can’t be repaired. These attachments are rare, but we have added a bottle suppressor that you can craft. It has very low durability as you would expect, but it works in a pinch.

Along with an overhaul to weapons, we have also changed up the crafting and workbench system. Lots of crafting will now be done at your base at a workbench, with more complex recipes requiring the more expensive advanced workbench. Weapon repair has changed a bit as well, now done at the new repair and dismantling workbench. Each weapon now has its own individual part, ensuring that rare weapons require rare parts for maintenance.

Ammunition crafting is now possible as well using the new Ammo Bench. Using gunpower, scrap metal and other various components you an assemble ammunition of your choice right at your base.

Update 1.8 brings more additions to your base with sloped roofing, wall carpets, and mannequins! Now you can display your armor, mount carpets on walls, all under a traditional looking roof.

Some additions have been made to Mirny as well, with new industrial zone buildings. The sand quarry POI had its industrial zone improved with new assets, and the sawmill at G4 has a new industrial area on the beach. We aren’t doing any sort of wipe with this update, however if your base is close to the new industrial area at G4, it may be deleted to prevent clipping.

Lots more has been added in update 1.8, check the full patch notes below!

PTS 1.8: Weapon & Crafting Rebalance
Hello Deadsiders!

Today we begin the public testing of update 1.8!
We are very excited to hear your feedback during this test, as version 1.8 brings some major changes. Weapon balance and crafting has been completely rebalanced, with the goal to improve combat and progression. There is also plenty of new content like the R-12 revolver, new weapon mods like SMG and AR suppressors, sloped roofing, display mannequins, and more!

No need to worry about a wipe as well, in version 1.8 you will retain all your progress! No wipe!

⚠️However, if you have a base on Mirny in G4, your base may be deleted ⚠️
This is due to the addition of a new structure on the beach, north west of the sawmill POI. More info can be found in this post below, directly above the patch notes

In this post we will detail what you can expect from this update, but as always we have to mention that specific details are still subject to change. You may also want to begin the switch to the PTS branch while you read to save time, here are the instructions;

How to connect to the Public Test Server (PTS):
 • Right-click Deadside in your Steam library; click on Properties…;
 • Choose BETAS, then select the “public_test_server - PTS” branch from the drop-down menu;
 • Wait for the update to download and launch the game;
 • Connect to one of the available official PTS servers, which depends on your location.
How to switch back to the live version of the game:
 • Right-click Deadside in your Steam library, then click on Properties…;
 • Choose BETAS, then select the “None” branch from the drop-down menu;
 • Wait for an update to download and launch the game;
 • Connect to one of the available official live servers depending on your location.

First up, let’s dig into the weapon rebalance as we have a lot to cover there. This rebalance addresses feedback from our community regarding durability, repair, and weapon accuracy. It also takes into account the new weapon attachments, as they shake up balance as well. We believe weapons are now more realistic, with each weapon having a more specialized role for more variety in gameplay.

In general, all weapons will now be more accurate with higher muzzle velocity and less drop. To limit effective range, bullets now lose damage as they travel through the air. The rate at which they lose damage depends on the caliber, for example pistol and smg rounds will lose damage much faster than a rifle or sniper. This solution is more realistic, and simplifies shooting for the player.

Weapon durability has been adjusted according to your feedback as well. All weapons have had their durability value increased by 2-3 times on average, meaning it will take 2-3 times longer for your weapons to lose durability.

On the other hand, how you repair weapons has been changed as well. Previously we had weapon parts according to weapon type, sniper parts for example. Now each weapon has its own individual parts. So an MG-36 requires MG-36 parts to be repaired. This will make maintaining high tier weapons more difficult, as obtaining their parts will require more effort. Previously you could maintain your M99 easily with sniper parts, which you could get by grabbing a bunch of Mosins or S85s from a mission. Now you will need M99 parts, which are much more rare. Additionally, machine oil will be required to repair weapons at a repair workbench. Higher tier weapons will require more machine oil to repair. Because of this new use, the amount of machine oil used for vehicle upkeep has been halved.

While those are the largest changes included in the rebalance, it's important to note that this is a complete overhaul. Every weapon in the game has had their stats and price adjusted. So if you want more details check the patch notes, and after the full release check the official wiki for all the nerdy data.

Next let's talk about another big change to weapons, and that is the addition of SMG and AR suppressors. This attachment has been requested for a long time, and we are happy to deliver a version that we can be confident in. There had to be careful consideration when it comes to audio and weapon balance, and we hope for your feedback on that during the test.

Like real life, silencers / suppressors will not actually make your weapon silent. Instead it reduces the sound signature of your shot, making your sound report difficult to notice and precisely locate. Even still we expect suppressors to be very powerful, and so they will have a durability value. They cannot be repaired, and will eventually burn out with lots of use. In fact, other attachments will now have durability in version 1.8, like muzzle brakes and extended magazines. Scopes / Optics will not have durability though, remaining the same as before.

We have also added a craftable bottle suppressor that can be applied to your weapons. Crafted from a plastic bottle, duct tape and rags, this improvised suppressor will only be effective for a short period of time due to its low durability.

In addition to suppressors, update 1.8 also adds two new red dots, pistol red dots, pistol extended magazines, and two 6x optics. These attachments will give more late game viability to pistols, while also allowing players to engage at longer ranges easier.

Speaking of pistols, version 1.8 brings one of our most unique weapons to date, the R-12 revolver! This “assault revolver” uses 5 .50 caliber rounds, loaded with a speed loader. In its current implementation, it deals a whopping 135 damage with 50% armor penetration. However its fire rate is very slow, it doesn’t have the best accuracy, and the projectiles are a bit slow. Keep in mind these stats are subject to change, but even with that in mind this revolver is sure to be a hilariously absurd hand cannon.

Last but not least when it comes to weapons, all you mosin enjoyers out there will be happy to hear that the animations have been changed to accept stripper clips! These small metal clips loosely hold 5 rounds that can quickly be “stripped,” or rather pushed down into the magazine to quickly do a full reload. No longer will you have to sit there slowly loading all 5 rounds one at a time.

Next let's talk about workbenches and crafting. In update 1.8 your base and its workbenches will become more important for crafting, while also giving you more items to craft. The goal is to improve balance, progression, and user experience all at once.

We have decided to split the existing workbench into three new workbenches. There will still be a workbench item in the game, but it will have a new role. These three new workbenches are the painting workbench, dismantling workbench, and repair workbench. This will simplify the UI and prevent frustrating unintentional disassembly accidents.

Now to craft many items in Deadside, you will need to use a workbench at your base. This is the new role of the workbench, as well as the new advanced workbench for more complicated recipes. We have also rebalanced crafting recipes in general, all to improve gameplay balance and progression overall.

The explosive workbench has been changed as well. Now to craft explosives you interact with the workbench directly, just like every other workbench.

You can also now craft ammunition at your base using the new ammo bench. This bench consumes gunpowder, scrap metal, and other items to craft various ammunition of your choice.

Bases have gotten a few new additions in this update as well. Now you can construct sloped roofing to give your base a more homely look. Of course we also expect these items to be used in creative ways for base defense, and other building projects.

In our last update, version 1.7, we added weapon plaques to display your firearms. Now in version 1.8, we have added mannequins to display your clothing and armor! These mannequins are crafted using mannequin parts, found primarily in a store within Kamensk, and rarely in car trunks, trash piles, and decor boxes. As an added bonus, carpets can now be hung on walls!

For our last major addition of version 1.8, a new industrial zone has been added into the Mirny map, along with a remodel of the sand quarry industrial zone. Thankfully these additions will not require a full base wipe, however if you have a base within the area of the new G4 industrial POI, it will be deleted on release of version 1.8. This is to prevent cases of bases clipping into the ground, or into the new structures. If you have a base within this area shown below, we recommend moving your items to a new location before the update is released.

As you can see, version 1.8 has made lots of changes. Your feedback during testing is important not only to find bugs, but to help us fine tune all of the rebalancing done in this update. The current patch notes can be found below, though keep in mind they are still subject to change until release.

WIP: Upcoming Updates 2026
Hello Deadsiders!
The year 2025 is coming to an end, and looking back, it has been a challenging one, but it has been marked by new milestones in the development of the project: Deadside was released on consoles. The game's community has been joined by many new players. We created a new map focused on more intense PvP gameplay - Potny - and expanded the Mirny map. We were also the first to create procedural map generation on Unreal Engine and added the ability and tools to modify the game, giving the community virtually unlimited variability and creative freedom. The base management and crafting systems were significantly expanded, while new weapons were added and old models were redesigned. We experimented widely together with you and discovered new ways to make the game more interesting.

Today we want to share with you some exciting and important changes and features that will be coming soon. While they haven't been released this year, they are just around the corner and will be available in the next couple of updates.

We want to bring back the feeling of gunfights on the battlefield that you loved so much in Deadside, adding new elements that we all missed, while improving the overall gunplay experience.

Weapons in the game will be rebalanced to be more realistic and better reflect their real-world purpose. Ballistics in the game will be enhanced with another important factor: bullet damage will decrease with distance. We will also change the spread of weapons so that firing becomes more predictable.

We will also continue to expand the range of weapons and modifiers, so in the upcoming updates, the game will feature the powerful RSH-12 revolver.

The game will feature new collimator sights, as well as the ability to mount them on handguns, extended magazines for the IZH-70, TTk, and C1911. And finally, the long-awaited new optical scopes with higher magnification than those already available in the game.

Changes to weapons involve more than just expanded customization options; they also come with increased durability and the repair mechanics will be more in line with real-world logic. In addition, the wear and repair system will now apply to weapon mods as well.

And of course, we haven't neglected our shelters. New functional modules and decorative objects will be added to the game in the near future, as well as a new base construction element “roof slopes” which, given your creativity, will surely find wider use beyond their intended purpose.

Game balance adjustments will also be made, affecting loot drops, crafting recipes, and machine operations.

To sum up, we still don't have an exact release date, but we can already outline the sequence of new features.
What's definitely coming in the next update:
• Extended magazines for single-row magazine pistols (IZH-70, TTk, C1911)
 • New collimator sights
 • The ability to mount collimator sights on pistols
 • New optical sights with increased magnification
 • Bullet damage decreases with distance
 • New weapon spread settings
 • Weapon rebalancing for greater realism and weapon niche differentiation
 • Rebalancing of loot, crafting recipes, and machine operation
 • Increased weapon durability and changed repair logic
 • Roof slopes for base construction
 • New functional modules for bases
 • New decorative objects for bases
These features are currently in development and may not be finalized by the time the update is released:
• New revolver
 • Weapon module wear and repair

Last but not least, we are preparing an extended preview of our plans for the upcoming 2026, full of exciting new features. Don't miss it!
Best wishes from the entire Bad Pixel and tinyBuild team! Enjoy the holidays and Happy New Year and Merry Christmas!
Stay tuned! See you in Deadside!
