Conqueror’s Tales: Joan of Arc

To mark International Women’s Day 2022 and the upcoming launch of Conqueror’s Blade: Paragons, we’re delving into French history to commemorate their national heroine: Joan of Arc. Celebrating strong women and their contributions to culture, politics, and socioeconomics, as well as the advancement of Women’s Rights is the name of the game on this important day, and as we approach a new Season inspired by the history and heroes of France, there could be no one better to honour than the remarkable and legendary Joan.

Joan of Arc (or Jeanne d’Arc) began life as a peasant girl in a small village named Domrémy in 1412 AD. From her humble beginnings, she could never have imagined that she would be canonised for signalling the end to the Hundred Years' War between England and France she was born amidst. At just thirteen years old, Joan had her first inspiring ‘vision’. These divine guidances would continue to show her true path, one that led her to a meeting with Charles VII, a French monarch struggling to prevent an English advance.

At just seventeen years old, Joan impressed upon her King that she had come to raise the siege of Orléans. Her message was well-met. She soon received her armour, banner, and sword and set off to Orléans with her forces. Her unfaltering faith instilled a sense of morale in the French army that had been severely lacking. She acted as a figurehead rather than a soldier, and never slew anyone in battle.

Declaring that she had been sent by God and bolstered by her unwavering belief, she

led the French army to a momentous victory at Orléans in 1429 that repelled the English and marked the beginning of the end for their hopes of conquest.

Joan continued her fearless leadership of France’s armies until May 23, 1430, when an attack on a Burgundian camp at Margny ended in defeat and Joan’s capture. She was subsequently put on trial for heresy and sentenced to death. Joan of Arc was burned at the stake on May 30, 1431, but her brave legacy lives on to this day. She was canonised by Pope Benedict XV in 1920 and is remembered as a visionary, and a true symbol of virtue.

In Conqueror’s Blade: Paragons, the kingdom of Pays-de-la-Gloire are also facing overwhelming opposition from the Loegrians, but a divine light is shining through to lead their people—Gabrielle-Mäelys. Known as the Maid of the Holy Vision, Gabrielle-Mäelys was born to a poor family of sheep-herders and received several mystical visions that enlightened her to the Loegrians’ plans. Word spread of her fantastical divination talents, and soon this young woman is destined to lead a company of knights to defeat the Loegrian army at La Grande Gloire, revitalise the Royal Army, and drive Loegria from the mainland forever.

Let Joan and Gabrielle-Mäelys inspire you on your journey to victory when Conqueror’s Blade: Paragons launches as a free update on March 17.

Paragons Unit Spotlight: Alchemists

Three brand-new Seasonal Units are coming to Conqueror’s Blade: Paragons starting March 17, and the first available to unlock are as unique as they are useful: Alchemists (3-Star). To mark International Women’s Day, join us for a closer look at this all-female unit.

Historically, the field of alchemy isn’t wholly concerned with the school of healing, except for an off-shoot field of study known as spagyrics. This alchemical preparation of medicines originated in the 16th century and was spearheaded by the physician, alchemist, and philosopher Paracelsus. Combining nature and science, spagyrics are alchemically crafted to produce a highly potent medicine, perfect for quick fixes to troops on the front.

Alchemists are the second all-female unit in Conqueror’s Blade and a unique healing support class, and specialise in saving allies rather than fighting enemies. Armed with an encyclopedic knowledge of alchemy, these valiant women of the Spagyric Order of Mercy swoop in to tend to bleed allies and apply healing effects.

In this time of uncertainty in Pays-de-la-Gloire, the members of this medical institution have volunteered their expertise to bravely heal the wounded on the battlefield. With only small knives at their disposal to protect themselves from enemies, their alchemy can be handy in other ways, such as for laying down temporary smokescreens that block foes’ vision and apply debuffs.

Devote yourself to the cause by unlocking the Alchemists via new Unit Challenges when Conqueror’s Blade: Paragons launches on March 17!

Paragons Map Spotlight: La Grande Gloire (Siege)

As Loegria approaches the city of Aurelian, the people of Pays-de-la-Gloire must stand firm on the fronts of La Grande Gloire, or risk a terrible defeat.

Inspired by the Siege of Orléans (October 12, 1428 – May 8, 1429), where heroine Joan of Arc led the French army to victory, this new map challenges players on each side to use architecture to their advantage. When the English were at their strongest, Orléans was the key city that held symbolic significance of the power struggle between the two nations. Bridges were destroyed in order to reach the occupied city, and before fixes could be deployed, extra French troops arrived to storm into battle.

This new 15v15 Siege Map for Conqueror’s Blade: Paragons invites Warlords to defend or attack the city, where rebuilding or destroying bridges is critical to success for either side. These quick fixes also apply to artillery, which can be regenerated to destroy targets whether attacking or defending.

Check back soon for more information and a complete guide on how to defend and strike La Grande Gloire after Conqueror’s Blade: Paragons launches on March 17.

Server Transfer Applications Open on March 10!

Looking for a change of pace, or want to meet up with your friends on a different server? Server transfer applications will open on March 10!

You need to apply in-game before the Server Transfer takes place on March 17 to be eligible for a transfer. Each transfer costs 1,000 Sovereigns, and your character must have left their House or Cohort for the application to proceed. You cannot rejoin Houses or Cohorts or join new ones until the transfer is complete.

You should complete all transactions on the Resource Market, collect items from resource piles, and delist any items from the Market before the server transfer takes place. Listings, items, and resource piles will not be migrated to the new servers and will be lost if action is not taken.

On March 10 we will also be implementing a server migration. Anliang (EU6) will be merged into Crystal Sea (EU1).

For a full timetable and any answers to your questions, check out the server transfer FAQ. Please also join us in the Conqueror’s Blade Discord channel for any changes that may occur.
