Unit Guide: Azaps

Azaps were the second units to be released as part of Season IV: Blood of the Empire. While they aren’t the most heavily armoured troops, nor are they equipped with the most devastating attack, there are few better at leading and holding a position until heavier troops arrive.

Unlocking

As with all seasonal units, you must first earn the right to command Azaps by completing a series of challenges, divided across four stages. You will be able to command a unit of Azaps temporarily after completing Stage 1, which will become permanently yours after Stage 3 (along with any XP the unit may have earnt along the way).

Gameplay

Azaps should not be left to their own devices. They will be beaten back by stronger, heavier troops if you leave them to fend for themselves while you are galloping elsewhere across the battlefield. However, in the right situation they can be a powerful attacking force. The unit has a defensive buff when climbing ladders, for example, but it’s the 12% defensive boost that the unit gets when under orders that is the most powerful. Charging a position with Shield Rush, then holding it with On Watch and Counterstrike ensures that a unit of Azaps can punch above its weight for at least as long as it takes for the proverbial (or literal) cavalry to arrive.

Progression

Azaps have a maximum level of 20, which gives you up to 19 Veterancy Points towards maximising either your Counterstrike order (best used for pre-emptive charges into oncoming troops), or On Watch, (where your troops will actively attack nearby troops while holding position). In either case, you will be predominantly investing your VPs towards enhancing your troops’ survivability to balance the odds they will face.

Vote now for next season’s Ranked Battle reward

Do you have a favourite unit that could benefit from an exclusive new attire set?

The reason we ask is that we’re preparing the rewards for Season V’s Ranked Battles, one of which is going to be a brand new attire for a unit voted for by the community. You can make your selection via this link - but be sure to do so by August 26, when the votes will be counted!

We’ll announce the winning unit and show off its attractive new attire as Season V draws near. In the meantime, there’s still plenty of time to make yourself eligible to receive Season IV’s Ranked Battle rewards.

Defend the realm with a new Collector’s Pack!

Stalk the darkness to defend the light with the Ranger of the Realm Collector’s Pack! This special bundle is packed with in-game content, including Hero and Horse Attire, a 90-day Premium Account, 15 siege weapons, and a treasure trove of Silver.

The Liangyun Ranger Hero Attire is the garb of archers who patrol the shadows of their homeland’s borders, unseen to all but those who carry ill intentions. Though rarely sighted, these rangers are known to ride steeds clad in the imposing Immortal Horse Attire.

IMPORTANT: Attire for Heroes, Horses and Units in Conqueror’s Blade is purely cosmetic, and does not grant additional bonuses or advantages during gameplay. It just looks really, really cool.

Protect your domain from the shadows with the Ranger of the Realm Collector’s Pack today!

Ranked matchmaking begins August 7

Ranked Battles are coming to Conqueror’s Blade! Starting this Friday (August 7), they will run as a 4-hour event, replacing Free Battles, to return as additional 8-hour events on Saturdays and Sundays! Check out the updated event schedule for full timings on your preferred server!

Unlike regular matchmaking battles, from which you primarily earn Bronze and XP, ranked battles are all about creating a persistent record of where you sit alongside other heros. Your efforts will still reward you with experience and go towards fulfilling quest objectives (although you won’t receive any Bronze), but ranked matchmaking is primarily about establishing an evolving order of dominance.

It’s not just about bragging rights, of course. As well as ranks to ascend by earning points, there are weekly and season rewards to unlock - including a choice of units attires, so that your opponents will soon know who they are up against!

You can always check out your current rank by pressing J and selecting the Ranked Battle tab.

Cobra Commander’s Friday Knight Fights starts soon

Serial streamer and tournament host Cobra Commander is poised to head a new competition with cash prizes up for grabs. Starting August 14 and scheduled to run across five consecutive Fridays, Friday Knight Fights will see teams joining the Tournament Server and fighting in an intense Siege battle league, with the best going through to an elimination round on Friday, September 18.

Interested parties are invited to sign up via email and should conduct all tournament related communication via Discord. The battles will be streamed live by Cobra Commander, in association with a new guest host each week.

Cobra Commander famously raised $1000 in prize funding for his Duel Tournament back in May and hopes to do the same again for this latest prize pool. There’ll also be Sovereigns and Premium Account time for the best teams during the tournament, as well as at the conclusion!

Our thanks go to Cobra Commander for organising and hosting the Friday Knight Fights league, and to those taking part - good luck!
