Colosseum: User Interface Improvements

Throughout more than three years since the launch of Conqueror's Blade, we've worked hard to add more and more content to the game, which naturally means that many in-game systems and menus have grown more complex. The in-game menus weren't initially designed for the game's current complexity, which can make them difficult to read and use at times.

To tackle this issue head-on, we're making a series of UI optimisations to improve the visuals and user experience, with the first of these improvements going live with the launch of the free Conqueror’s Blade: Colosseum update on September 1. This first update will focus on the most frequently used menus: Events [O], Matchmaking [J] and the Weekly Season Lores.
Event Menu [O]
The new menu will feature a flatter design to cover the whole screen so that each segment has more space. We've also made changes to the layout and interaction logic so that events and news are available in a more transparent manner.

This also means that information will load faster, making it possible to quickly read what you need to know, and allowing faster interaction with in-game events.
Matchmaking Menu [J]
As a core system of the game, the original Matchmaking menu had a lot of room for optimisation. We've reorganised game modes into clearer types to ensure all players can easily join battles.

We've also added a journal for limited-time events so that you can more easily see which events are available for the day or the week. We've also added Ranked Battles to its own menu so the rank rules and heroes’ rank will be more readily available.
Weekly Seasonal Lore
The original design of the Weekly Challenges menu didn’t meet our expectations, and very few players had been checking the weekly lore updates. We'll be changing the main page of the Season menu when Colosseum launches, with additional voiced narration, story images, and new challenges appearing here each week. This should make it easier to keep up-to-date with the story of the current Season while you're busy with your own adventures!

We want to improve the visuals of the UI and the experience of interacting with it over time with a series of further optimisations. As always, your feedback is incredibly important to us, so please feel free to share your ideas via Discord!

Colosseum Unit Spotlight: Dimachaeri

Three new Seasonal Units inspired by Ancient Roman gladiators are coming to Conqueror’s Blade: Colosseum when the new update launches on September 1. We’ve met the agile yet deadly Retiarii, the born-and-bred fighters of the Myrmillones, and now it’s time to come face to face with the first set of fighters who will enter the Colosseum: Dimachaeri (3-Star).

The Ancient Roman gladiator known as the Dimachaerus was notable for his barbarian-esque appearance and fighting style. Armed with two swords and only light armour as protection from the horrors of gladiator combat, the Dimachaeri still demonstrated superior skills in the arena. Equipped for close-combat fighting, these gladiators adapted to both attacking and defending with their swords, as they did not carry shields.

Lured by fame or simply driven by desperation, the Dimachaeri in Conqueror’s Blade are a staple of the Colosseum. These nameless gladiators are as mysterious as they are powerful, wielding two swords, one a simple blade, and the other a ‘siccae’ or curved sword, capable of ignoring enemy blocking and able to tear shields aside.

Their combat techniques also enable them to raise their damage potential for a short time, as well as utilising back-stepping after every strike to prevent the enemy from hitting them.

Add the Dimachaeri to your ranks by completing new Unit Challenges in Conqueror’s Blade: Colosseum on September 1.

COLOSSEUM MODE: THE BASICS

This PvP mode will be available throughout the Season, pitting 6v6 against each other in fierce gladiatorial battles. Fight other players and deploy Units and artillery to drain enemy teams’ points, capture their flags, and win the fight. Along with an announcer, a cheering crowd cries out for entertainment as the realm’s greatest fighters battle for victory over their competitors.

Here’s the important stuff:
 • Colosseum Mode is available to players Level 30 and higher
 • Groups of up to three players can participate
 • Units brought into battle are not affected by Seasonal Seals
 • Cavalry Units cannot be used
 • Each player may deploy one piece of artillery
 • Each player only has two respawns
 • There is a single neutral Supply Point in the centre of the map
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT: HOW TO WIN

Winning in the Colosseum relies on both points and capturing the flag. Secure victory by reading up on the rules of engagement:
 • Both teams begin with 500 points
 • The team that drops to zero points first loses the match
 • Battles last for ten minutes, at which time the team with the highest point score wins (if neither has dropped to zero points)
 • Capturing the flag will reduce enemy teams’ points, but the capture zone will shrink as time goes on

REINFORCEMENTS

Defeating Gladiators will grant you extra Units which can be immediately summoned, called at the supply point, or available when you respawn. The extra units available are:
 • Falconetti Gunners
 • Iron Reapers
 • Modao Battalion
 • Pavise Crossbowmen
 • Shieldmaidens

Cut down the Gladiator Champion and the rest of the NPC Gladiators will then join your side. Use them to capture flags and supply points!

As the melee draws on, Infantry and Cavalry Units will enter the Colosseum. Watch out, as they will deal high amounts of damage and replenish their numbers as they defeat enemies. The extra Units granted for dispatching these foes are:

 • Imperial Pike Guards
 • Grayhair Garrison
 • Axe Raiders
 • Claymores
 • Berserkers
 • Liao's Rangers
 • Kheshigs
 • Winged Hussars

Experience the phenomenon of the Colosseum when the new Season launches on September 1. For those who are about to fight, we salute you!
