Anniversary Update - Available Now!

[p]Hello Talisman fans! :TalProToad:[/p][p]Today, we’re celebrating the 1 year anniversary of us launching Talisman: Digital 5th Edition on Steam with the launch of the Anniversary Update![/p][p]Since we originally launched Talisman: Digital 5th Edition, our team have been keeping a close eye on your feedback, reviews and all the comments you’ve been leaving for us and online. Based on that feedback, we’ve worked on some previous quality-of-life updates already, but we thought it made sense to celebrate a year of support with a bumper update full of community-requested features![/p][p]So, let’s dive into all the different features of the Anniversary Update, available now on Steam![/p][hr][/hr][p]AUTO END TURN[/p][p]This was a popular request, and is the headlining quality-of-life feature in this update! We've added a new option to automatically end your turn if you have no other actions left to take.[/p][p]This setting will specifically make it so that you no longer have to confirm that you want to end your turn if you finish a turn without the ability to do anything. In online games, this is a per-player setting, so you can use it even if the host and other players don't![/p][p]We’ve done lots of testing and playing using this new feature over the past month, and the amount this speeds up and streamlines the Talisman playing experience is massive - so make sure you give it a go.[/p][p]CAMERA CHANGES[/p][p]We've done a major pass on the game camera to make it smarter, smoother, and more responsive too.[/p]
  • [p]We've implemented a new camera animation system that feels better to use.[/p]
  • [p]The Auto-Camera will now wait until after you've selected a space to move to before it starts following your character.[/p]
  • [p]Clicking on the board is now more responsive. The game will no longer pause to check if you're double-clicking when you don't have a choice to make.[/p]
  • [p]We've made the board navigation icon easier to see.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed several controller-related zoom and navigation issues.[/p]
  • [p]We’ve squashed bugs related to odd camera movement when holding the mouse button and fixed zoom issues on 4:3 monitors.[/p]
[p]GRAPHICS CHANGES[/p]
  • [p]Enabled multi-threaded rendering for smoother performance and a more stable framerate.[/p]
  • [p]Cards are now brighter and easier to read.[/p]
  • [p]Optimized the "skydome" (the background for the game) textures to improve performance.[/p]
[p]ADDED FUNCTIONALITY AND OTHER QOL THINGS[/p]
  • [p]The AI now plays with more defined "goals," making it a more challenging opponent overall.[/p]
  • [p]In online games, other players (not just the host) can now also provide Endings for the game if they own the associated expansion for the ending.[/p]
  • [p]We've added a "Resume Game" button to the save game menu. When you select a save, this button is highlighted, making it faster to jump back in and easier to navigate your saves using a controller.[/p]
  • [p]We’ve made it easier to navigate the House Rules menu using a controller too.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug where a revealed Hidden Ending would become hidden again after loading a saved game.[/p]
  • [p]The game will no longer save your "preferred game" settings from an online match unless you were the host - so joining an online game will not mean you need to re-adjust your game setup settings![/p]
  • [p]Improved the highlighting and selection in the custom decks list.[/p]
[p]Alongside all these exciting updates, the Anniversary Update also fixes and improves the following:[/p]
  • [p]Crashes: Fixed several game crashes, including potential crashes when resuming an online game, using the Treasure Map, or clicking on the board when no choices are available.[/p]
  • [p]Login: Addressed an issue that could prevent some players from signing in to their Nomad Account.[/p]
  • [p]Controllers: Made several improvements for controller navigation, such as highlighting the correct "Select" button after choosing a character or highlighting the board (instead of "Spend Fate") after rolling to move.[/p]
[p]Character & Card Fixes[/p]
  • [p]The Druid can no longer change their alignment before the first turn of the game.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed issues with some "destroy Spirit" abilities and the Lich.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented players from rolling for Acquisition.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug where Warlock Quests and the Crown and Sceptre had the wrong ending types.[/p]
[p]UI & Text Fixes[/p]
  • [p]The game log will now correctly stay at the bottom (to show new messages) if you're already scrolled to the end.[/p]
  • [p]Corrected an issue where the background image in the main menu could disappear after quitting a game.[/p]
  • [p]The "My Collection" page no longer repeats cards in the deck browser.[/p]
  • [p]The "Re-roll" button for traditional dice now uses the correct icon.[/p]
  • [p]Removed the small "Arrow" button for minimizing choices, which was causing confusion.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed various other text display and card highlighting issues.[/p]
[hr][/hr][p]We hope you all enjoy this new update to Talisman: Digital 5th Edition, and that you're ready for the upcoming launch of The City Classic too![/p][p]To stay tuned for more updates, make sure you follow our small studio everywhere we are online, and follow Talisman: Digital 5th Edition here on Steam for direct updates as soon as we post them.[/p][p]Thank you again for an amazing year of support, and may all your dice rolls be in your favour! 🎲[/p]

Nomad Games October 2025 Round-Up!

[p]Hello, adventurers! ːTalProToadː ːBlueTalismanː[/p][p]The nights are drawing in, the air has a distinct chill, and there’s a definite feeling of magic (and maybe a little mischief) all around. Here at Nomad, October has been another month of focusing on Talisman, both 5th Edition and Classic. There exciting new developments, and, as always, incredible moments shared with you, our community.[/p][p]So, grab a pumpkin-spiced potion from the tavern, get comfortable, and let’s take a look back at a truly memorable October![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]We are ecstatic to announce that in October, we officially launched the closed beta for the first corner expansion for Talisman: Digital 5th Edition: a remaster of the fan-favourite 4th Edition expansion, The City![/p][p]For those who never had the chance to visit, The City is a bustling, high-risk, high-reward region that adds a supplementary game board to your quest for the Crown of Command. It’s a place of immense opportunity and equally great peril. Within its walls, you can visit a host of unique shops to spend your hard-earned gold, including:  [/p]
  • [p]The Armoury, for powerful new weapons and armour.[/p]
  • [p]The Magic Emporium, for potent spells and enchanted objects.[/p]
  • [p]The Pet Shop, where you can acquire exotic followers to aid you on your quest.[/p]
  • [p]The Potion Shop, offering a range of magical concoctions with powerful, and sometimes unexpected, effects.[/p]
[p]But commerce isn't the only thing driving this metropolis. At the City Gate, you can pick up Wanted Posters, taking on bounties to hunt down specific creatures across the land for a handsome gold reward. Navigating the City itself is a strategic challenge, with one-way streets forcing you to plan your path carefully to reach your destination.[/p][p]Launching The City first into a closed beta was a deliberate choice on our part - with this being such a fan-favourite expansion, we wanted to make sure that some of the first people to try it were among the most dedicated Talisman fans. They are also the group who know the rules for both 4th and 5th Edition better than everyone, so they’re quick to notice things not working quite as they should be when it happens! Their feedback so far has been invaluable, and this collaborative process ensures the final product is as polished and faithful to the original expansion as possible.[/p][p]Choosing to remaster a beloved classic like The City for our next 5th Edition expansion is something we hope the wider Talisman community are excited for too. We want to keep showing our deep respect for the game's legacy and our commitment to bringing the best of Talisman's history into its future, with your help![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]While our focus is firmly on the future with Talisman: Digital 5th Edition, we know that the classic 4th Edition experience holds a special place in the hearts of many adventurers. We want to reassure our long-time players that we remain deeply committed to Talisman: Digital Classic Edition, and October was a busy month for our team in supporting this beloved classic.[/p][p]In October, we rolled out a couple of important patches based directly on player reports and our own monitoring. First up, was a patch that introduced a range of performance improvements and bug fixes, both improving how Talisman: Digital Classic Edition[/p][p] performs and handles things like saving games, but also ironing out some community-reported bugs too. You can read the full patch notes here on Steam: [dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]Then on October 13th, we released a small but crucial patch that made some behind-the-scenes adjustments to the Nomad Account system. Some of our recent updates had knocked things out of alignment, and this fix ensures that player statistics were once again being tracked correctly, so your hard-earned victories and character progression are properly recorded.  [/p][p]We also addressed a more disruptive issue that some players were experiencing later in October. Thanks to reports from the community both directly and on the Steam forums, we were able to identify and fix a crash that was occurring for some players during character selection at the start of a game. Getting you into your adventure smoothly is our top priority, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped us pinpoint these problems![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]As ever, the most exciting things happening with our games are the things you, the players, are doing with them. October was another incredible month for community-led events and content.[/p][p]We’ve seen so many of you embarking on your own quests for the Crown of Command in both Talisman: Digital Classic Edition and Talisman: Digital 5th Edition, and exciting things have been happening with the physical game too, as the first players started showing off the new Nemesis: Call of the Hunt expansion in October too.[/p][p]Check out some of our favourite highlights from October:[/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]If you’ve ever thought about streaming your own Talisman adventures, we wholeheartedly encourage you to do it! Share your adventures with us on social media, and you might just see yourself featured in a future round-up.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Last time we sent out a studio round-up, we specifically put out a call for community questions, and you all didn’t disappoint! We’ve featured all of the questions we got in October below, so thank you to everyone who sent questions our way.[/p][p]From Kevin via Email[/p]
  • [p]“I play on the Nintendo Switch. I used to play with people on Steam. Is cross play still working?[/p]
[p]Right now, the Nintendo Switch version of Talisman: Digital Classic Edition is running on a slightly older version of the game, before the latest patches we released on Steam this October. Because it’s on an older version, they can’t play online with each other - because of the difference in how the newer version handles interactions and saves, things would quickly fall apart once the two different versions sent conflicting information to each other.[/p][p]For extra context, we’ve been releasing patches at quite a quick rate last month, and the approval/submission processes for Nintendo takes quite a bit of time to get through. For example, if we’d have submitted a new version of Talisman: Digital Classic Edition to Nintendo at the same time as we launched the first of our October updates, by the time it was released to users, the 2nd patch we released in October would already be out on Steam.[/p][p]So, instead of going through the process of submitting a new update to Nintendo, our plan is to roll all of the smaller updates we’ve done so far to Talisman: Digital Classic Edition lately into one bigger Nintendo Switch update, to bring it back in-line with the other platforms and re-enable crossplay.[/p][p]Sadly this does mean that there is a time window where cross-play between the Switch and other platforms doesn’t work, but it’s only temporary - and we know what we need to do to get it back and running again.[/p][p]We appreciate all the patience people have shown in the meantime![/p][p]From Philip Burton via Email[/p]
  • [p]“Will you be creating the 5th edition for iPad?[/p]
[p]That’s the plan! Once we’ve released the Xbox and PlayStation versions of Talisman: Digital 5th Edition onto the world, we’re going to be taking another step back to look at what we want to do next with 5th Edition.[/p][p]On our list of ‘official big things to do that are exciting with Talisman: Digital 5th Edition’ is a mobile port, but we’ve not put in a solid date for that yet. Once we have, we’ll let everyone know![/p][p]From Anthony Cogan via Email[/p]
  • [p]Couple of questions with regards to the Fate Beckons expansion. I have reached trial 4 now and enjoy seeing the card unlocks. Sadly I don't seem to have them available to use in the normal verses version of Talisman. In the physical board game certain revealed cards and spells can get added to the normal Talisman deck. Does this option happen when we complete the last trial on Fate Beckons? Can we have a facility to turn off the extra non-default characters for Talisman if we want to stick to a solid version of the board game. I.e Druid, Jester and Minstrel.[/p]
[p]Thanks for the questions Anthony![/p][p]First up, adding cards from Alliances back into the base game is something we looked at late during the development of the expansion digitally, however we realised that for the amount of development time it would take to implement the ability to do that would have delayed the launch of the expansion more than we’d be happy with.[/p][p]So, we ended up launching the expansion without this feature, but that doesn’t mean we can’t add it in the future! We’re constantly looking for ways to improve what already exists in Talisman: Digital 5th Edition, whether in the base game or in any DLC. So, we’ll add this request to our community request database that we’re constantly pulling from when we’re looking at what to work on next.[/p][p]For your second question, one of the community requests we’ve had and already noted has been for the ability to ‘veto’ or remove certain characters from the pool of available characters in a game, whether that be during character selection or when using random character assignment - so we’ll bump that request a bit higher up the priority list for you![/p][p]From GG's Sun via the Nomad Games Discord[/p]
  • [p]Hey, thanks for all the work so far on the digital 5e! I personally prefer and enjoy the new visuals, huds and menus. I wanted to ask how progress is on some form of ranking up and unlocks system. These have always been my favourite part of games since I was a kid, and it tends to keep me playing longer than I otherwise would and when trying new things! Aside from the obvious unlocking of player titles and icons, would it be possible to unlock different ‘skins’, or colour palettes for the characters in-game - perhaps even a rare shiny ‘metal’ miniature to use?[/p]
[p]Thanks for the question![/p][p]To answer this, it’d be best to give a bit of context as to how things have happened behind the scenes here at Nomad since the launch of Talisman: Digital 5th Edition.[/p][p]You see, before the launch of the game, we put out a roadmap for the game that explained what our future plans were, and one of the features of that roadmap was something called the Character Mastery Update. Our original plan was to bring this update out shortly after the base game was released, however due to a mixture of circumstances (such as needing to adjust our focus to bring up the review scores for the base game, the community demand for expansions to be added sooner and more) we had to put that specific update on the back-burner and adjust our original schedule.[/p][p]That doesn’t mean the update has been scrapped though - and from the kind of features you’re describing, we’re confident that the Character Mastery Update would fulfill all the desires you’re expressing you’d like to see added to Digital 5th Edition.[/p][p]So, for now, we appreciate your patience while we continue to make more Talisman: Digital 5th Edition updates, and hope you keep watching this space for the Character Mastery Update![/p][hr][/hr][p]And that’s the end of this month's studio update! Don’t forget, if you’ve got questions you want to ask the Nomad team, you can always send your questions to [email protected], or send us a message in one of the many places we're on the internet.[/p]

Nomad Games September 2025 Round-Up!

[p]14th October 2025[/p][p]NOMAD MONTHLY ROUND-UP - SEPTEMBER 2025[/p][p]Hello, adventurers![/p][p]Welcome to another monthly round-up from our team here at Nomad Games. In September we celebrated our games with an incredible sale, we celebrated our history with a discovery that took us right back to our roots, and most importantly, we celebrated our incredible community.[/p][p]Grab a warm drink, settle in, and let’s take a look back at a September to remember![/p][hr][/hr][p][/p][p]September was a fantastic month for anyone looking to expand their digital board game collection, as we held our very own Nomad Games Developer Sale on Steam.[/p][p]This wasn't just part of a platform-wide event; this was our own curated sale, a special thank you from our team to the community that supports us. We knew that the big Steam Autumn Sale was just around the corner, but we wanted to do something special just for our players first, so from September 15th through the 24th, we had offers across our entire catalogue.[/p][p]The highlight of the sale, and something we were incredibly excited to launch, was a set of brand-new bundles designed to offer the ultimate Talisman experience. We introduced two comprehensive bundles: one for the complete collection of Talisman: Digital Classic Edition and another for the complete collection of Talisman: Digital 5th Edition. This was a direct response to the many players who have asked for an easier way to grab everything they need for either the 4th or 5th Edition experiences. [/p][p]The Classic Edition bundle is a gateway to the rich history and sprawling content that has defined digital Talisman for years, and the 5th Edition bundle is your all-access pass to the future of Talisman. By offering these complete collections, we hope we've made it simpler than ever for both veteran players and curious newcomers to grab the entire legacy and future of Talisman in one go.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]In September, our team made great progress on the upcoming console ports of Talisman: Digital 5th Edition![/p][p]We progressed to the point where the Xbox and PlayStation versions of the game can start to get thoroughly tested by our QA team, meaning we can figure out where any issues have come up in the porting process and iron them out ahead of the full launch on console.[/p][p]We’re also bringing over all the DLC we’ve released so far on Steam to Xbox and PlayStation at launch, so on day 1 you’ll be able to pick up Alliances: Fate Beckons if you’ve been keenly waiting for it![/p][p]We’ll share more news and updates about these ports in October and November, but we wanted to keep you all updated and let you know we are making solid progress on the next version of Talisman on console.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]In the day-to-day hustle of making digital board games, interacting with you all, and planning for the future, it’s sometimes easy to lose track of just how long the road behind us has been.[/p][p]In September though, we got a very tangible, very unexpected reminder. During a bit of an office clear-out, tucked away in a long-forgotten box, we found this:[/p][p][/p][p]We’re choosing to ignore the fact all our founders look (ever so slightly) younger than they currently do, and focus on the fact that we’ve come so far since we started back in 2011![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Since its launch in November 2024, Talisman: Digital 5th Edition has been on an incredible journey of its own, and in September we took some time to take stock of how it’s progressed since that initial launch.[/p][p]Our goal with the new digital 5th Edition was never to change the soul of Talisman, but to create the most beautiful, engaging, and definitive way to experience it. And according to the experts, we’ve succeeded. Back when we first launched, the team at Digitally Downloaded praised our work on the game’s look and feel, stating that we’d “done a sparkling job with the presentation and aesthetics of this one. For that reason, it is the definitive version of Talisman out there”[/p][p]This is exactly what we aimed for—to be the gold standard for digital Talisman![/p][p]The praise didn’t stop there though. GameGrin awarded it an outstanding 9/10, celebrating the visual overhaul and crucial quality-of-life improvements. They noted, "Talisman: Digital 5th Edition breathes new life into this classic board game. The new art and animations are fantastic, without losing the signature style. With the less harsh events and streamlined rules, you may even finish a game in a session!". This gets to the heart of the 5th Edition philosophy: maintaining the classic game while making the experience smoother and more accessible.[/p][p]This positive sentiment is also reflected in our player base on Steam. While the game currently holds a "Mixed" rating overall, the recent trend tells a story of continuous improvement and growing satisfaction among the Talisman community. We’ve loudly and publicly discussed how we’re taking on your feedback and working to earn those positive reviews we want, like we discussed in our State of the Game Update.[/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]We’re continuing to keep a close eye on feedback and reviews for Talisman: Digital 5th Edition, and we’re going to continue to be transparent about the changes, improvements and updates we’re bringing to the game to get it up to the standard you’ve all come to expect.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]September was a blockbuster month for player-led events and content, so we wanted to shine a spotlight on two games that have been buzzing with community activity.[/p][p]The Hunt is On! The 2025 League of Dracula Has Begun[/p][p]The nights are growing longer, a chill is in the air, and across Europe, the hunt has begun once more. The community-ran 2025 League of Dracula for Fury of Dracula: Digital Edition kicked off on September 1st![/p][p]This is more than just a tournament; it's a test of wits and nerve, a digital embodiment of the classic gothic horror cat-and-mouse game. The league is run using a Swiss-style tournament system, ensuring that players are consistently matched against opponents of a similar skill level, making every game a tense and thrilling encounter.[/p][p]The league has already inspired some incredible content from some of the most dedicated Fury of Dracula players out there. To help you follow the action, we’ve compiled a list of just some of the amazing creators who are streaming, recording, and analyzing league games.[/p][p]Be sure to check them out, give them a follow, and support their fantastic work![/p][p]Taking Center Stage: The Talisman Streaming Community[/p][p]While the vampires are battling it out in the dark corners of Europe, the lands of Talisman have been lit up by the incredible creativity of our streaming community. [/p][p]We want to give a special shout-out to some of the awesome people who’ve been showing off Talisman: Digital 5th Edition in September, so check out the highlights below![/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]If you’ve ever thought about streaming your quest for the Crown of Command, do it! Share your adventures with us on social media, and you might just find yourself featured in a future spotlight.[/p][hr][/hr][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]In the last studio round-up we sent around, we had a whole heap of your community questions to pick apart and answer, which was great! Sadly, in September, all we got into our monthly mailbag was spam, adverts and people trying to sell us tickets to golfing events.[/p][p]So, in order to make Tom a little less sad when he’s opening up the monthly mailbag inbox, why not send in your questions about Talisman (or anything else) to [email protected]?[/p][p]And that’s the end of this month's studio update, so to keep up with everything from our small studio, including Talisman: Digital 5th Edition and our exciting future projects, make sure you follow us on all the places we are online![/p]
