• An anthropomorphic rabbit who has two hands and walks on two feet. As a gentleman, he never goes anywhere without his tailcoat.
  
• The all-seeing scribe,and a descendant of the third race that was swept away by the Vortex. They survived for a long time traveling the universe, adapting to new environments. Shylock has been giving information to humans ever since, small bits at a time to prevent chaos from erupting among them.

• Although he is not amazingly good looking, he is a charming young man who can be slick with words from time to time.
