Coming Up Next

Hello commander,

We hope you are well! First of all, we wanted to apologize for the lack of a DevBlog last week. The Eugen team has been hard at work on the World War III cousin of Steel Division 2, preparing for the latest major milestone for WARNO.

With that out of the way, we do have some interesting Steel Division 2 tidbits to share with you today.
Blood Feud in Transylvania
We are steadily advancing ever forwards with the next Steel Division 2 expansion, Blood Feud in Transylvania. As mentioned, we have been busy with WARNO, which influences our work on other projects. See the packaging of our new expansion as a Russian doll: we need to complete one step before being able to continue to the next one. This, at times, creates bottlenecks.

Such as?

 • We are working on the Army General campaign map. This needs to be finalized before we are able to record each faction’s briefing video. Likewise, the voice acting needs to be completed in order to align the sound and video briefings; and we need these briefings to be finished before we can integrate it into the game. One puzzle piece after another.
 • Once done, the Army General campaign needs to be thoroughly checked from start to finish, fixing issues and typos, see how each turn pans out, restarts, etc. All of this takes time.

But, we do have one piece of art to show off: the introduction video of Blood Feud in Transylvania is ready. Let us know what you think!
Siege of Dunkirk
Nemesis: Siege of Dunkirk DLC is also coming up. The 3D models to be featured in this mini-expansion are being worked on as we speak. The Czechoslovakian infantry has been finalized, and the French FFO (Forces Françaises de l’Ouest) are being mustered and are almost ready to be deployed.
Until next week!
That’s it for this DevBlog. One other thing before we leave: our talented Strike Team members will stream the first Blood Feud in Transylvania divisions later this week. Keep an eye out on our Discord if you want to check it!

It's Patch Day!

Hello commander,

Today is Patch Day! We teased it here, it is now live ...
It features a long awaited exploit fix, whole unit type's buff, and some love given to underperforming divisions.
Patchlog
The patchlog can be found here.

Why those changes? Here are some of the reasons:
ATR ambush
One exploit which was brought to our attention recently was the use of 2-man ATR teams, with fast transports, to lay ambush along the enemy's lines of communication in order to intercept its infantry reinforcements. A very legit strategy, yet with the current settings, a single ATR bullet would blow up a transport truck and kill an entire squad with it.
With the change brought today, a destroyed transport will only kill 4 of its passengers (meaning an entire half-squad in the case of a jeep), leaving the others suppressed but not all dead. Therefore, one can still lay an ATR ambush, but he better bring HMG or flamethrower to finish suppressing and routing the surviving enemy reinforcements!
Miscellaneous changes
• Assault engineers with one (not two!) flamethrower weren't deemed appealing enough in comparison with their brethen with TNT. Their price has been buffed over the board.
 • Since Nemesis: Raid on Drvar was released, we have been listening to feedbacks regarding the two new divisions, NOV & Unternehmen Rösselsprungs. Being regarded as too weak, we have buffed their slot prices.
 • Other divisions needed some love too, though. Especially Soviet ones, and in particular 3GvTK & Tyurina. The latter clearly lacks AA, it is actually one of its "trademark", yet we've added a limited 25mm AA gun card, while the former is given two cards of ISU-152 which he was due from the beginning, having a regiment attached during Bagration, as depicted in the Army General campaign.
 • The 15th Scots (and by extension one Soviet division) also got some improvement through cheaper Churchill tanks.
 • ... and more.
What about Turda?
As announced last week, we are still working hard on polishing Turda's campaign, which we hope we'll disclose more soon.
In the meantime, the Strike Team will soon be allowed to stream about the new upcoming divisions & units.

Blood Feud's Progress

Hello commander,

We hope you are well. As we mentioned in last week’s blog post, we had little to report, though the team was working hard on both the next expansion and Nemesis DLC for Steel Division 2. This week, we can give you a little more detail on what’s happening behind the scenes.

Steel Division 2: Blood Feud in Transylvania is coming along swimmingly. Let’s look at some proofs of life!
Building it up
A lot of effort has gone into getting the inner workings of Steel Division 2: Blood Feud in Transylvania up and running, but we are also putting the finishing touches on the visual and player-facing aspects of our next major expansion.

For instance, the text translations of all the game’s supported languages are being done as we speak. There is more.
The Battle of Turda
The expansion will ship with a brand-new Army General campaign: The Battle of Turda. The campaign map is being done, as can be viewed below:

It still remains to throughly test and polish the scenario.

Like our other Army General campaigns, we will also feature a new introduction video. This one is also finished, barring the voice-over and audio recording, which still needs to be done.
The new Oarba map
Blood Feud in Transylvania will also ship with the new Oarba map. Measuring 27km², Oarba is a 2vs2 map inspired by the actual Oarba de Mureș, which took place from September 17th to October 5th, 1944.

The map itself is done, yet still requiring thorough QA tests (checking that each road works as indentend, that each wood is indeed considered as such from a gameplay perspective, ...). Once done and tested with the default "Capture de Flag" mode, other game modes will have to be set.
Until next week!
Short and sweet, that’s it for this week. We’ll be back soon with a new DevBlog.

See you on the battlefield, commander!

All quiet… for now

Hello commander,

Once in a while we get to a week where there is… well… nothing much to report. And today’s post is one of those!

This doesn’t mean that we aren’t busy - far from it. As you know, we are hard at work on the next Steel Division 2 expansion: Blood Feud in Transylvania. Furthermore, we are also laying the groundwork for the future Nemesis: Siege of Dunkirk DLC.

Apart from this, our other game, WARNO just received a major update, BESSIERES, which took up most of our time lately, as well.
A short recap
In case you want to read up on the historical and unit backgrounds of our upcoming expansions and DLC, look no further!

Blood Feud in Transylvania
The next major Steel Division 2 expansion will focus on an often overlooked campaign on the Eastern Front fought between two former allies: Axis Hungary and recently turned Allied Romania. The setting: contested Transylvania. What will you be able to find in Steel Division: Blood Feud in Transylvania?

 • Six new divisions.
 • A new Army General campaign focussing on the first stages of combat in Transylvania as they happened from September 5th to 15th, 1944. It will be quite even, with the Hungarians having the edge during the opening moves, while the Romanians build up their forces until powerful enough to counter-attack and overwhelm their opponent later on. Read more about the Army General campaign in this blog post here.
 • One new map Oarba.
 • 2 Aces: the Hungarian tank commander Lieutenant Ervin Tarczay and Romanian fighter ace, Captain Dan Vizanti.

Nemesis: Siege of Dunkirk
The next mini-expansion, bringing two new divisions and associated units, is Nemesis: Siege of Dunkirk. This will be the sixth community-voted Nemesis DLC for Steel Division 2. We are already working on it concurrent to Blood Feud in Transylvania.

You’ll get to play with:
 • The Axis Festung Dünkirchen garrison battlegroup featuring the second-rate 26. Infanterie-Division, with remnants of Wehrmacht divisions retreating from Normandy, and local Kriegsmarine troops. The latter will represent disciplined Raider squads. Limited armor is available, with a pair of phase-locked Panzer IV and StuG, as well as a few Marders and a single Jagdpanther.
 • A good number of artillery and AA units can be deployed by this battlegroup, including Flak 20mm, Flak 88mm, and the heavy Flak 105mm, backed up by the new Flak 28(p) (captured Polish Bofors guns). Other guns include Flak 31M(r) (Soviet 85mm AA guns), K30(t) 76,5mm (Czech. vz.30) and K418(f) 155mm (French GPF) howitzers. Heavy off-map support from 164mm and 194mm pieces can also be brought to bear.
 • The Allied CIABG are Free Czech and Slovak forces, brought together in an armored battlegroup with little organic infantry. A smattering of local French troops back up the formation, including some former resistance fighters put under “official” arms. The Czechs (and the French) will reuse captured German equipment.
 • Support units include 17-pdr and 25-pdr artillery guns, Bofors AA and a recon squadron featuring Humber Scout Car and the unusual new Humberette Scout Car. Heavier guns are the Canadian heavy QF 3,7-inch (94mm) dual-purpose AA gun and the new heavy British (siege) howitzer BL 7.2-inch (182,5mm).
