WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition News

Update v2.0.3 Released with Five New Coats!

[p]Now that WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition has been out of Early Access for two weeks -- and as we announced then, we are raising the price today to $30 (US). We think that's a fair price for what the game offers. But to sweeten the deal, we're adding five more new wolf coats to the game. This is in addition to the five coats we added two weeks ago -- and like those, these are free coats, not DLC! These coats are not based on real wolves. Our wolf artist Steve Adamson asked if he could have some latitude to create just darned-pretty coats, and we think that he did exactly that! They're in the game update we've just released, version 2.0.3. [/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]In addition to bison herds and bighorn sheep and the Tower Fall DLC map, we are also now working on localizing (translating) the game into other languages. We've started by localizing the Steam store page -- those pages are going up this week -- before diving into the game itself. After reviewing a lot of data about game sales and wishlists and game-playing populations, we have selected nine languages: Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), French, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian and Spanish. We expect to release the update with these languages before the end of this year![/p][p][/p]
v2.0.3 - RELEASED 5 AUGUST 2025
[p][/p]
NEW:
[p]* Campfire Coats: Five new wolf coats in Wolf Customization -- not based on real-world wolves, just some nice new brown coats.[/p][p][/p]
IMPROVED:
[p]* Anti-Aliasing: Increased sharpening effect since it was quite subtle.[/p][p]* Greatly reduced rival wolf health regeneration rate when despawned.[/p][p][/p]
BUGS FIXED:
[p]* Wolves who were affected by the age 0 bug can age up more than one year on their birthday.[/p][p]* In certain circumstances, packmate courtship music does not stop playing when it should.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]

Patch v2.0.2b Released!
v2.0.2b - RELEASED 1 AUGUST 2025
[p][/p]
IMPROVEMENTS:
[p]* Emotes: When you remove an emote from the Favorites section, that spot now remains empty, to be filled by the next emote that you add to Favorites (so placement of other emotes does not shift).[/p][p]* Expanded coat bio for Y1T (provided by Tom Gable, Project Lead for Voyageurs Wolf Project).[/p][p]* Controller: When using joystick and getting into Head or Scent camera mode, tapping Head or Scent button now switches back to Normal mode.[/p][p]* Controller: More reliable detection of controllers when disabling one and enabling another.[/p][p]* If a pup reaches age 1, they will be playable in the Family Tree even if they die in the game.[/p][p]* Newborn fawn/calf icon is now hidden if Minimal HUD is selected. (Also, note that this icon is centered on the mother, because that's who wolves would notice. The newborn is hidden even from the omniscience of the game UI.)[/p][p]* Made packmates less likely to notice hidden calves and force a small delay before they attack.[/p][p]* When an adult packmate is deciding whether to eat a newborn calf carcass, use the same rules as with regurgitant.[/p][p]* When playing as a dispersed pup from previous player pack, former pack may stay on the map for quite a bit longer now.[/p][p]* Adjusted lighting on wolf face in badge so it's not overexposed.[/p][p]* When exiting Photo Mode, set HUD mode to the value it has upon entering Photo mode (hidden or not).[/p][p]* Expanded the range for nametags scale slider.[/p][p]* Enabled young/old coat toggle for any player-wolf.[/p][p][/p]
BUGS FIXED:
[p]* New hidden achievement is not hidden.[/p][p]* Opening Family Tree from Setup Up Saved Multiplayer Game with a wolf that was not the last played wolf messes up the Family Tree.[/p][p]* Family Tree is not updated if pups grow to yearlings during a Survive quest.[/p][p]* When one pup bites another's tail, the latter does not do the corresponding animation.[/p][p]* In very particular circumstances, Fight/Flee meters do not appear on invading rival wolves.[/p][p]* Snow appears on animals sometimes when it should not.[/p][p]* When starting a new game with an existing mate, the selected territory configuration shows several months of simulated change. [/p][p]* If a pup disperses immediately after a new quest begins, and the player chooses to play as that pup, the game doesn't fade back in after the transition.[/p][p]* Game stalls after pups are born due to since-fixed bug which set wolf age as zero. (So this fixes those save files.)[/p][p]* Don't show tutorial tip about Scavenger Hunt achievement when finding new Slough Creek collectible object.[/p][p]* Bloodlines achievement is not unlocked when it should be, when lineage was broken by a since-fixed bug. [/p][p]* Vegetation and terrain issues.[/p][p]* Various typos.[/p][p][/p]

Hotfix Patch v2.0.2a Released
v2.0.2a - RELEASED 22 JULY 2025
[p][/p]
HOTFIX (Windows only)
[p]* When using controller or Steam Deck, new Minnesota Browns coats are not selectable.[/p][p][/p]

WolfQuest Released Out of Early Access!

[p]WolfQuest is now out of Early Access! [/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][p]It's taken us awhile to get here, which raises the question: What does the "Anniversary" in the title refer to? [/p][p]* It was twenty years ago this summer that we started working on the idea of a wildlife simulation game about wolves. [/p][p]* It's been ten years since we were finishing up the first revival of the game, WolfQuest 2.7/Classic. [/p][p]* It was six years ago this week that we released the second revival of the game, the from-the-ground-up-remake, WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition, into Early Access. [/p][p]The game has grown a lot over these twenty years -- and most of that is over the past six years. The game is much bigger than it was then, so to better reflect the size and scope of the game now, what it offers players, we are RAISING THE PRICE to $30 (US). We think that's a fair price for what you get. But to avoid penalizing anyone who waited until now to buy the game, we are delaying that price increase for two weeks, until August 5th. [/p][p]To commemorate the game's release, we've released an update today with a couple new things. The biggest one is a set of FIVE NEW COATS! We realized there a paucity of medium-brown coats, so this new set is called Minnesota Browns. Four of these coats are based on Ambassador wolves at the International Wolf Center in Ely, Minnesota, and the fifth coat is based on Y1T, a wolf in Voyageurs National Park who has been captured on trailcams by the Voyageurs Wolf Project.[/p][p]Read the patch notes below for all the details. [/p][p]We are delighted to finally reach this milestone -- and we could not have done it (or come anywhere close) without the enthusiasm, devotion, and patience of our players. Thanks to everyone who has supported the game over all these years! And we're not done yet![/p][p] [/p]
v2.0.2 - RELEASED 22 JULY 2025
[p][/p]
NEW
[p]* A set of five new coats, called "Minnesota Browns."
