Routine server updates and maintenance.

[h3]DETAILS[/h3]This coming Wednesday, October 16th, the platform team will be taking the multiplayer servers down for regular maintenance. Please note:

Ranked matchmaking will disabled exactly one hour before the maintenance window to prevent disruption to newly-formed matches.

Any matches still in progress at the start of the maintenance window will be disrupted when it begins.

DURING THE MAINTENANCE WINDOW, YOU WILL STILL BE ABLE TO LAUNCH THE GAME, BUT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MATCHMAKE OR ACCESS ANY ONLINE FEATURES.

To prevent any interruptions, we recommend wrapping up any games at least 10 minutes before the maintenance window. The downtime is expected to last between 1 and 2 hours. You can watch this thread with any changes to the schedule as they arise, as well as the all-clear when the maintenance is complete.

Update: Age of Empires III: DE – DLC Delayed

In February we hosted the New Year New Age even which looked ahead to what was coming in the Age of Empires and Age of Mythology franchises. Part of the roster of announcements was revealing a new DLC for Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition, with a release date of the end of 2024.

With many active projects across the franchise, we’ll be pushing out the release for the DLC to a future date. This decision was not made lightly and is based on the bandwidth of the entire Age team across World’s Edge and our partner studios.

We understand that this will be disappointing for those of you who have been excitedly waiting for news.

We will however be releasing a new update for Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition. This will go live at 10am PT on October 24th and adds quality of life updates and balance changes.

A big thank you to all of you who continue to play Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition and its existing DLCs.

The original Age of Empires 3 has just been pulled offline, permanently

Almost 20 years since it first arrived on online stores, the original, base version of classic RTS game Age of Empires 3 is being delisted from sale, and the multiplayer servers are being pulled offline. Civilization 7 is on the way. Meanwhile, strategy newcomers like Ara History Untold and Manor Lords are keeping the genre alive on PC. But epochs pass, societies rise and fall, and the passage of history is unrelenting. If you own Age of Empires 3 and want to play it online for the final time, you still have the chance. But from the end of October, it will be gone for good.

Age of Empires III: (2007) - Multiplayer services ending October 30

From today, Age of Empires III (2007) will no longer be available for purchase. After many years of support, we will be retiring the title from sale. Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition will continue to be supported.

In addition, on October 30, 2024 at 10am PT multiplayer services for the game will cease to run. This is due to the technology no longer being supported.

If you own the game, you will still be able to play campaign and skirmish content. Online multiplayer is the only area of the game that will no longer be available.

Players can experience Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition on Steam and Windows Store, as well as 4 DLC additions which expand the civilizations and campaigns on offer. A free trial of the game is available on Steam for players who’d like to try the game before purchasing too!
