Time and time again, we've told you not to play Man of Medan alone. To show we're serious, we're giving away a free Friend's Pass to make sure you're not facing the ghost ship solo this holiday season.

A Friend’s Pass allows anyone who has purchased a copy of Man of Medan to invite a friend to complete a playthrough of the Shared Story mode for free. Your Friend’s Pass is a one-time-use key, so be sure to invite a friend that you can count on when the chips are down.

It's very easy to claim your Friend's Pass on Steam. If you own Man of Medan and have enabled automatic updates on Steam, you should already have a second instance of The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan installed.

This second application will allow you to easily grab your Friend’s Pass Invite Key and will also be used to play with the invitee of your choice. If you own Man of Medan and you don’t have this second Man of Medan application, just go into your library and it should be available to install manually.

But before we cover that, we also want to let you know that as of today, the Curator’s Cut play mode is now available for everyone who has completed at least one solo playthrough of Man of Medan! This unlock is free and it will be active forever!

The Curator’s Cut mode will allow you to play the solo game mode with alternative scenes and perspectives that can’t be found in the basic solo game. It’s our thanks to you for supporting The Dark Pictures Anthology!

And now, let’s go into the Friend’s Pass activation process. To get started, open the second version of The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan application. Then, from the following pop-up, copy the serial number and send it to the friend of your choice.


Your friend will then need to register the activation code on Steam.

Once your friend is registered and has downloaded and installed the Man of Medan application too, you can start the game.

From inside your game, select "Play," then "Shared Story," then invite your friend from the interface that pops up.



Your friend will need to start the Man of Medan application, click “Play,” then click "Play Game” when your invitation pops up in the Steam Client.

When you choose which character you want to play, the Shared Story will begin.

What happens next is up to the two of you.

You can claim your free Friend's Pass right away. Please note that the Friend’s Pass limited-time offer will end in early-to-mid January and only applies to customers who currently own Man of Medan or who purchase the game before this special promotion comes to an end.

We’re pleased to announce that a new patch has just been launched focusing on bug fixing and some performance improvements! Along with fixing many of your bug requests, this patch will correct some issues with framerate drops and stutters – plus we’ve also eliminated some game crashes.

Please continue to tell us if you run into other problems on the Ourang Medan – other than murderous pirates, ghosts, and the hazards that come from being trapped on a giant rotting battleship – those are all working as intended!

• Game no longer locks during the “Meetup” chapter when the user must choose between “Jump” and “Run” while playing in Shared Story Mode.
  
• Game no longer crashes if a user is invited to join Shared Story mode while on a “disconnected controller” message screen from within in the “Character and collections” interface.
  
• Replaced missing subtitles for Fliss and Julia during the “Dive” chapter in Shared Story Mode.
  
• Corrected Currator’s dialogue in his third cutscene so it no longer contradicts certain moral choices in Shared Story Mode.
  
• “Return to start” arrow at the end of comic book has been replaced.
  
• Character models no longer overlap on the Relationship/Trait menu during the “The End” chapter when in Movie Night/Solo Story Mode.
  

Removed framerate drop or stutter:

• When Conrad explains about the duration of the storm in the “Kidnap” chapter.
  
• During cutscenes between gameplay in the “Meetup” chapter.
  
• During cutscenes between gameplay in the “Glamor Girl” chapter.
  
• During the final QTE when Conrad climbs a ladder in the “Glamor Girl” chapter.
  
• While walking through the locker room in the “An Escape” chapter while in Solo Story Mode.
  
• While walking through the engine room in the “An Escape” chapter while in Solo Story Mode.
  
• When entering the first room during the “Distress Signal” chapter.
  
• While walking through the Kitchen in the “Caskets” chapter.
  
• During the QTE “Keep calm” in the “Trapped” chapter.
  

• Game will no longer lock the invited player’s game if the host plays the Shared Story Mode “Caskets” chapter as Joe.
  
• Game no longer locks if the player fails Julia’s initial stair-climbing QTE in Solo Mode during the “Meetup” chapter.
  
• Game no longer crashes if the player presses “R” during Conrad’s chase scene in the “Glamor Girl” level while playing in either Solo Story or Movie Night mode.
  
• Game no longer refuses keyboard or mouse input after alt-tabbing away from the program while in low resolution and fullscreen mode.
  
• Pictures and Secrets collected during gameplay now correctly update on the Achievements page.
  
• The “View Collectables” screen no longer blocks keyboard input.
  
• Left mouse button is now correctly highlighted when swiping through the pictures from the Divecam.
  
• Pressing “R” during the chase scene in the chapter “Glamor Girl” no longer returns the player to the title screen when in Movie Night/Solo Story Mode.
  

Removed framerate drop or stutter:

• When entering the Radio room during the chapter “Distress Signal.”
  
• When Brad drops down the gantry in the “Olson” chapter.
