To all adventurers!
Today we're thrilled to share with you some insight into the universe of Dark Envoy. Our game tells the story of two siblings, Malakai and Kaela, born and raised in Jäan, an alternative dimension to the world from Tower of Time. Their world is inhabited by a variety of races, of which the youngest one, humans, appeared here quite recently…
Because of their abrupt arrival, humans were always considered different from the other inhabitants. Humans weren't ostracized per se, but the "younger siblings" treatment everyone gave them shaped their worldview and their desire for independence. This divide was the catalyst for the conflict between the League, which represents the allied forces of old, and the human Empire.
What also contributed to the rift between the factions was their attitude towards magic. The magical abilities of humans were inferior to those of the old inhabitants of Jäan. This became a principle by which the newcomers were judged. To make up for that lack of potential, humans turned to technology. Their inventions quickly started to rival magic, which greatly worried the former hegemons. Their magic now had competition.
