Operative Profile - Striker
Greetings Operatives!
Welcome back to another Operative Profile, our series of articles exploring the weapons, skills and abilities of the operatives you'll be playing as in Lemnis Gate. We will also be discussing some of the lore and backstory that have guided their lives up to this point, and maybe even diving into some of their likes and dislikes. The team is made up of highly trained, highly specialized individuals, from soldiers to scientists, that have been brought together by Lemnis Industries to help save humanity from utter extinction.
Meet Julio Cruz, a.k.a. Striker, the team's meticulous marksman who removes his targets from the battlefield with lethal and pinpoint accuracy. This former assassin has some skeletons in his closet, but is hoping to redeem himself.

Striker was born in Puerto Cabezas in Nicaragua, and discovered at an early age that he possessed incredible marksmanship abilities. His aim with any type of projectile was excellent and he would often use his talents to play pranks on both friends and strangers.
As an adult, he would eventually turn his ability towards darker pursuits. Realising he could use his expert marksmanship skills to earn vast sums of money, Cruz entered the clandestine world of assassination and quickly became a top level hired gun. He would command millions of dollars per hit, but was eventually caught during the one job he chose to do for free: assassinating a foreign dictator guilty of countless war crimes. With humanity's potential extinction looming, and a recent pardon for his crimes, Cruz is hoping to redeem himself by saving the world.

Striker's main weapon is the Zero-Drop Rifle, a high powered long-range gun that fires dense projectiles at great speed. The rifle's scope helps Striker maintain greater focus on his target, letting him pick off any target with pinpoint accuracy. He boasts that he actually doesn't need it, claiming to be able to hit a target from space if he had a weapon powerful enough, but he hasn't been able to prove it... Yet!
After testing Cruz' marksmanship, Lemnis Industries' scientists discovered the secret behind his excellent aim. By selectively activating his body's fight or flight response, Striker can heighten his senses, improve his reaction speeds, and alter his perception of time. For a few brief seconds, everything seems to move incredibly slowly, and he can easily pick his targets and take them out. Through combat training with Kapitan, Striker has been able to hone this Ripple ability further, making him an even more lethal combatant in the field.

As you've probably guessed by now, Striker's main role on the team is as a long-range, high damage dealing sniper. By combining his main weapon and Ripple ability you can quickly take control of the battlefield by removing enemy combatants from the loop.
Given his highly specialized role as a damage dealer, we recommend keeping Striker on standby until midway to late in the match. Deploying him in the first round is an unconventional strategy, but it could pay off if you're able to predict your enemy's location. You can fire off a few shots where you think the enemy will be in subsequent rounds, causing them to change their own strategy or removing them from the loop entirely. If enemy operatives have control of the battle in later rounds, using Striker to remove them from the timeline can let you quickly regain control.
Before deployment it's highly important to find the map's best vantage point to use as a sniping area. This will depend on the map, of course, but we recommend anywhere high up that offers an unobstructed view of the battlefield. For a map like Quarry, any of the walkways or roofs should work fine. Maps like The Arbor have fewer high vantage points, so your best bet might be the far end of the two lanes, near the spawn points or finding a view of the objective where you anticipate the opponent heading to.
Striker's role as sniper makes him a great asset to any team, but also a high-value target. Make sure you have contingency plans that allow you to keep him protected from counter attacks, and try to avoid setting up a sniping position where you can be ambushed or flanked. Covering him with Karl's Protection Orb is a good way to keep him safe from harm, at least for a little while.
Whether it's picking off stragglers at the end of a turn, or taking out a controlling operative to restore your own team, there are multiple ways to utilize Striker's particular set of skills. How would you dominate from a distance with Striker? Let us know in the comments below!
We'll continue to share more about the other operatives in this series over the coming months so we look forward to seeing you there.
