ZED Sunset Announcement

Dear ZED Community,

We wanted to share an important update about ZED’s future.

Our studio, From Away Games, recently acquired the rights to ZED. This was a meaningful step for us, as we remain deeply inspired by the game’s emotional story, its beautiful world, and the vision of our cofounder Chuck Carter, the original creator. We also have a future vision for where we hope to take the story from here.

However, we are a small independent team without the resources to maintain or update the version of ZED last updated in 2019. After careful consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to sunset ZED in its current form.

As part of this process, ZED has been removed from sale on digital storefronts, which will soon include Steam. Existing owners will continue to have full access to download and play the game.

We sincerely thank everyone who has supported ZED over the years. It is a work that touched many people, and we are honored to help preserve its legacy.

If you have any questions or encounter any issues accessing your copy of ZED, please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected].

Thank you again for being part of the original ZED journey.

We look forward to sharing what’s next when the time comes.

— The From Away Games Team

Mac OS X version now available for ZED!

Great news, Mac users - ZED is now available for Mac!

ZED is a unique and compelling narrative experience on Desktop PC or VR. Journey through surreal landscapes spanning one man’s life and career, as you learn about his desperate quest to reconnect fading memories and create a final work for a special person. Poignant, touching and impactful, ZED lingers with you long after you finish the story.

A message from Chuck Carter:

I'd like to announce the Mac version of ZED. Being a very long-time user of Apple computers (1985), I wanted to say that this version is very special to me. In fact a lot of ZED was modeled on my Mac Pro and built in part with Unreal Macintosh. Being able to let our Mac audience play the game on their Apple computers was one of the things I felt was very important during the development of the game. So I hope you enjoy it, and if you like it - please leave us a review. (but only if you like it! ;0) ). Thank you for playing ZED and for playing it on your Macs!
