About 2.0 Update (3 / 3)
It's time to share our third and final dev note for 2.0 update.
Today, we'll introduce the new content and changes prepared for the 2.0 update.
1. Graphic Modifications
We've processed renewal of the graphic elements without compromising the proven usability and the familiar user experience of our players.
■ Mouse Input Support
This major update brings support for mouse input. It required a review and modification of elements on every screen, and was developed over a long term with the goal of not compromising the operation experience already familiar with keyboard/gamepad users. This is probably one of the most requested features during our live service.
■ Navigation Menu
A navigation menu has been added to facilitate ease of movement between contents. You can call up the menu by pressing the ‘ESC’ key to directly move to a different mode or use other additional functions, and the existing back operation is also available.
■ Divison of System Setting Window Categories
With the increase of features over long-term service, the system setting items have become lengthy and are now categorized into [DISPLAY], [GAME], [SOUND], [CONTROL] for easier navigation.
■ Multiple Rewards Acquisition Popup
The rewards acquisition, which was previously displayed in small sizes at the top right making it difficult to see, has been revamped. Now, the rewards acquired are compiled and shown in a list for easier review at once.

※ The top right notification will only appear when a new mission is unlocked or an ACHIEVEMENT in COLLECTION mode has been achieved.
■ Guide Pages Improvement
Guide pages have been improved to quickly find the necessary information.
■ Title Screen Change
A new design title screen for 2.0 has been applied.
2. REWIND Feature
If an unintended mistake occurs while playing a game, you can immediately use the REWIND feature to retry that specific section.
■ How to Use
REWIND can only be used in Freestyle and during practice in Ladder Matches. When REWIND is available, a green notification indicator will light up at the top of the screen, and by default, you can activate it by pressing the 'BACKSPACE' key.

You can freely change the key used for REWIND in the key settings screen within system settings.
■ Effects
Upon pressing the REWIND key, you'll revert to a state a certain time prior. This also includes reverting many in-game details such as SCORE, RATE, COMBO that the player was recording.
■ REWIND SUPPORT
This feature is intended as an auxiliary tool to support player development and is hoped to be utilized as a device for practice.
Therefore, if there is a history of using REWIND during gameplay, 100,000 points from the SCORE and 10% from the RATE will be deducted from the final record. Additionally, accomplishments of MAX COMBO and PERFECT PLAY will not be recognized.
3. DJMAX SHOP

■ PLAY POINT
You can earn PLAY POINTS by playing songs in FREE STYLE, ONLINE MODE, and MISSION. The amount of PLAY POINTS that can be obtained at one time varies by mode, and a daily maximum cap on PLAY POINTS has been set to prevent excessive disparities. Additionally, PLAY POINTS will be awarded as a reward for using various contents.
■ ROCKY POINT
ROCKY POINT is a premium currency that can be purchased in the DJMAX SHOP using a Steam wallet.
■ Products
The main items for sale are from past CLEAR PASS seasons. The NORMAL ITEM tab contains CLEAR PASS FREE items, which can be purchased with PLAY POINTS. The PREMIUM ITEM tab contains CLEAR PASS PREMIUM items, which can be purchased with ROCKY POINTS. In both ITEM tabs, four items appear at a time, and the next items are displayed after a certain period. At this time, items not already owned by the player are prioritized for display.
■ Exchange Products
In the EXCHANGE tab, you can purchase exchange vouchers for physical goods given as season rewards. Previously, there was no way to receive acrylic rewards unless you were within the top 100 in the ladder or included in the 100 randomly drawn. To improve this, PLAY POINTS are awarded as ladder match season rewards, which can then be accumulated to exchange for physical season prizes. Purchased vouchers can be ordered directly through the DJMAX STORE. With these changes, from season 12 onwards, applications for ladder season rewards will no longer proceed.

We plan to enrich the DJMAX SHOP with even more products in the future, so please stay tuned.
4. Enhancement of My Info
The My Info section, which previously only allowed users to see a limited amount of information such as DJ ICON, nickname, level, and plate, is getting upgraded. The new My Info screen, provided in card format, will not only display existing information but will also show DJ CLASS scores and LADDER MATCH class information.

As of the 2.0 update, the profile image displayed on the right side of the profile screen will be the same for all users. We are planning to develop a feature that will allow users to acquire and equip various images through multiple channels, so please look forward to it!

※ User profile photos registered on the platform will no longer be provided after the 2.0 update to prevent inappropriate content outside of the game and to standardize specifications across platforms.
5. Other Modifications

■ Integration with Steam Cloud
The method of saving game data will change from using local data to utilizing Steam Cloud. Now, game-related data will be preserved regardless of changes in location or environment.
■ Effector Function Changes
The note placement effector is separated from CHAOS and assigned to the second effector slot. The fever effector, which was in the second slot, is removed from the slot and moved to a separate setting at the top of EQUIPMENT, with the option changed to ON / OFF. (When ON is selected, it functions as automatic fever, similar to the existing AUTO X5.)
■ DJ LEVEL-UP Song Reward Balance Adjustment
The balance is adjusted so players can acquire and play DJ LEVEL UP reward songs faster. With each level increase, players will now gain multiple songs, aiming for quicker access. The content of the songs acquired remains the same, but now all LEVEL UP reward songs are obtained by DJ LEVEL 20.
■ Free Content Update
To celebrate the 2.0 update, we will update a free gear/note skin as well as a free emoticon.
Also, glory MAX ~ To the MaXimum ~BGA will be updated on 2.0 update.
6. Server Integration and New Ranking Board Announcement
Starting with 2.0 update, we plan to proceed with server integration between the XBOX and Steam platforms. During this process, a conversion of existing records will also be carried out following the rules below. (Details regarding the XBOX update will be announced separately later.)

 • Conversion of existing SCOREs based on the RATE to align with the new scoring system and reflect DJ POWER
 • Existing master rankings and music ranking boards will be preserved in a Hall of Fame for each platform and made viewable within the game [future update]

※ We have decided to make the above policy changes after additional internal discussions on the content introduced in Developer Notes 1/3.
※ Converting existing ranking boards based on RATE is not suitable for the new scoring system, and with the integration of platform servers, there will be many changes to the existing rankings. To allow players to view their rankings before the 2.0 update as it was, we plan to conduct a future update that includes adding a [Hall of Fame] ranking board in-game for your review.

We've reached the end of our 2.0 dev note spread across three episodes.
The continuous interest and feedback from our players are the driving forces that will help us grow into a better game.
There is a mix of feelings - regret for not being able to share more news, and a sense of relief about the long-prepared update finally coming to live. We are aiming the 2.0 update date to be May 16th, and we will continue try making improvements on new content, convenience, and optimization issues even after the 2.0 update. In addition to our regular live broadcasts, we will also strive to provide more topics of conversation like this.

We promise to always be the hardworking ROCKY STUDIO.

Thank you so much for reading this lengthy post.

Dev Note : About 2.0 Update (2 / 3)
Dev Note : About 2.0 Update (2 / 3)
Thank you for the significant interest and feedback shown after the posting of the first part of our Dev Note. As promised, we would like to inform you about the modifications in the Online Mode and the improvements made for convenience.
1. LADDER MATCH

■ ONE PICK System
We began developing this system with the thought that everyone might have at least one song they are confident in, as a measure to increase the accessibility of ladder matches. After receiving your tier placement, setting a song as your ONE PICK for each button mode means it will be reflected in one of the five songs selected after matching, though you won't be able to know which song your opponent has set as their ONE PICK. When multiple button modes are matched together, the song from the button mode designated as BEST by the player will have priority in appearing.
■ Practice System During Match Making
After receiving your tier placement, once you start match-making, a practice button becomes active, allowing you to practice. The practice song is selected from the songs within your current tier range, and the practice results are not recorded. If a match is found during practice play, the ladder match will begin immediately.
■ HARD / MAX Judgment Record Separation
We have addressed the inconvenience of having the records from HARD and MAX judgment games mixed with those from NORMAL judgment games.
Now, in ladder matches, records from HARD and MAX judgment games are recorded and displayed separately. Also, the activation status of HARD / MAX judgment is shown in the waiting screen and in-game.
■ Leaderboard Expansion to Top 200 and Addition of "My Rank" Tab
With fierce competition at the top, we have expanded the leaderboard from TOP100 to TOP200. Additionally, to improve visibility for not only the top players, we have added a "My Rank" tab.
The "My Rank" tab displays your rank among the overall rankings based on your tier position.
2. OPEN MATCH
Now, to prevent boredom while waiting for other players to join your OPEN MATCH room, you can play on your own in FREE MATCH mode.
Among the three play rules that make up the OPEN MATCH, the FREE MATCH mode is not competitive in nature, so the system has been changed to allow game play without necessarily waiting for an opponent or a colleague.
Thanks to a previous update, it's also possible to join a room where a game is already in progress. Therefore, if a player starts playing a game alone, other players can join in the middle and start playing together from the next song.
Additionally, we plan to continue improving the features of OPEN MATCHes even after the 2.0 update.
3. RANKING BOARD

■ New Rule Added to the Music Ranking Board
In the existing DJMAX RESPECT V music ranking, if there was a tie, the person who registered first was placed in a higher rank. This rule was perceived as potentially unfair to players under different circumstances. After consideration, a new rule has been added to the music ranking board following the 2.0 update: in the event of a tie, the person who registered most recently will be placed in the higher rank.

The music ranking board in version 2.0 will display rankings based on the new rule by default, and the display rule can be changed by pressing the SPACE BAR. The changeable rules are as follows:
 • TOP PLAYER: A new rule where, in the event of a tie, the most recently updated record is placed in the higher rank.
 • TOP SPEEDER: The original rule where, in the event of a tie, the person who registered first is placed in the higher rank.

Your ranking will now be displayed at the bottom of the ranking list regardless of the display rule. If the rank is 1,000 or above, it will be displayed as 999+.
■ Master Ranking Changed to DJ CLASS Ranking
The previously served Master Ranking will be changed to the DJ CLASS Ranking, as introduced in Episode 1 of the developer notes.
4. MAIN GAME

■ Penalty Added for Using PAUSE and then CONTINUE
We have recognized an unintended method of play being used in DJMAX RESPECT V that exploits the feature of pausing and then continuing the game. With the DJ CLASS system update in version 2.0, we determined this play method could lead to abnormal results on playing. Therefore, resuming a game after pausing will now add a penalty in scoring being applied to that song's play result.
■ Quick Restart Shortcut Added
A shortcut has been added to allow players to quickly restart a song from the beginning during gameplay. Pressing the F5 key during gameplay will instantly restart the song from the beginning without any additional steps.
■ Setting to Toggle Side Track Warning Display
We've recognized that the warning display before the appearance of side track notes can sometimes be a visual distraction for players. An option has been added to activate or deactivate this display. Within system settings, players can now choose whether or not to play the side track warning display. If deactivated, warnings will not be displayed even when side track exclusive notes appear.
■ Feature to Uniformly Change BGA Brightness Default Value
In the existing DJMAX RESPECT V, the BGA brightness setting was saved individually for each song, with the original brightness being the default. If a player had not manually changed the brightness, it would default to the original brightness. Now, within the system settings, players can set a common brightness level and also reset the brightness settings for each song to apply this new default value.

Thank you for reading our second dev note. Besides the content introduced in the text, various minor suggestions related to gameplay have been continuously accommodated in the update versions, so we ask for your continued interest.

In the last dev note which we update on May 7th, we plan to share a compilation of new features being implemented in the 2.0 update.
Thank you.

Dev Note : About 2.0 Update (1 / 3)
Dev Note : About 2.0 Update (1 / 3)
Hello, this is ROCKY STUDIO.
First, we would like to express our gratitude for your continuous support and enthusiasm for DJMAX RESPECT V.

As announced on January 25, 2024, our studio is in the process of preparing a major update for DJMAX RESPECT V. This update will introduce new content, along with improvements in convenience, play balancing adjustments, and many significant changes to present a new look.

Before proceeding with the update, we aim to alleviate some of your curiosity by sharing information about the upcoming changes over three installments. The first part of the major update we will discuss includes the introduction of a new DJ CLASS system and changes to the scoring system and fever system.
1. DJ CLASS
A common question among all players is, "How good am I?" Until now, DJMAX RESPECT V had primarily determined player skill through LADDER MATCHES. As such, there's been a demand for content that allows single players to assess their skills. With this in mind, the upcoming major update will address the practicality of MASTER SCORE and introduce a newly revised feature, the 'DJ CLASS' system. This system quantifies your play results, allowing you to quickly gauge your skill level and earn cool titles.

※ All screenshots are from the development version. The actual provided version may vary.

In FREESTYLE and ONLINE MODE, if you clear a song with a RATE of 90.00% or higher, you can earn 'DJ POWER.' You can gain more DJ POWER by clearing higher difficulty patterns with high RATES. (DJ POWER is awarded for different types of patterns, even for the same song.)

The DJ POWER accumulated through play is subjected to internal calculations, after which an appropriate DJ CLASS is assigned. As the amount of accumulated DJ POWER increases, your DJ CLASS will be upgraded to higher levels.

The DJ POWER scores applied to DJ CLASS are based on the top 30 play records of songs classified as 'NEW' from the latest updates and the top 70 play records of patterns classified as 'BASIC'. Songs falling under the 'NEW' category are regularly updated approximately every 6 months to coincide with the release of new regular DLC, and the previous 'NEW' scores are then reflected as 'BASIC'.

The songs that contribute to the DJ CLASS score can be found under the FREESTYLE mode > DJ POWER category or the COLLECTION mode > DJ CLASS tab.

DJ CLASS scores are calculated and accumulated separately for each button mode.

Through the DJ CLASS ranking, you can easily check where your position is and what the highest class is.

Let's all play hard and prove our CLASS!
2. Scoring System, Fever System
Along with the introduction of the DJ CLASS system, our development team has re-evaluated the current scoring system and the FEVER system. As a result, we found that the differential in acquiring scores through the use of the FEVER system's features conflicts with the original intention of DJ CLASS, which aims to facilitate fair competition. Thus, we've decided to implement changes to both the scoring system and the FEVER system.
The FEVER system, a core element of the DJMAX brand that significantly enhances gameplay pleasure, needed to be revised first to align with our goal of 'fair competition.' Consequently, after this update, using the FEVER system will no longer grant additional bonus scores; it will purely function to amplify combos.
Furthermore, the original scoring system, where the total score for all notes was capped at 350,000 points, has been revised to a maximum score of 1,000,000 points. This new scoring basis will be utilized for the operation of the DJ POWER and DJ CLASS systems.
While the individual records of players, such as pattern-specific RANK, RATE, SCORE, will not be reset and will be preserved, due to the changes in the scoring system described above, the song-specific leaderboards will be restarted based on the new 1,000,000 point system. Therefore, previously achieved records will no longer be displayed on the leaderboards.
Additionally, balance adjustments have been made to areas affected by the scoring system changes, such as the Mission Mode.

We believe that the greatest assets in music games are 'achievement' and 'competition.' Changing the scoring system always involves some of the most challenging considerations. Please understand that this change is made so all players can compete fairly from the same starting line, and we ask for your generous understanding.

In the next installment, we will discuss the revisions in ONLINE MODE. Particularly, the changes in LADDER MATCH will be a major focus, and we look forward to your expectations.

Thank you.
