V1.12 is LIVE! | Hero Reworks | New Map | Neon Renegades Battle Pass
[p]Hello, Champions![/p][p][/p][p]It’s almost V1.12, and we’re happy to say we’re SO BACK. V1.12: Neon Renegades arrives on Tuesday, February 24th, and it’s absolutely HUGE: from a brand-new Hero, N3ON, to kit changes across every single Hero, and even a new map coming to Labs for a limited-time playtest.[/p][p][/p][p]And that’s not all. There’s a lot waiting for you in this update - so without further ado, let’s dive into:[/p]
[/p][p]For the duration of Daybreak’s availability - one week starting February 24th - we’ll be posting daily feedback questions on both Discord and Reddit. We’ll also be running surveys, both in-game and externally. Each day will focus on something different, so we can gather well-rounded feedback across all the map’s most important elements.[/p][p]It’s more important than ever to jump in and share your thoughts. We can’t wait to hear what you think: after all, you should have your say on one of the biggest additions to Predecessor’s future.[/p][p]You can learn more about Daybreak in the dev blog here.[/p]
Ranked News
[p]With V1.12, we’re performing a ranked split. As always, you’ll receive an exclusive profile icon and banner corresponding to the highest rank you have achieved during the split. If you’ve won at least 15 ranked games during the split, you’ll also receive an exclusive Grim.exe skin, and a variant corresponding to the highest rank you achieved during the split starting from Gold Rank.[/p][p]There’s still time to grind, as the rewards are getting distributed next week, which means you can still challenge yourself to achieve the higher rank, or win the 15 matches in order to unlock the skin![/p][p][/p][p]
[/p][p][/p]
Ranked Placement Phase
[p]As of V1.12, a placement phase will be introduced to Ranked. Since this is a split update, all Ranked players will enter placements and must complete a set number of placement matches to receive a rank.[/p][p]The system is designed to quickly move you through the ranks and place you at an appropriate starting point for the split based on your placement performance. For this update, most players will need to play at least 5 placement games, though you may finish earlier depending on your results.[/p][p]
[/p][p][/p][p]Going forward, new players entering Ranked for the first time (and all players at the start of a new season) will be required to complete up to 10 placement games to be placed.[/p][p]Players must complete their placement matches before the end of the split to be eligible for Ranked rewards moving forward.[/p][p]
[/p]
Matchmaking on Rank and VP
[p]We’ve been hard at work making changes and improvements to the matchmaking system in response to player feedback. For now, these updates are focused on Ranked in EU and NA, but we’ll be improving other queues throughout the first part of the year as well.[/p][p]Until now, Ranked matchmaking has not taken Rank and VP into account. Instead, it matched players using our internal MMR value, which we use to estimate player skill. This has been a common piece of feedback, so we’re changing how the system works to better align with player expectations.[/p][p]Starting in V1.12, matchmaking will take both player Rank and VP into account to better group players of similar rank together. We will still maintain and use our internal MMR, but when creating matches, VP will now play a much bigger role.[/p][p]Our goal is for the majority of matches to include players within a maximum spread of two ranks. Due to how flexible the party system is, this won’t always be possible (for example, Gold players can party with Bronze players).[/p][p]We’ve been testing these changes in the live environment over the last few weeks at different times, and we’re ready to roll them out everywhere. We’ll continue working on the system post-release to address outlier cases as we find them, but we hope the Ranked matchmaking experience feels significantly improved.[/p]
Paragon and High-Rank Matchmaking Improvements
[p]As mentioned in the Competitive Blog, we’ve been tracking down a bug that often split high-ranked players into separate games, filling those matches with Platinum and Gold players. With V1.12, we’ve made improvements to this experience and will continue to iterate in upcoming patches.[/p][p]Players should feel these improvements more clearly once enough players reach Paragon and Diamond this split.[/p][p]Our goal is to ensure that players aspiring to reach the top of the Ranked ladder are given the most competitive matches possible as they climb. Part of that is doing our best to match the best 10 players currently in queue into the same game, and we’ll keep iterating until that’s consistently the case.[/p]
OCE Ranked Time Window Changes
[p]We are moving the Ranked Window on the OCE server 1 hour forward based on feedback shared on the OCE Community Discord. We are always looking at other ways to improve and grow ranked on our smaller servers so please keep the feedback coming.[/p][p]Starting Saturday, February 28th, Ranked will now be open on OCE from 19:00 AEDT (08:00 UTC) until 23:00 AEDT (12:00 UTC).[/p]
Hero Adjustments Highlights
[p]If there’s one thing we haven’t been keeping quiet about, it’s Hero reworks. It has been a big undertaking and we are so excited to pass reworked Heroes into your capable hands. The last time we did this - back in V1.4 -it brought a breath of fresh air to the game and reignited interest in Heroes that were starting to be left behind.[/p][p]Now, in V1.12, we’re back for more. Every single Hero has received changes, though some are more substantial than others - and we can’t wait to see what you think.[/p][p]This section covers only the highlights. You’ll find the full list of Hero changes in the dedicated chapter below.[/p]
Narbash
[p]Narbash’s drums just got an upgrade! His secondary is now a permanently active toggle between healing and movement speed, and his primary applies a buff to whatever beat he’s currently playing. His passive grants Physical Power, Armor, and Magical Armor for each enemy around him, and Thunk has never hit this hard - now also knocking enemies back slightly. Crash! Bang! Boom! has received a huge upgrade too: it now applies a stacking slow that, at max stacks, charms enemies toward him.[/p]
Muriel
[p]Muriel received a huge rework, enabling her to be a stronger enchanter than ever. Her passive no longer grants on-hit magic damage - instead, her abilities apply anti-heal to enemies and grant healing buffs to allies. Her primary has been moved to her alternate, allowing it to be charged to apply devastating stuns to enemies hit. Her alternate is now her secondary, removing the attack speed element and focusing on a movement speed buff and a stronger shield instead. Her new primary creates an angelic light zone for a period of time, healing allies and damaging enemies, while also granting allies attack speed and reducing enemies’ attack speed. And to guarantee a clutch save, her ultimate now grants 50% damage reduction.[/p]
Terra
[p]Terra puts her heavy armor to work! Her passive now grants bonus Armor while within turret range, and all abilities now scale with Armor, leaning fully into her tank fantasy. She’s a truly unstoppable force as her ultimate grants Armor and Magical Armor on top of Tenacity, while also disabling nearby towers. Yep, you read that right: Terra can disable towers now.[/p]
Shinbi
[p]Any Shinbi fans? As of V1.12, she’ll be able to send her primary attack vertically, letting her fight airborne Heroes more effectively. Similarly, her alternate ability now allows her to dash upward, giving her more verticality. For her ultimate, she no longer builds stacks by hitting individual enemies—instead, she builds stacks on herself as she continues to damage enemies. Once fully stacked, she can unleash a whopping 8 wolves on everyone she’s damaged in the last 8 seconds.[/p]
SFX Update
[p]Not only are Hero kits changing: for many Heroes, we’ve also upgraded their sound effects to bring them in line with the audio quality of newer additions, and to give certain abilities a bit more oomph.[/p][p]All Heroes now share a consistent processing treatment for their ultimate VO. This improves gameplay readability, strengthens the sense of power, and creates a more immersive, cohesive audio experience across the roster.[/p]
Ability SFX improvements
[p]Updated abilities include:[/p]
[/p][p]Players will be able to claim awesome rewards, as the reward track has been overhauled. As before, both you and your referred friend will earn better rewards as they progress, starting with Amber payouts and Quantum Cores, and scaling all the way up to Platinum payouts to grab something nice from the store.[/p][p]Hopefully you and your friends will find our upgraded referral system, Friend Rewards, a useful way to help each other out, supporting new players through the early experience, and providing cool rewards for the referrer as well.[/p]
Store News

Skins
[p]Shadow Ops N3on \[Epic][/p][p]It’s one thing to like cats, another to be like a cat. This skin comes with updated voiceover.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Renegade Yurei \[Rare][/p][p]Is this too much neon? No, there’s no such thing. This skin comes with an updated voiceover.[/p][p]

[/p][p][/p]
Bundles
[p]Shadow Ops N3ON Bundle[/p]
[/p][p]As with every season, a new Battle Pass enters the stage - this one themed around high-tech, low-life aesthetics. It’s packed with the kind of content you love to see: exclusive recolours of the Renegade skin collection, including an exclusive Wraith skin (available for free!), special VFX, Opals, Quantum Cores, and more. This time around, it also includes Heroes, so if you’re a new player who hasn’t yet unlocked them all, you can equip the new skins immediately. If you already own the Heroes in question, you’ll receive an equivalent amount of Amber instead.[/p]
