NEW: Predecessor Labs & NITRO

Experimental New Game Modes
[p]In case you missed this week's big announcement. Predecessor Labs hits the game in 1.6 and is our new hub for experimental game modes.[/p][p]These modes will rotate periodically, keeping things fresh and allowing us to road-test new ideas with you before committing to the significant work required for more permanent modes or changes to the main game.[/p][p]Learn more about Predecessor labs here.[/p]
Labs Game Mode #1: Predecessor NITRO
[p]Experience the full thrill of Predecessor—now supercharged, streamlined, and packed into intense 20-minute (on average) matches![/p][p]Looking to squeeze in a quick game before heading out? Are the kids asleep but might wake up soon? NITRO is designed for moments when you don’t have time for a full game of Predecessor, but still want all the strategy, mechanics, and fun.[/p][p]NITRO is the Predecessor you know and love, but faster. Spawn times, XP gains, and death timers have all been fine-tuned for rapid action. If you come from a more action-heavy gaming background, this mode might be your new favourite.[/p][p]It's also a great opportunity to test out new Heroes, kits and builds in low stakes, rapid turnaround matches. Fit more sessions into less time, deepen your skillset and show everyone what you can really do![/p]
BRAWL
[p]Predecessor Labs is taking over from BRAWL, meaning we're benching the mode for a short time while we cycle in more experimental game modes.[/p][p]As we mentioned here, Brawl is currently being played only by a small minority of players and even then we've found that it's because these players want a faster, lower-commitment experience compared to Standard - not because it’s compelling on its own. It's also not a great pathway into Standard or Ranked for new players, with many new BRAWL players opting to just stick with it, rather than dipping their toes in with our more mainline game format.[/p][p]We're sad to see it go, but we're excited to use the learnings it gave us to develop more exciting and experimental concepts that we think you'll love just as much if not more. And we also might bring BRAWL back one day too, changed and improved based on new learnings and player feedback.[/p][p]Thank you for your ongoing support and feedback as we iterate and grow this part of the Predecessor experience. We cannot wait for you to join us on this new journey of development![/p]
Map Adjustments
[p]Not all map changes in V1.6 are demonic - some are just practical. In update 0.18, we introduced map changes to allow players to traverse more walls, but we found that many of these changes weren’t immediately clear and were underused. With this update, we’ve done another pass: lowering additional walls and making traversal points more visually obvious to encourage players to take advantage of them.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Ranked Party Size Changes
[p]As some of you may have heard, we've been working behind the scenes to expand Ranked matchmaking, and, with V1.6, it’s officially here![/p][p]You can now queue for Ranked Mode with a party size of 1, 2, 3 or 5 (all the way up to Diamond rank). Above Diamond, the previous limit of 1 or 2 players in a party still applies.[/p][p]But why no 4-stacks?[/p][p]As we explained during the V1.6 stream, we felt it would be unfair to match a solo player with a nearly full, likely highly coordinated team. With 3 or 5, the playing field stays more balanced while still letting you bring your crew.[/p][p]Time to climb the ranks - this time together![/p]
Refer A Friend
[p]We’re giving seasoned Predecessor players the opportunity to earn valuable rewards, including Loot Cores and even Quantum Cores, simply by inviting friends to join the game![/p][p]Here’s how it works:[/p]
 • [p]If your account is level 10 or higher, you’ll receive 4 referral codes to share with friends who are new or have only played briefly.[/p]
 • [p]Both you and your referred friend will receive rewards, with additional rewards unlocked the longer they play.[/p]
 • [p]Players under level 10 are eligible to claim one referral code.[/p]
 • [p]Each player can only use one code, and can share their code up to 4 times, so choose wisely![/p]
 • [p]You’ll be able to redeem or generate your code directly in the Player Portal. Full instructions will be provided in a Player Support article on release day.[/p]
Controller Button Icon Upgrade
[p]We’ve updated the controller button icons in-game to make it clearer and easier to identify which buttons are bound to each skill.[/p][p]This should improve accessibility, readability and help streamline gameplay for controller users.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
NEW: Augments
[p]Your Hero, Your Game, Your Way: Unleash the Power of Hero Augments![/p][p]Take your strategy to the next level with Hero Augments - a brand-new system of enhancements that can transform your gameplay each match. These powerful modifiers introduce meaningful, customizable effects that let you tailor your Hero to fit your unique playstyle.[/p][p]Designed to be easy to pick up but deep enough to master, Augments open the door to fresh strategies, creative builds, and endless possibilities. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or a newcomer, you'll find tools here to make your Hero truly your own.[/p]
Using Augments
• [p]Augments are selectable in draft once you've picked the Hero you want to play with.[/p]
 • [p]Once an Augment is selected and confirmed, the effect will be active immediately, from the start of the match until its very end. [/p]
Augments Functionality
[p]If your Account is below Level 10 you will not be able to select Augments. Instead you will be automatically assigned recommended Augments as you level up and learn the game.[/p][p]Once an Account reaches Level 10 it fully Unlocks the Augment System, allowing all of the Augments to be chosen as desired during the Hero Draft.[/p][p]Additionally, Augment Selection is remembered on a per Role, per Hero basis. This means that upon selecting your Augments and completing a match, if you select the same Hero in the same Role in a new match, the Augments you previously selected for that Hero + Role will be remembered and equipped again automatically, unless you decide to change them again. [/p][p]Likewise, if you choose a new Role for the same Hero, or the same Role and new Hero, it will default you to the Recommended Augments for that Hero in that Role again until you change them for the first time, after which it will be remembered between matches, as described above.[/p]
Types of Augments
• [p]Hero Augments - each Hero has its own unique set of Augments, intended to further elevate the most popular playstyle for selected Hero. [/p]
 • [p]Minor Augments - you can choose 1 from each group. These are the same for all the Heroes.[/p]
[p]You can find a detailed breakdown of all available augments below. We’ll be closely monitoring your feedback after the release to make sure the experience stays fun and balanced, so make sure to share your feedback with us! You can find full Augments breakdown, balance changes to gameplay, Heroes and items, as well as bug fixes here.[/p]

V1.5.7 is LIVE! | Skylar Redesign | Wukong Announcer | esports Cosmetics

Greetings, Champions!

Can you believe it? It’s already time for another balancing patch!

We’ve got a nice round of adjustments lined up - covering a multitude of items and Heroes, with a spotlight of course on Wukong, who’s somehow managed to be both the best and worst thing to happen to Predecessor (depending on who you ask).

You may notice that this balancing patch isn’t as packed with content as some of our previous updates. That’s intentional - we’ve chosen to place a stronger focus on the “balancing” aspect, reserving the bulk of new features and content for our larger milestone updates.
This approach helps us manage team workload more sustainably and sets clearer expectations for what each type of update will deliver.

That said, we still have a few exciting additions in this patch! Here’s what you can expect:
 • New Skins, including an eSports-themed bundle!
 • Skylar’s community-driven redesign!
 • A surprise new Wukong announcer!
 • A new, simplified Hero selection screen to help first-time players get started with ease!

So without further ado… let’s dive in!

Features:
Skylar Community Redesign
Skylar’s breaking the mold, with a bold new look reflecting a new lore direction as well as the will of the people (you, our community!).

Early this year we took to social media to discuss Skylar’s original design and it was clear that there was some room for improvement. So, with a lot of community brainstorming, feedback rounds and discussions we settled on a vibrant new identity for the Hero - an escaped convict with a past she’s not proud of and a future she’s uncertain about!

Liked old Skylar? Don’t panic! The classic Skylar design isn’t going anywhere either.
If you owned her before this update you’ll automatically receive that original, legacy look as a FREE selectable skin, as well as her new look which will be her new default! And if you didn’t? Old-Skylar isn’t going far - her classic design alongside her launch skin (Starstruck Skylar) will remain available to purchase in the Store as well as being possible to acquire through Loot Cores.
Wukong Joins the Mic
To mark the milestone of the final Paragon Hero's release, we’re adding a little something extra!
We’ve heard all the feedback on the current announcer voice - some of you love it, some not so much, and some barely notice it anymore. But with V1.5, that’s about to change.
Starting in 1.5.7 the highly anticipated Monkey King will now talk to you! Seriously!

That’s right, Wukong is joining the game as an optional announcer voice! He’ll call the shots, hype you up, mock your enemies and even sing you to sleep! Wait, okay, maybe not that last one, but you get the idea.

The sound of Wukong driving you bananas? No problem - you can switch back any time in the settings.

The Wukong Announcer is only available for a limited time, so don’t miss your chance to have the Monkey King call your plays!
Will he return in the future? Well… that depends. If you enjoy hearing his voice and let us know, he might just be convinced to make a comeback.
New Hero Selection Screen for New Players
As part of the first-time player experience, newcomers will now be presented with a choice of three Heroes to pick from in their first game. These Heroes were carefully selected based on extensive data analysis, taking into account retention rates, popularity, and ease of use.
By streamlining the selection process and offering accessible, enjoyable kits, we aim to provide a smoother onboarding experience and a faster path to fun for new players.

Check our website for full list of changes.

Ranked Season 0

Since its launch in June 2024, Ranked Mode has become a cornerstone of Predecessor — with players eagerly jumping into queues the moment they open, and many dedicating themselves to the mode exclusively. Over the months, it’s delivered countless epic victories (and a fair share of crushing defeats), evolving constantly through feedback and updates.
Season 0 Rewards
Let’s be honest — grinding feels a lot more rewarding when there’s something on the line. Starting with V1.5, Ranked Mode will at last move to a season-based format, with exclusive rewards waiting at the end based on the highest rank you achieve.

But what about the time you’ve already put in?

We’re officially designating the period from June 2024 to now as Season Zero. It was a time of experimentation, adjustments, and occasional instability — but your participation helped shape Ranked Mode into what it is today. And for that, we want to say thank you!

Of course, our thanks mean more when they come with something tangible — so everyone who played Ranked during Season Zero (before April 27th) will receive an exclusive banner and icon. Each will reflect the highest rank you reached during that period — not just where you ended up.

Ranked Season 0 ends this weekend, on April 27th.

At this time we’ll also kick off the first rank reset and split, closing the chapter on Season 0 and kickstarting a fresh competitive competitive season.
Ranked Season 1: Ashes of the Damned
During our V1.5 stream we unveiled not only the theme for Ranked Season 1, but also gave a sneak peek into what’s coming in the next few updates.

This season marks a major milestone — it will feature Predecessor's first-ever overarching story arc, with narrative beats unfolding across multiple updates. We know many of you have been asking for more lore, and we’re thrilled to finally begin weaving a deeper world into the game.

The first Split of Season 1, otherwise known as Ashes of the Damned, will follow the tragic story of two sisters who's fates are forever changed and twisted by the claws of an ancient and merciless evil.

We can’t share too much just yet, but consider this your official hint: exciting things lie ahead.

Ashes of the Damned begins begins on April 29th with the first of these two sisters joining the Predecessor roster of Heroes in 1.6.
Starting Season 1
Season 1 will officially begin April 29th. Players Rank will be reduced by up to 7 divisions, a player that is Platinum I will start Season 1 at Silver II. Their internal MMR will be moved closer to the Mean MMR and MMR flexibility will be increased. Providing players who have improved in skill a new opportunity to quickly move to the correct skill level.

Now, let’s talk about how things are going to get even better with V1.5.
Hero Pick Intent
Ever felt frustrated when a teammate banned the Hero you were planning to play? We hear you — and we’re doing something about it.

Introducing Hero Pick Intent — a simple but powerful tool to help teams coordinate better during the draft. Before the ban phase begins, you’ll have 15 seconds to signal which Hero you intend to play. The signal will be clear and hard to miss.

And just in case someone zones out and tries to ban a Hero already marked with intent, they’ll receive an additional warning — letting them know they’re about to ban a teammate’s pick.

Better communication. Hopefully fewer frustrations.
Second Ban Introduction
It’s finally here — the second ban phase is being added to Ranked!

Teams will now take turns banning one Hero each, leading to a total of four bans per match for more strategic match-ups.
Improved AFK Loss Mitigation
We’ve heard your concerns about AFK players and VP loss as a result of being in the match with one.

In response, we’ve adjusted the numbers to provide fairer outcomes when you're affected by an AFK teammate. We hope these changes feel like a real improvement.
Ranked Mode – 24/7 for Two Weeks
To help you get a foothold with your new climb (and give us a bit more data), we’re making Ranked Mode available 24/7 for the two weeks following the launch of V1.5. No more waiting for queue windows — jump in whenever you want!

Ranked Mode will be available for 24/7 for 14 days starting on April 29th, concluding on May 13th
Split 1
As mentioned already, we will be splitting up our Ranked season into multiple splits, with Split 1 running until Autumn later this year.

This first split will be a bit longer than future splits; our long term plan is to have each split run for about 12 weeks allowing us to have 4 splits a year with a small break before a new season kicks off each year.

Each Ranked period will end with exclusive rewards, bigger and better than anything we've provided before.

Purchasable Loot Cores

Following consistent community requests since the feature’s launch, we’re introducing the ability to purchase Quantum Loot Cores with Platinum. Ion Cores will continue to be purchasable once a day with Amber, and Quantum Cores will continue to be available to unlock for free by participating in special events and activations.

We deeply appreciate your enthusiasm for this feature — it’s been fantastic to see players enjoying their rewards and finding a little treat in game every day. Your excitement and willingness to support the game in this way means a great deal to us.

Please keep in mind that due to legal restrictions, Loot Cores will not be purchasable in certain countries, such as the Netherlands, Austria and Belgium.
New Server Locations – LATAM
The rollout of NA-Central has been a success — with noticeable improvements in ping, matchmaking quality, and Ranked accessibility for many players.

Few weeks prior, we also launched Australia-based OCE servers, which have been incredibly well received by the community — and we’ve loved hearing your feedback.

But we’re not stopping there.

With V1.5, we’re excited to introduce one of the most requested server regions yet Latin America!

Yes — it’s finally here!

From the moment V1.5 goes live, LATAM will be available as a selectable server location, initially based out of Sao Paolo.

We hope this brings you a smoother, more enjoyable experience — and to celebrate, we’ve got some fun events planned around the newly launched regions. Stay tuned!

Game Changes
Impact Improvements
With V1.5, we’re introducing a series of UI improvements aimed at making combat feedback more intuitive, readable, and responsive — helping you experience the game on your own terms.

Here’s what’s changing:
 • Improved damage readability across the board
 • Dynamic font sizes for damage numbers based on the type and amount of damage dealt
 • Compound damage tracking, allowing rapid damage instances to stack into a single number for reduced on-screen clutter
 • Enhanced health bar visuals, with better colour feedback and more reactive animations to clearly show each hit
 • Hitmarker scaling, with larger or smaller markers based on the damage type

These changes aim to give you a clearer sense of impact in every fight — without overwhelming your screen.

Gameplay Balance Changes
Death Timers:
Death Timers are once again seeing some adjustments in the early game, increasing by a small margin to give Players a greater time window to crash waves, convert objectives, or reset should they secure a kill.
 • Death Timers at levels 1-9 Increased from 7/10/12/14/17/19/21/23/25 to 10/12/14/16/18/20/22/24/26.
