This Major Update adds a new game mode to the game, allowing you to build a large space station and offer various services to visitors.[/p][p][/p][h2]Space Haven Beta 2 - The Station Mode Major Update [/h2][p](Station Mode is a new separate game mode. You can continue your saved game from Beta 1 when playing the normal game mode. There are also some new updates to the normal game mode.)[/p][p][/p][h3]A New Game Mode - Station Mode[/h3][p]
[/p][p]A new game mode allowing you to role play as the owner of a station somewhere in the galaxy![/p][p][/p][p]Role play as the owner of a station trying to establish a hub somewhere in the galaxy and specialize in services of your choosing. Expand your station gradually by mining nearby asteroids and derelicts moving in and out of your sector.[/p][p][/p][p]Trade with visiting merchants, watch tourist come visit your station and specialize in various services like industry and food or become a notorious arms dealer. Whatever your trade you will determine the composition of your station as the Governor.[/p][p][/p][h3]The Station Mode Starmap - A More Robust Star System[/h3][p]
Station Mode features its own Starmap in form of a larger star system with various points of interests.[/p][p][/p][p]We've built a starmap meant specifically for the station mode, which is a larger star system with various points of interests allowing NPC ships, rogue bots and aliens to come visit your sector but also allowing you to go on away missions to other sectors in the star system.[/p][p][/p][p]The station mode star system features a set of orbits around a star, with simulation of star system entities circling around the star in the different orbits. Your sector and station will also be on its own orbit circling slowly around the star.[/p][p][/p][h3]Two Start Scenarios - Start on Asteroid and Start in Space[/h3][p]
Start from a bare minimum base. Larger cliffs on the asteroid surface will require creativity as you expand.[/p][p][/p][p]Start from a bare minimum base and expand gradually as you gather more resources. Certain facilities, like hangars, can be built directly on the asteroid surface without the need of hull surrounding them.[/p][p][/p][p]
A scenario where you start with a shuttle and deployable containers to land on a new asteroid.[/p][p][/p][p]Start in Space - Start with only a shuttle and some deployable Containers and choose your spot to land on an asteroid. Start building your new station from scratch! [/p][p][/p][h3]Station Services - Specialize and Become a Hub of Services[/h3][p]
Build and specialize in services of your choosing, you can specialize in one or many services.[/p][p][/p][p]Station Mode allows you to build facilities with a goal of becoming a hub for certain services of your choosing. You can build lots of food facilities and entertainment to become a leisure station or specialize in weapons production to become an arms dealer, there will be a multitude of services to choose from.[/p][p][/p][p]
[/p][p]Services related to resources will function as an autotrade, allowing you to specify how much you want to keep back in storages at all times.[/p][p][/p][p]As you specialize your station in certain services you will start to attract more visitors with those needs as the word spreads of your great station and its services. Visitors will pay you good money and you will have a service rating going up or down depending on the experience the visitor had with you.[/p][p][/p][h3]The Haven Foundation Exodus Fleet Supply Ship[/h3][p]
[/p][p]The Haven Foundation needs your help. This time from the main supply ship of the Exodus fleet.[/p][p][/p][p]The Haven Foundation returns with new missions for you to execute and help their cause. This time the main supply ship for the Exodus fleet, lead by Rufus, needs your help securing special mining sectors and to give pathfinders of the Exodus fleet a place of refuge.[/p][p][/p][p]Build your station, specialize in services and become a true Governor of the stars. Help the Exodus fleet and their Pathfinders and you will be rewarded.[/p][p][/p][h3]The Haven Foundation and Joint Venture Mining Operations [/h3][p]
Secure special mining sectors and as a reward you will get a share of the mining operations.[/p][p][/p][p]The Haven Foundation will task you to secure special mining sectors within the star system. These mining sectors are known to have bountiful mines, that will offer a large amount of resources to supply the Exodus fleet in its ventures. [/p][p][/p][p]Help secure these mining sectors and you will receive a share of their operations as a reward. Receive cargo containers filled with resource periodically as the Exodus fleet runs their mining operation. Buy more shares to receive an even bigger amount.[/p][h3]
Endless Play - Migrate to new Sectors and Star Systems[/h3][p]
[/p][p]Migrate to a new home sector, new star system or build a spaceship and continue in normal game mode![/p][p][/p][p]Similarly to the Normal Game Mode this new Station Game Mode will also allow for Endless gameplay. When you have built your station to satisfaction you can continue playing by using so called Migration Containers and shuttles to migrate to a new home sector or a new star system![/p][p][/p][p]Load shuttles with your crew members and pack cargo containers up to the brim with resources. Build special containers used for migration, such as: Life Support, Barracks and Solar Arrays. These will help you start a new base.[/p][p][/p][h3]Build a Spaceship and Take Your Crew to the Normal Game Mode[/h3][p]
Migrate to a special sector in the star system and build a spaceship and continue to normal game mode! Featured ship built by by Alex_D.[/p][p][/p][p]The new Starmap in Station Mode will present a possibility to build a spaceship and continue gameplay in the normal game mode of the game, where you embark on a space journey with spaceships and potentially become a pathfinder for the Exodus fleet.[/p][p][/p][p]This opportunity is presented with a special sector in the station mode starmap, where you are able to migrate to after playing for some time. Migrate, build a new station and a spaceship, and take off into hyperspace traveling to new beginnings in the Normal Game Mode of the game.[/p][p][/p][p]The game modes are still separate from each other, but this allows you to take your crew and continue their journey in the normal game mode. We also added a choice to start the difficulty from beginning or as if you had played one galaxy and will meet larger NPC ships right from the get go.[/p][p][/p][h3]Special Containers Used for Migration[/h3][p]
[/p][p]We've created new deployable containers. These can be used when migrating to a new home sector.[/p][p][/p][p]Packing up and traveling to new bases can be done using Shuttles and Containers. In addition to Cargo Containers there will be a new assortment of containers, featuring containers for Starting a Base, Barracks and Solar Arrays.[/p][p][/p][p]These containers help with giving the minimal conditions needed for early survival as a new station is being built. They can be deployed wherever there is room on an asteroid, and they can be deployed next to each other to create unified hulls between them.[/p][p][/p][h3]Shuttles and Containers Traveling in Starmap[/h3][p]
[/p][p]Shuttles and containers will travel in the starmap similarly to spaceships.[/p][p][/p][p]You will be able to send out shuttles to away missions and use cargo containers to ship resources from the away mission back to your station. The Exodus fleet will be able to send shuttles and containers as you request help from them.[/p][p][/p][p]Shuttles and special deployable containers can be used to migrate and start a new station.[/p][p][/p][h3]Special Bases in the Starmap[/h3][p]
[/p][p]The new starmap will have the same special bases seen in normal mode, but also a new rogue bot base.[/p][p][/p][p]We added NPC bases to the new starmap, along with Rogue Bot and Alien bases. Rogue bots and Aliens can send out attacks which can target both the player but also NPC's moving in the map.[/p][p][/p][p]NPC ships coming under attack by rogue bots or aliens will create away mission events. You can choose to help those under attack.[/p][h3] [/h3][h3]Large Area to Build On - 3x3 Grids Enabled for Station Mode and Fleet Mode![/h3][p]
The size of the asteroid surface will be a 3x3 grid sized area, allowing for building big stations.[/p][p]
The shape and composition of the asteroid surface will be randomized for each playthrough.[/p][p][/p][p]We have enabled a 3x3 sized grid for the possibility to build big stations on the asteroid surface. Random rocks on the asteroid surface will require creativity as you build around them.[/p][p][/p][p]We will also enable these big sized 3x3 canvases for the normal game mode, and increase ship points to 9 to allow you to build much larger ships than before! You can for example build a 3x3 behemoth ship or a fleet of three 1x3 ships.[/p][p][/p][h3]Derelict Ships and Asteroids Moving Within the Sector[/h3][p]
Derelict ships will move into the sector and slowly move out, giving you plenty of time to scavenge it.[/p][p][/p][p]To prevent the player sector from becoming congested we've implemented a system of slow movement of certain entities like derelict ships and small asteroids. This will allow the entities to enter the sector but eventually be moved out of the sector with time.[/p][p][/p][p]This is something we will tweak and modify as needed. The idea is to give a generous amount of time for the player to grab the resources from the derelict ships and asteroids before they slip away out of the sector.[/p][p][/p][h3]Claimable Areas on the Asteroid Surface[/h3][p]
Certain areas of the asteroid surface may be guarded by rogue bots or aliens.[/p][p][/p][p]Parts of the asteroid surface will be claimable areas, guarded by either rogue bots or aliens. These areas need to be secured to get access to more space for building and the surface resources located within the area.[/p][p][/p][h3]Mineable Resources on the Asteroid Surface[/h3][p]
[/p][p]Crew members mining resources on the surface of the Station Mode asteroid.[/p][p][/p][p]Scattered around the surface of the Station Mode asteroid there will be mineral rich debris and crystals, which the crew members can mine directly without having to use mining pods. These patches of resources will help with building the new station.[/p][p][/p][h3]Away Missions[/h3][p]
[/p][p]Take a set of shuttles and venture out on away missions outside of your own sector.[/p][p][/p][p]The station mode will feature a new style of away missions where a set of shuttles can be sent out to sectors outside your own. There will be a slight travel time as your shuttles venture out, when arriving at the destination you will be able to execute an away mission by commanding your crew members in draft mode.[/p][p][/p][p]
[/p][p]Away missions will have you fight aliens, rogue bots and pirates as you help ships in need.[/p][p][/p][p]Fight alien infested ships or ships under attack by rogue bots or pirates. Get various rewards and send resources home to your own station in cargo shuttles. The stakes are higher as there often is no place of safe refuge in these sectors.[/p][p][/p][h3]Rogue Bot Cargo Containers[/h3][p]
[/p][p]Rogue bots leave behind cargo containers as they scavenge ships. Use them for your own purposes![/p][p][/p][p]We have added Rogue bot cargo containers to the game, which can be found in away missions when rogue bots have captured ships. You can take control of and use the rogue bot cargo containers to send resources home to your own station.[/p][p][/p][h3]Humans Captured in Rogue Bot Preservation Tanks[/h3][p]
[/p][p]Rogue bots can now have humans captured in preservation tanks on discovery.[/p][p][/p][p]Previously rogue bots have been able to capture your crew members and put them in preservation tanks. Now, the Rogue bots can have humans captured in their preservation tanks when you discover them. This gives more opportunities to acquire new crew members.[/p][p][/p][h3]Combat Robots[/h3][p]
[/p][p]Research and build Combat Robots to help you clear out derelicts and enemy ships.[/p][p][/p][p]We've added a new robot available for research and construction. The combat robot is a robot that is capable of venturing out into enemy spaces, like derelicts, and engaging enemies. They do not allow for precise direct control but can be ordered to move towards rally points, similarly to star fighters.[/p][p][/p][h3]Pirate Sentry Turrets[/h3][p]
[/p][p]Pirates may now leave their own automated sentry turrets behind, to secure their loot.[/p][p][/p][p]The Pirates get a sentry turret of their own, which they may often leave behind to secure their loot for future salvaging. This new pirate sentry turret will present a new enemy inside derelicts.[/p][p][/p][h3]Automatic Vent Control[/h3][p]
[/p][p]Vents will have an automatic setting, closing automatically if a fire or hull breach is detected in a room.[/p][p][/p][p]Vents now have an automatic control, where they can be set to automatically close when a fire breaks out in a room, or when the hull is breached. The vents will open back up once these threats have died down. However, gases may still linger in the room or temperature may be high, so keep an eye out if further actions are needed.[/p][p][/p][p]This automatic vent control should help mitigate issues with fires spreading and hull breaches causing lots of destruction, as long as good design and compartmentalization is used when designing a ship/station.[/p][p][/p][h3]Faction Specific Dialogue Lines for Some Common Encounters[/h3][p]
[/p][p]Some of the most common encounters with NPC's have more personalized dialogue lines.[/p][p][/p][p]We've added some new dialogue lines for some of the most common encounters with NPC ships and faction in the game. These new dialogue lines will add some new flair and separation between factions as they contact you in need of resources of when you find one of their crew members in a hypersleep chamber aboard a derelict ship.[/p][p][/p][h3]Vivid Tooltips[/h3][p]
[/p][p]Some tooltips will have an animation showing how an item is used.[/p][p][/p][p]Certain items now have small animations in the tooltips showing how an item is used. This will help new players get a grasp on how items like syringes, bandage, combat stims etc. can be used and how sentry turrets can be deployed.[/p][p][/p][h3]Balancing[/h3][p]
[/p][p]Weapons have been rebalanced to have an accuracy modifier based on distance.[/p][p][/p][p]We've made some changes and modified the balance regarding Energium Generators, drug side effects and Ore Processors. Also the hand guns have been modified to have a spread based on distance instead of just a general spread.[/p][p][/p][p]Pistols and shotguns will still be bad at long range, but should now be better in close combat situations than before. We hope to make the early game with pistols and shotguns less awkward, but still offer some challenge.[/p][p][/p][p]We made the Energium Generator consume a bit less Energium, drug side effects have lower negative values and the Ore Processor resource output has been increased. - [p]Station Mode - Rogue bot drones on derelicts outside of the station mode map should be inactive until the derelict enters the sector.[/p]
