Fight Club Update: Welcome to the PvP Ranked play!

The PvP Ranked play arrives to Haxity with the Fight Club update. Read all the details below...

New features

Ranked online play has been added to Haxity! Fight your way up through the ranks and divisions to show everyone who is the meanest and most elite street samurai around.

Tips, tricks, lore, as well as several pieces of lovely hand-drawn art, have been added to the matchmaking screen. The Megacorp Customer Relations Department hopes this will make queueing much more enjoyable for our valued clients!

A first, basic version of emotes has been added. Right click on the screen and say what’s on your mind. Expect an expanded system with more ways to taunt and/or congratulate your opponent in future builds.

Improvements

  • The in-game tooltips and the tutorial have been improved to use wording more consistent with the cards and mods.
  • The user interface of the tutorial and matches has been streamlined.
  • The Megacorp Technical Support Department does not necessarily agree that there were any bugs in the previous 0.7.37 version of the Megacorp Combat Enhancer (™) Console, but is very happy to report that if there were any, they would have been fixed - free of charge - in the new 0.8.11 version.

Gameplay changes

  • User interface improvements to card packs, shop, and draft for the new Best of Three game mode.
  • Tutorial updated to match the Best of Three game mode.
  • AI decks updated and balanced for the Best of Three game mode.

Bug fixes

  • Players are no longer kicked from matches prematurely. Thanks for the detailed bug report, Rhode!
  • Players no longer have to wait for the draft timer to run out after the first pack draft, before the fighting can start. This issue also prevented friendly fights from starting.
  • The AI again understands that starters are better when played in the first slot, and finishers are better when played in the last slot.
  • Doing things really quickly in the menus, before the server connection is up, no longer should cause various issues.

Known Issues

  • You can lose the tutorial. What can we say, Haxity is a mean place.

The next build of Haxity is arriving early next week and will introduce some cool features!

Online ranked play!

We are happy to introduce online ranked play! Progress through the ranks by taking down your opposition. There will be five ranked tiers to climb through this first season.

We will add more tiers for the very best players in coming seasons.

Emotes!

Would you like to taunt your opponents after you cleverly counter all their moves, or congratulate them on a well-executed strategy? We have started adding emotes to Haxity, so you no longer have to stay silent!

You can right-click anywhere on the screen during a fight to bring up the emote menu. If you prefer to fight your enemies in (relative) peace, you can click on your opponent’s portrait to mute them.

Expect the range of emotes to be expanded in the near future!

New Matchmaking Screen

We have added useful tips and tricks about how to play Haxity, as well as some lore, to the matchmaking screen. Additionally, we have spiced this screen up with a collection of beautiful drawings of the streets of Haxity!

Remember that you can comment this changes in our Discord community.

It is always a great experience to watch people play #Haxity, since it gives insight into how other people interact with the game, and what we need to improve. The streamer event one week ago was no exception!

Among the issues that were brought up, was the amount of hacks you get before the first fight. This doesn’t seem to be an issue for more experienced players, so we will keep an eye on this and see if we can make some adjustments to accommodate new players.

We are currently in the process of improving the user experience design. During the stream, we observed that Jeff Hoogland was timing out while drafting. We are discussing a couple of fixes for this: We need to improve the visualization of how much time you have left, and make sure you get a clear audiovisual cue when you are running out of time. In addition, we will look at exactly how much time people get during the draft steps. New players need more time to read the cards, and one solution might be to give “bonus time” to new players.

Fast & Furious: New Versus Mode

A few weeks ago we announced an update on our plans going forward with our focus recalibrated towards the PvP versus mode. You can read it in full here.

We are now proud to present you all with our new and updated Versus mode: Best-of-Three. The new mode is shorter and more intense, it introduces new ways of drafting and building your deck (now you get to open packs!!!) and it brings a few quality of life improvements! This is the first step of our goal to make sure Haxity has the foundations of a thriving online multiplayer game.

One of our main goals with Haxity is to create a truly unique PvP deck-building card game and to make sure it’s fun to play versus other players. We have gotten tons of feedback from our community and testers which has been invaluable for us to help guide our direction. Our main motivation for the new Versus mode was to provide a faster play experience, the new game mode is Best-of-Three instead of Best-of-Five, making it much easier for players to commit to a match, and also making it a bit easier to “just play one more”.

We also believe our changes to the drafting will be welcome, making it more exciting to start a new match and open packs of cards to draft from, as well as improving draft visualization with a deck list available. You can read more details on our thoughts behind the new draft in our DevTapas here.

We have updated our tutorial to better reflect the new versus mode and hopefully it will give new players a bit better understanding for the game and it’s strategy as well. Read more here.

To celebrate the new update we are running a discount at -30% throughout this weekend and we have invited a streamer to join our team to brawl it out today (Friday October 02. 18:45 GMT+2.) join us if you want to be part of the fray!

We look forward to meeting you in the streets of Haxity and would very much like to know what you think about the new versus mode. Join our DISCORD if you want to give feedback, challenge other players, or chat with the community and developers.

The Fast & Furious update feature includes:
  • New versus mode: Best-of-Three available for everyone!
  • Old game modes temporarily disabled - we want to focus our players in on the same game mode with this version.
  • New interface for drafting and deck-building, deck list on the side.
  • Updated and improved tutorial to better reflect the new game mode.
  • Improvements for game and menu flow.
  • Fixed bugs and stability for online play: bug with cards sometimes being non-interactable, bug with players getting stuck while drafting, bug with players occasionally being kicked during a match and many more!

Changing the game to be focused around a new game mode meant that we had to restructure the tutorial. The most obvious change is the new layout, but there are more important changes.

We have observed that some new players don’t understand which moves to slot, when to spend a hack or when to pass your turn, but they seem to get it almost immediately after a short explanation. Some of these problems can (and will) be solved by better UI/UX, but having a good tutorial will make sure all players grasp the fundamental concepts before going head-to-head in a PvP match.

For this (soon to be released) version, all new players will be asked if they want to play the tutorial. We have also made sure that the tutorial fits better with the new game mode.

There are more tutorial and onboarding changes in the pipeline, and we would love to get your feedback - did you struggle to understand any concepts/parts of the game when you started playing Haxity?
