[Announcement] Compensation Regarding the Item Rate Issue
The following is the announcement for the compensation plan regarding the probability issues in GrandChase Classic.
First and foremost, we sincerely apologize for the loss of trust we caused among our players. We take full responsibility for our mistakes and are committed to improving our systems.
After terminating service in 2015, we relaunched on Steam six years later without any modifications. We realized that the system we used for the relaunch was not adequately vetted, as it was based on a version that was six years old. Additionally, we failed to properly prepare and verify the implementation of the probability announcement rules. We recognize that our announcement did not fully explain the actual system structure, and we took immediate action to correct it. We did not intentionally distort or hide any information, and the KFTC (Korea Fair Trade Commission) took this into consideration.
One of the main points raised by the KFTC was that the probability of obtaining an item in the 'Point Acquisition Field' was set at 0%, which differed from what was disclosed. In other fields, normal probabilities were applied; therefore, we determined the compensation criteria based on the affected field.
The total sales figure of 3 billion KRW announced by the KFTC represents global sales. This figure includes transactions from fields with normal probabilities, making it difficult to isolate the sales that occurred exclusively in the Point Acquisition Field.
Since this sales figure also includes regular sales of scrolls, we designed the compensation proposal with consideration of the structural nature of the issue and the limited information available to us.
We have decided to base the compensation amount on all 'Seal Breaker Scrolls' purchased during the period(2022.8.3 ~ 2023.2.27) highlighted by the KFTC, regardless of whether they were purchased as free or paid VP. Due to the objective limitations in calculating the exact loss for each player, we have estimated the average loss based on overall statistics and will compensate players by doubling that amount to 10%. Additionally, we have set a minimum compensation of 10 scrolls to account for the minimal acquisition issues experienced during the initial acquisition process. Players who purchased fewer than 10 scrolls will also receive compensation.
With this in mind, the 'Seal Breaker Scrolls' will be mailed out today during our regular maintenance.
We take full responsibility for the confusion caused to our players and humbly accept this decision. We will voluntarily implement this compensation in a responsible manner.
We sincerely apologize to all players who may have been disappointed by this incident, and we will continue to strive to be a trusted source as GrandChase Classic.
