Early Access Release Date Announcement

Hi, dear Necromancers!

Thank you for your patience. On behalf of our studio and our dear publisher Team17, we are happy to announce that The Unliving will be released in Early Access on October 31 this year, right on Halloween. We will share the Early Access roadmap closer to the launch date to give you an overview of our plans for the following period of development.

In the meantime, we listened to your feedback and improved the undead’s army AI. Give it a try in our updated demo – once you do that, please fill in the questionnaire and let us know how it affected your experience.

The full changelog:

- Improved Artificial Intelligence of the undead army - this is still a work in progress, but we will be glad to hear your feedback after playing the demo - just take a survey from the main menu
- Level generation change - now the path to the boss is shorter, but there are more branches along the way, with new challenges and rewards such as a secret forge, mysterious wanderer, and more
- The Ritual of the Necromancer has changed - the starting set of spells and runes has become almost completely different, and we hope you’ll like it

At the same time, we continue to add localization, and have introduced interim versions of the following languages:

- German
- Spanish
- French
- Japanese
- Korean
- Polish
- Portuguese

Chinese Localisation



Hello! We have implemented pre-alpha Chinese Localisation in our game. We are looking forward to introducing full Simplified Chinese Localisation by our launch in Early Access or in one of the first updates after that.

Hotfix #2: Progress Saving



Hey, Necromancers! We know that you might've lost the progress in the demo, so in today's hotfix, we've added the Arche – in-game currency that you can use immediately after completing the tutorial. Thanks for your patience and feedback! The new hotfix is already installed - now the progress will not be lost after exiting the game.

Hotfix: Black Screen and Balancing



Hey, everyone! We have fixed the black screen issue that you mention in the feedback a lot these days.

- black screen & save files problem is solved
- we noticed that AI affected the difficulty of the game a little too much, and while we fixing it - the undead army got increased power to compensate for its "braindeadness"
- added a couple more minor fixes

We hope that the experience playing The Unliving will be much nicer now, and looking forward to your feedback!

The Updated Demo is Live




[h2]Necromancer’s Citadel Expanse[/h2]

The Citadel already comprises the beginning of the Ritual, but by the time the game hits Early Access, it will become even larger. Skeleton builders work tirelessly on it.




[h2]The Ritual Begins[/h2]

All spells and sacrificial runes available to the Necromancer are bound into the Ritual. Their variety can be expanded inside the Citadel. To do this, you will need the necromantic matter Arche that can be collected within the game.




[h2]More dark arts[/h2]

This demo will also include several new spells. We won't spoil them for you, but at the end of the ritual available in this demo, there is a monster awaiting you.




[h2]The lord of life and death has become more powerful[/h2]

The Necromancer has improved his system of phylacteries. Now the lives that he stores in them will have their own magical energy. For example, the life of a werewolf, having crashed inside a phylactery, will plunge all surrounding enemies into a fratricidal rage.




[h2]Cursed weapons - with each new layer of corruption[/h2]

When upgrading a cursed weapon, the Necromancer will be able to place an additional curse on it. Curses have multiple effects and activation conditions, and their combinations are generated randomly.
