Star Trek Online's new season House Shattered launches on PC today

Star Trek Online is getting a major new expansion on PC this very day. Titled 'House Shattered', the MMORPG's latest chapter sees the ongoing Klingon war continue to rage, with the addition of new content, characters, and even a new store - as of today (October 6), Star Trek Online will also be available on the Epic Games Store, alongside Steam and Arc Games. Plus, some of the new faces - or, rather, voices - joining Online for its new season might be familiar to fans, as some Star Trek veterans join the cast of House Shattered.

Star Trek Online: House Shattered brings an all-new episode to the online RPG game's story called 'Partisans', developer Cryptic Studios and publisher Perfect World announce in a press release. This sees players head to Nimbus to seek refuge, find Captain Adet'Pa, and try to put a stop to J'mpok and Aakar, who are trying to hunt players down with the help of some Mycelial weaponry they've pinched.

Adet'Pa is voiced by Rekha Sharma, who previously played Commander Ellen Landry in both the Star Trek: Discovery show and last year's Rise of Discovery update, while general Aakar is voiced by The Next Generation's Robert O'Reilly. General Martok, who also features, is brought to life by Deep Space Nine's JG Hertzler.

Trying to pick out the best PC space games is a galaxy-sized question. While we wait for E.T. to return our numerous missed calls, let's kill the time by playing some amazing intergalactic adventures. Kick Collector posterior in Mass Effect 2. Mess around with adorable rocket science in Kerbal Space Program. Stare in awe at the sheer vastness of the universe in Eve Online. If you're looking to go where only Bill Shatner and chums have boldly gone before, these are the best sci-fi and space games on PC. Just remember... no one will hear you scream.

Star Trek Online devs mis-advertised latest content bundle, apologise for any confusion

September 1, 2020 Players have been reimbursed for a mis-advertised Star Trek Online bundle.

Players in Star Trek Online have been left feeling misguided when a recent bundle of new ships launched with less items than advertised for the MMORPG game. Developer Cryptic Shift had put the content up for an introductory price with certain bonuses, and when the bonuses were found to be absent, responded it was a mistake, and tried to quietly cover it up.

The incident is described on Reddit by user refugeeinaudacity, who goes through the main points of what happened. On August 17, Cryptic Shift put up a blog post outlining what's in the Cross Faction Support Carrier pack, and the "special introductory pricing discount". For a special price, you could get the four ships and their corresponding modules, and, importantly, five master keys. This was priced at $100, more than the typical $80, but with the keys, it was also more content.

Come release day, August 20, players who ordered that pack found the keys were missing, and started complaining on the official forums. Cryptic Shift responded by stating the keys were "erroneously advertised" and apologised for any confusion. Afterward, any mention of the keys in the blog advertising the pack had been quietly edited out. Viewing an archived version of the page via the Wayback Machine, you can clearly see "and 5 Master Keys for the price of 8000 ZEN" in the third paragraph, which is absent on the current site's version.

Star Trek Online: Legacy Now Live!

Our 10th Anniversary is here, and the Legacy begins. Star Trek Online: Legacy is live right now! Cryptic Studios is over the moon to present our Tenth Anniversary Celebration to our fans on PC starting today, and on Xbox One and Playstation 4 March 3rd. We’re excited to share all of the content in Legacy with you, some of which you’ve known about, some of which is brand new.

First up, a brand new, two part episode, The Measure of Morality. This episode returns Captains to Excalbia, from the Original Series episode “The Savage Curtain.” The Excalbians have decided to put on another test of Good and Evil, and your characters will play a major part in it. But you won’t be alone. Returning to the game for the first time since Delta Rising, Jeri Ryan portrays a Seven of Nine that’s different from any we’ve seen before. And for the first time ever, Sonequa Martin-Green joins the cast to bring Michael Burnham to life! These episodes are a love letter to the past and future of Star Trek Online, and we think you’ll love this jaunt down memory lane.

The Anniversary Event also comes with a major prize – the Khitomer Alliance Battlecruiser. This new ship, the first to combine Federation and Klingon technology, is a sign of the peace that’s beginning to dawn across the galaxy. You can earn it by participating in the returning Omega Molecule Stabilization Event, by playing The Measure of Morality, or by participating in the brand new Task Force Operation, To Hell With Honor. Bring your starships to J’Ula’s shipyards on a distant moon, and battle one of the largest enemies we’ve ever created in the game.

The Borg are a huge part of STO’s history, which is why, for the anniversary, we’re giving you a chance to assimilate their technology for your own. The Borg Lock Box offers Hugh’s ship, upgraded for a new era, as the Borg Juggernaut. It also contains new powers for your Captain, like the ability to assimilate enemy ships and bend them to your cause. On top of that, we’re adding a favorite Task Force Operation of the last few years, The Mycelial Realm to regular TFO rotation, for you to play any time.

It’s a bold new world out there, Captains. Go out and claim your Legacy.
