Residents in northern Taiwan were astounted by a light pillar that lit up the sky at 11:27 pm, September 10th, 2020. An earthquake with magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale soon followed, disrupting the peaceful night. The pillar of light that appeared last night is still present as of today, and is terrorizing the citizens of Northern Taiwan.



According to the latest seismic data from the Central Weather Bureau, the earthquake at 11:27 p.m. on September 10 was a shallow earthquake with a depth of 45 kilometers, the epicenter was located near ShueiNanDong in Ruifang District. The magnitudes on the Richter scale for New Taipei City, Taipei City and Yilan City were 4, while Taoyuan, Hualien, Hsinchu, Taichung, and Nantou experienced magnitude 3 earthquakes.
  
Netizens raved about the degree of tremor and said that Taipei has not experienced an earthquake of this magnitude in a long time. Furthermore, the mysterious sky light pillar prior to the earthquake made some initially suspect that it was the result of a nuclear plant explosion.
  
Taipower made an official statement shortly after the incident, that the Taipower North District has sent technicians to the substations and nuclear power plants to confirm that everything is safe and sound, and there is no reason to be worried.
