A Quick Update about Modding

Hey everyone,

in recent weeks, we have released several new free uniforms that can be enjoyed by everyone – and as some of you have noticed, they are far more detailed and complex than the ones we had before.

As we have overhauled the entire way uniforms are created and how the underlying systems work, previously created uniform mods are no longer compatible with the game. We apologize for any inconvenience and that it took us such a long time to communicate this properly. If you have previously published a uniform mod, you must adjust them according to the new modding process to make them compatible again. As a benefit, the new uniforms allow for far more flexibility and creativity while enabling you to also adjust parts of the outfits which were previously inaccessible. We hope you'll enjoy them!

To help you with that, we have now updated the modkits and templates to ensure that modders get as many files and templates as possible. We even included multiple uniforms you can take inspiration from – and a comprehensive README in the ExampleMod folder that explains how the new modding process works.

You can now also mod unmarked vehicles! To do that, check out the manifest.json in the car vehicle modpacks and make sure to adjust "IsUnmarked" in the header to either "True" or "False", depending on what you want to create.

Other modding issues

Very recently, we have released an update that fixed an issue that caused the RNA Layer to blend through any livery mod. To clarify: This is an issue that was completely on our end and no modder was at fault for this. We apologize to all modders who might have received negative comments regarding this bug.

We are aware of other miscellaneous problems with mods. If you have stumbled upon one, feel free to write them down in the comments below (at best with footage). We will take a look at them!

Join the community

Multiple modders have joined the official astragon Discord server to chat with other members of the Police Simulator Modding Community. We have a dedicated channel (#police-modding) available for that which you can access after granting yourself the 'Police Simulator Fan' role.

In addition, we will select a few modders to a secret channel where you can talk directly to us. You might even receive additional benefits like early access to builds and free keys for a Patrol Car DLC. Feel free to join us!

Cheers,
Your Police Simulator Team

And now, let's dive right into the news!
Time to go undercover...
Next Tuesday, on August 13, we will release the Unmarked and Special Vehicle Packs! These pack will include 8 skins in total, 4 of them as part of the Special Vehicle Pack which will give you new, extra fashionable patrol car skins plus a white ceremonial and a black special uniform for your officer!

As part of the Unmarked Vehicle Pack, you receive 4 different skins for your patrol cars to patrol the city of Brighton completely in disguise! These go from a fun pizza delivery skin to a completely black livery kind of skin, so there is definitely a favorite for everyone!

You don’t own any car DLC? No problem! These skin packs can be enjoyed by everyone who owns the DLCs, however only with the unmarked and the special liveries of the respective car.

The Unmarked & Special Vehicle Skin Pack will launch as paid DLC on August 13 on PC, Xbox & PlayStation!

This update also fixes a bunch of issues, including the one causing CP Loss when arresting someone for carrying an illegal weapon inside their car. The full changelog will be released alongside the update.
Let’s talk about this year’s gamescom!
From August 21 to August 25, we will be once again at gamescom in Cologne, Germany.

Patch 14.3.2 – Bug Fixes, Multiplayer Improvements, Fixed Modding, and more
Fellow Officers,
the latest update has just been released and it includes a plethora of improvements, bug fixes, and quality-of-life additions. This time, we focused on resolving several CP Loss issues, improved multiplayer stability & fluidity in several areas, enhanced NPC behavior, fixed a bunch of problems with patrol cars, and more.

In addition, the Highway Patrol Car Skin that was previously exclusive to the IPV can now be used for all other patrol cars as well (as long as you own the Highway Patrol Expansion). In addition, we made sure that accepting and declining callouts is not allocated to the same button as the car blinkers on controllers any longer.

Last but not least, we resolved an issue with patrol car mods that caused the N Layer to blend through the liveries, causing them to appear broken. Sorry that it took us so long! That said, we also updated the modkit with the EPV & IPV plus the official guide. Please note that uniform mods are all required to be adjusted due to the changed models – we are currently working on further details, so stay tuned for that and we apologize for any inconvenience.

Stay tuned for even more improvements and additions coming to Police Simulator very soon – you should keep your eyes peeled for next week! Just a hint :)
